Some new diversity hire was going through the assets and noticed there is a wheelchair.
So they put it in use (not realizing it was added back in Cata as a joke).
Look. l'm not 'tarded like Robby here, so l know that a group of strapping bucks as cool as you would never waste your time with a boy whose legs are as dead as a Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings.
Oh wow some woke intern awkwardly shoved some furry frickers fetish onto a set of low polygon wheels. I'm sure that'll be a welcome 2 second distraction from the 20 year old monotony of collecting those 10 artifacts on your way to max level so you can run the same fricking M+'s for years before the next disaster of an expansion.
Those are the worgen feet aren't they? And those wheels are probably from a cannon or something? I don't think they would ever actually address the fact that this this is moronic in game, but if they ever did I like to imagine he got hit by an extra dimensional bus or something, he's time crippled now. Maybe one of the evil time dragons did it if they're still around.
I don't think wheelchairs in fantasy settings are actually that bad of a thing. But it all obviously depends on the context.
For example, if there was a character in a wheelchair in some starting area, it would make sense. Yes, this is a world with godlike priests running around, but they don't have time to be everywhere, and take care of every injury that pops up. Similarly, there could be older wheelchair bound characters in bigger cities. You know, characters who might be well off and could afford to get somebody to fix them up, but maybe they are comfortable with their lot in life at that point, and they'd rather spend their money on other things.
But what's fricking stupid is putting important characters in wheelchairs in endgame areas. If somebody is important enough to be doing research or shit at frontlines, you'd bet your ass they'd get fixed up as soon as possible, if only because having somebody in wheelchair when unannounced demon attack happens would be a huge security concern. Fricking stupid.
>For example, if there was a character in a wheelchair in some starting area, it would make sense. Yes, this is a world with godlike priests running around, but they don't have time to be everywhere, and take care of every injury that pops up.
There's a person that can teach you how to revive the dead in goldshire, the first city in the game.
id imagine a wheelchair bound person to play wow to maybe not think about being an invalid. fortunately now they can enjoy a gay fetish wheelchair bound muppet stare back at them. i love blizzard

The absolute state
What is the point of a whimsical fantasy world when it depends on displaying harsh truths from our own reality, if I was in a wheelchair I'd be happy to no see them nearly as much during my escapism hours, but maybe that's just me.
>What do you mean you don't want to play as a disabled character in a video game? It's literally your entire personality and the only reason you matter!
I really don't get this mentality. If I was in a wheelchair I'd probably love games that let me run as fast as the wind. Plus in a fantasy setting why a wheelchair? Some characters, particularly more normal humans, could be in a wheelchair but more fantasy elements could be added. A necromancer who has a chair made of bones crawling along, an elf who can summon flowers to support him as he moves around, have some fricking fun with it.
>you're handicapped and dreaming about being able to run again >blizzard knocks down your door and starts yelling about how you're handicapped and can't run while cheering and smiling and they also hired a band to play songs about being handicapped in the background >confetti is flying, people drink champagne and wish you a merry handicapped life then take selfies with your wheelchair bound body to post online to show how great and empathetic they are because they think about the handicapped >everything happens in 15 mins, then they all storm out of your home after they finish posting their images online
>Be Bungie >Keep making political statements and woke emblems for sale >Only time they made something not pozzed and was sane was an emblem for those that are actually disabled whether their legs are broken or is missing an arm
Why can't these companies just do this?
>ahhh videogames the only thing helping me forget that horrible accident that mangled my legs and killed both my parents >ooh a new wow update let's check it out
How very woke of them to include that in a setting where healing and magic of incredible potency exists to the point that entire forests can be regrown and barren lands made not so barren. Do they have American healthcare rules or something where the fricking cripples are the poor folk that can't pay for magical healing? lmao
>be in wheelchair >play videogames to try and escape problems in fantasy world >log on >the furgay ceo has been beguiled by homos to remind you you're stuck in a chair forever >a worthless npc that sits around tinkering with small insignificant objects >even in this fantasy world you're trapped and reduced to a sub optimum existence, except now the gap is from walking up stairs to flying on a dragon and fighting the world's greatest threats
The whole alliance vs horde is racist and bigoted if you think about it.
Members of the factions can only be the faction based on their race and they're supposed to fight the opposite because they are different race(s).
When a human walks up to orgrimmar, he will get killed because he is human.
How is this surviving and shit like bodytype and gays is included? Yes, it's because that would require a bit more than just changing a couple of variables or writing a quest log entry.

The weirdest thing to me is that the wheelchair wouldn't even work, their legs would drag along the ground. Have the devs never seen an actual wheelchair before? Is this meant to be a caveman wheelchair? Why would a dragon that can fly need a chair with wheels?
On a high fantasy setting full of magic, flying creatures and levitating spells you put a fricking DRAGON on a wheelchair.

