First time playing it. Recommend me some builds. I usually like playing strt/magic builds like the Battlemage in TES and the Mystic Knight in Dragon's Dogma

      vs

      >play easy mode first to learn the fights.

you dont learn the fights when you play with sorcery

          This is correct.

Don't START as a sorcerer, start as a melee class and spec into sorcerery later. Also pick the Master Key as your starting gift.

But this is fine, because you'll learn how sorcery works without realizing how absolutely busted it becomes if you max out the damage.

OP should play the game however he wants, if he wants sorcery then he wants sorcery

Obsolete and not a role-playing game. If you want a good fantasy-action game, you already played the best one. I guess Dark Souls 3 is the dead end of the formula. Also, Sekiro is FromShovelware's best one.

Frick you homosexual, any game in which you can play either as a fighter or as a mage is an RPG by definition

I agree that it's not really an RPG but it's close enough to ARPG that it's fine to start threads about it here. When people ask about my favorite jrpgs it's not on the list, though.

    1. Faith Knight - Strength
    2. Quality (equal Dex and STR) Faith
    3. Dex sorcerer

    There's tons of spell options.

    Mainhand: sword
Offhead: switch between shield and pyromancy
You could also just two hand a greatsword. That's fun.

Start as a Knight, level into faith later. This way you can be melee with access to powerful faith magic (healing, lightning spears, etc)

Also gives you the option to infuse weapons with faith

Zweihander with pyromancy would probably be the best possible choice for you.
    >zweihander is one of the best weapons in the game and can be found with barely any effort right after the tutorial
    >unlike other magic types, pyromancy doesn't need any casting stats (though DEX improves your casting speed)
    >you can start as a pyromancer and have a very easy early game

Start as a cleric, and build it like you're playing a bandit.

One point in attunement lets you buy an extra healing miracle from the cleric guy and use it, giving you ten casts in total. It's too slow for combat but will allow you to explore further between bonfires. You're not wasting many if any points in faith past what you start with. Buying the thorolund talisman from the same merchant will get you slightly improved heals if you really want them.

Other than that, pump only str, end, and vit. A restrictive but very efficient/cheap build to get going. Stick with the starting mace if you like it, or buy a reinforced club from a semi-hidden merchant early on. It's a modestly overtuned weapon popular for low level challenge runs, but not so crazy op as to make the game unfun. That's the idea behind this build. Powerful but still lets you play the game blind and not plan for equipment in areas you won't even see for hours.

Sound boring? Well, there are other pure str and almost-pure str weapons you might find. But also, any character can get access to pyromancy and use it. So you have another build to seamlessly flex into if club, heal, and the occasional heavy crossbow-ing gets dull. Wouldn't recommend pursuing advanced miracles and offensive miracles, not really the kind of build a new player can access without being a guidegay.

For me it's just going to Anor Lando. Might as well just quit at Sen's Fortress.

I'd say try to keep mostly blind the first time around. As for builds, DS1 is very rewarding to armoring up. That's basically the one thing that no other From game properly followed up on.

Honestly this is kind of the best advice in the thread. Way too many people seem to be scared of failing at a game these days and Dark Souls and all it's ilk are games that really sort of center around bouncing back from failure. You're never gonna get anywhere even with a perfectly vetted build unless you actually learn the games flow for yourself.

      This is good advice.
Dark Souls lets you level up as much as you want the only downside is pvp (and you'll probably get your butt kicked on your first try regardless of build anyway). My first playthrough ended up in NG+++ or something able to use every spell and weapon.

magic makes the beginning of the game very easy, however there are several enemies in the late game that are resistant to it, and use it against you.
