There isn't a single jump in the game that makes you lose hours of progress, unless you frick up multiple times in a row. Also the progress in that game comes from your skill improving unlike the other streamerbait games. Once you have beaten the entire game, dlcs included, you could easily go back and speedrun the entire game in 2 hours max.

Calling Jump King and Only Up “Foddian” is stupid, because a big part of the difficulty from Getting Over It (and QWOP) is that those games have terrible controls on purpose. Jump King’s physics and controls are exactly what you expect them to be, it’s the level design that’s difficult.
Getting Over It controls are also just as predictable and you have as much control as Jump King.
jump king controls are also dogshit. thats the basis of the whole game. if it were easy to control his jumps, there would be no game.
Getting Over It and Jump King are the only ones that seemed any good to me.

It does have baby mode where you can set checkpoints though, which I think is kind of against the spirit of the genre
Without checkpoints it took me about 3 hours to beat so it's pretty easy compared to the rest as long as your partner isn't dogshit

If you're talking about hard platformers made purely to get people mad then IWBTG and Kaizo are the obvious examples. Kaizo was itself a term used for such games for a while.
If you're thinking of more skill-based platforming in general with timing and leaderboards playing a large part then Defrag has some maps that would definitely qualify. Aidsrun, anyone?
Kaizo doesn't waste your time though. It's difficult, but it allows you to just get right to the hard jump immediately. They even shorten the death animations frequently.

There's at least a dozen games like this that popped up only after GOI took off. I think it's justified having a sub-category in the platform genre. You can call them something else like "endurance platformer" but they still have a unique feel. Not any dumber than "metroidvania".