Priest is a class, something you devote your life to. First aid is a (removed) tertiary profession, something you pick up in your spare time.
That is literally the backstory for both gnome and goblin priests.
>Why do doctors exist in a world where priests can reverse death and cure diseases with a flick of their hand
Nothing in an MMO can or will make sense if you assume that all of the player characters/NPCs around you should be constantly considered into the story. No problem is going to make sense when you have a bunch of immortal demigods going around everywhere with the sole purpose of solving problems. I love talking shit about blizzard's writing as much as anyone, but that's the same as asking why one of those level 60 town guards doesn't just stomp on over to the starting zone and do all our quests for us. That doesn't happen because then there'd be no quests to do.
>and medics and doctors are better triage than healers >the people who can tie a bandage are better than those who can reverse time and bring you back from death
lol
and people think the wheelchair is dumb

Healing in wow doesn't reverse time, it reknits wounds and from what we have seen, none of them work fast enough to stop bleed outs in the lore.
But doctors and medics CAN stop bleeding, also only certain casters can dispel poisons, but antidotes work perfectly. In fact I think we see more quests point out for antidoes than just getting a healer.
>could whip up a correctly sized and properly stylized wheelchair in less than an hour >instead, use some old eyesore of a model from 10 years ago, meant for an orc

if it affects some random idiot in a level 12 paladin questline it's canon

Professor X, homie. Like you said it depends on context, but 90% of wheelchair inclusions now in any game are for brownie points.
Especially red dragons who are known for their insane healing fire spells
wheel chairs in fantasy like this only make sense for very old characters
if you have magic that can heal back entire forests and whatnot there is no conceivable reason to stay a cripple
Don't they have magic? Does everyone just hate this particular dragon and refuse to heal it's legs?
>Does everyone just hate this particular dragon and refuse to heal it's legs?

Why the frick would a literal dragon use a wheelchair of all things.
Why would a disabled person want to play as a disabled character?
Because there's nothing wrong with them you bigot! Reality is ableist! So we must not acknowledge it!
I don't see the problem. People have worn eye-patches when missing an eye in video games for ages, as an example.
They're going mountain climbing.
>Be Bungie
>Keep making political statements and woke emblems for sale
>Only time they made something not pozzed and was sane was an emblem for those that are actually disabled whether their legs are broken or is missing an arm
Why can't these companies just do this?
Even if somehow healing magic doesn't wwork and time reversal is off-limits for resons, can't Gnomes make augmented legs for him anyway?
Virtue signaling about disabled people is like cutscenes of characters dying. They have to die even though you could heal them with magic.
Why can't a character just be a character for these people? Why does everything have to be about representation?
They literally have a metric for measuring how diverse characters are, that halfassed chair model probably adds eight points of the diverseometer

But the issue is lore presents magic healing as slower than triage, but still better in the long run.
Losing a leg is understandable, but spinal injuries if stable should be healable.
What is a doctor but a guy who's got alchemy and first aid as their chosen professions?
There aren't, stop making shit up.
Wheelchair dragon is bullshit, period.

https://www.wowhead.com/npc=59369/doctor-theolen-krastinov#drops;mode:heroic
Sorry morons
And yes, before he was evil Krastinov was a regular doctor
Someone who wasted their life to be worse than a level 10 priest
There's no reason to study to be a chef when you could study to be a mage and shit out infinite food plus you can throw fireballs.
Because, as shown in game at places like the Argent Crusade camps, they work well in tandem, and medics and doctors are better triage than healers.
>and medics and doctors are better triage than healers
>the people who can tie a bandage are better than those who can reverse time and bring you back from death
lol
and people think the wheelchair is dumb
Healing in wow doesn't reverse time, it reknits wounds and from what we have seen, none of them work fast enough to stop bleed outs in the lore.
But doctors and medics CAN stop bleeding, also only certain casters can dispel poisons, but antidotes work perfectly. In fact I think we see more quests point out for antidoes than just getting a healer.
Marche approved magical world.
if you are playing fantasy, sword and magic
why the fk would you want to be disabled or a trans?
its fking moronic
Henceforth, he shan't walk
Venat, stop breaking kneecaps.
>could whip up a correctly sized and properly stylized wheelchair in less than an hour
>instead, use some old eyesore of a model from 10 years ago, meant for an orc
But I guess nobody cares as long as you can tick the "disabled person" checkbox lmao
Is a dragon in a wheelchair technically a quadriplegic
Depends if its wings work, it's clearly able to use its arms, which would be it's front legs.
>dragon in a wheelchair
This is unintentionally so damn funny it’s like a parody
>have legs
>can fly
>wheelchair!
>in a game where you can resurrect. and go to the alterfire and come back like walking to the kitchen
this is so fricking moronic
>people routinely ride horses, wolves, giant cats, mechs and dragons but this one sits in a chair with wheels
>people ride horses, wolves, giant cats, mechs and dragons when they could just teleport
That's XIV, this is WoW.
Oh yeah forgot the historians and archaeologists.
I don't understand why a disabled person would want to be disabled in a game. You're free to be whatever you want. It's your chance to get as far away from your disability as possible and you choose to still be stuck in a wheelchair?
Surely they have had some manner of wheelchair bound vendor before
