i mean what are you gonna do with HP games? iirc i saw a angryjoe review on game based on the 5th movie or something and at that point it was literally just a coverbased shooter
In the actual books Harry and his friends aren't running around everywhere casting spells willynilly. They could have made the games more like a 3D adventure game where the player attends classes and tries to solve mysteries; that would have been more true to the source material, but maybe that wouldn't have appealed as much to the gradeschoolers who liked Harry Potter.
I don't know what you mean. I had Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the PC and you're always using flipendo to flip switches and knock over enemies. Later you learn incindio which is like flipendo but for plants. And you're always trying to cast alohamora everywhere looking for secrets. Yes, there was a lot of Crash Bandicoot-style platforming as well. None of this was like the books.
yeah i for some reason skipped book 5... so i can't comment >They could have made the games more like a 3D adventure game where the player attends classes and tries to solve mysteries; that would have been more true to the source material
sounds more true to HP than whatever game based on book 5 exists now
It's a fricking slog. You missed Umbridge, the only character in the series who is actually more evil than Voldemort (who at least has a sympathetic backstory), you missed Harry being a PTSD-riddled moron who can't stop provoking Umbridge and subsequently loses everything he loves about Hogwarts, and you missed Harry going mega moron and getting the best character in the series killed (but that's also Dumbledore's fault).
>It's a fricking slog.
i misremembered. i didn't skip it completely. i did try reading it. but idk how far in i got >You missed Umbridge, the only character in the series who is actually more evil than Voldemort
i remember her name and being a total b***h. what was her deal again? she was a genuine bad guy right? >you missed Harry being a PTSD-riddled moron who can't stop provoking Umbridge and subsequently loses everything he loves about Hogwarts,
don't recall the ptsd portion but constnatly provoking umbridge, totally. expected nothing less >and you missed Harry going mega moron and getting the best character in the series killed

>what was her deal again? she was a genuine bad guy right?
Pretty much. Loyal to the Ministry, not the Minister, and a sadistic bully through and through.
>don't recall the ptsd portion
They don't outright say he has PTSD, but he spends most of the book dealing with the trauma from the graveyard in Goblet of Fire.
>who?
Sirius Black. He got done dirty. And the really frustrating thing is he fricking gave Harry a magic mirror that could have prevented Sirius from dying if Harry had just fricking taken a look at it.

The thing that makes Umbridge worse than Voldemort is that you'll probably never meet a Voldemort in real life, but you will DEFINITELY meet at least one Umbridge.

yeah fair point
It's got a few good moments. Dumbledore dabbing on Fudge at the hearing, and then dabbing on him again for good measure when the DA is busted. But overall it's a pain to read.
J.K. Rowling must have played these games because in the later books they might as well just be casting flipendo at each other during their wizard "duels."
Reminder that Nintendo had the chance to buy all non-movie/book rights to Harry Potter back in the 90s and turned it down

Definitely wouldn't have been shitty Gears clones by the end of it under Nintendo
yeah fair enough anon. nintendo might be a meme on here but they seem to make sure they don't put out soulless slop atleast

The early games barely even fricking used magic, they were basically platformers

This is why I'm glad you people are too stupid to develop video games.
What would they ever do with those lmao
based nintendo making it so we'd at least have 3 solid HP games before they went to shit regardless
J.K. Rowling must have played these games because in the later books they might as well just be casting flipendo at each other during their wizard "duels."
HARRY POTHEAD! DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF WOCK?
<Harry Pothead and the Chamber of Nuggets
Master Malfoy calls me Dabby, because my earwax is pure hash oil.
>RAJEESH SHARMA YOU NEED TO WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE COOKING VINDALOO FOR THE BANQUE-*PFFFFRTTTT SHPLOOORP*
Hmmm. It appears that Gry/v/indor is in the lead. Anon, it looks like you get to visit the bonus bean room!
