Donphan needs to get an evo because Ursaring got one. Misdreavous needs to get an alt evo because Murkrow is getting one. Third versions are better than DLC. Greninja is one of the most popular Pokémon, especially among zoomers. And friendly rivals are cancer.

Balance reasons, most likely. Victreebel was actually good in Gen 1, Vileplume was useless even back then. Funny thing is, though, that Bellosom ended up being even more useless than Vileplume. The better question is why did Scyther get an evo and not Pinsir, when both Pinsir and Scyther were terrible in Gen 1.

USUM was only 5 years ago. Besides, DLC would be fine if Gamefreak released a definitive edition that includes the DLC about a year after the DLC releases, like what Square Enix does. Instead, Gamefreak has to be greedy and force you to buy the original versions + the DLC separately, so there's no option to "just wait for the enhanced version" anymore.

Story apparently made the leaker cry, music is 10/10, GF is being extremely vague with the details regarding anything. We didn’t even know about the crystal gimmick minus picrel.
