For all its criticisms they still put effort into BF1. Now it seems that devs will just release a half finished game, call it a day and give up on it in a year (aswell as planned obsolesence with live service)

He is kind of right. After BF1/BF5 there was a surge in pre-Vietnam shooters.
It was COD ww2 after BF5, but a few other games have filled in other smaller niches during and since then.
WW2 games stopped being mainstream in 2009 with Wolfenstein, thanks to COD4.
Except for Red Orchestra 2, which was still relatively niche, WW2 era games almost completely dried up, until BF1 (which ironically is set during WW1).
I actually liked the way planes in BF1 were more balanced and fragile, with infantry weapons doing damage.
Slow propeller-based aerial combat will always be more interesting for everyone involved.

Im getting flashbacks of that Russian MG that could shoot at 6 gorillion RPM. You could cripple planes pretty quickly with that thing iirc.
And that isnt even mentioning all the other shit like sniping pilots, using portable AT guns and AA batteries. You could still be unstoppable in a fighter plane but there were plenty of ways to get rid of anything else

I hate people that complain about these mechanics. Good forbid a video game is unique enough to take you outside your comfort zone.
The only complaint is how janky it could be when lagging in a vehicle (or just in general when moving)
I will take some batshit insane 'WW1' shooter over a "tactical WW2 fps" any day though. It doesnt hurt playing a multiplayer game that only takes 20 minutes to finish either.

It was a cool game because it had Russian civil war. Maps in the desert were also very cool.

BF1 is basically unplayable due to cheaters in every server.
I still play BF1. By first game in the series was BF1942, so I like this time period more than modern, and WW1 is so underrated its criminal. I like a lot of the guns, even though I don't like the sniper sweet spot mechanic. IMO definitely the best BF game, despite every other character being a n**ger.
