It makes sense though since it's implied if you're willing to do that to your "friends" that you're just using her the way Reach did. The idea is that in spite of the monstrous path he walks, Kuma is actually a soft touch. Shinazu comments on this a couple of times as well. But it's hard to play things off as chummy in the end if you're not really like that.
Kiku is cool. She's very stern and serious but has a huge crush on your main character. It's one of those types of characters. I'm a bit of a sucker for it, so I like her a little more than Kirakira (who I also like). Kikuchiyo also has the best theme music, and is really fun to use in combat

It's pretty whatever. There's a lot of plot beats that go absolutely nowhere or was straight up pointless. For instance, one of the main characters actually belongs to the family of the evil corporation his gang is trying to take down. But this gets introduced very, very late into the game. And virtually nothing changes from it, when you encounter him again in the last stage you have a scuffle with him and he just rejoins like nothing ever happens.
There's also a reoccurring "antagonist" who pretty much just exists to be a boss battle. He goes out on a whimper and that's that. All the possible questions raised about him don't get answers and he altered not much of anything in the story. So yeah, the story isn't great or anything. At least the character events are fun, though.
Also I never got any of the scenes where my characters get raped and I never will. I accept the premise that the girls we capture are just paychecks to fund our terror cell, but I draw the line at characters I'm expected to get attached to being taken away or shat on. Fricked up shit happening is fine, but allow me that much being a sap
I usually find this stuff creepy but Alicesoft games have enough self-awareness I never get weirded out by them. Sure, Rance is a POS but the game's portrayal is not gratuitous or a power fantasy which I appreciate. It's like reading mythology like yeah Dzeus does some weird shit but it's not like actively dislike him while reading or anything.
A very colourful cast of characters, they are likeable and feel like real people. The worldbuilding is great and the lore is genuinely interesting. Throughout the entire game there is an overarching mystery surrounding Mother Eve, Adan and QD that keeps you interested and gets revealed near the end. The dialogue is nice and I really liked how self-aware the characters are, the girls will comment when they see weird fetishes and aren't one dimensional exposition dumps nor do they go kyaah generic anime reaction. The art is great. I am neutral towards the combat, imho it's nothing to write home about but fighting megamonsters is a decent challenge if you find the combat system satisfying.

Is the story even good?
It's pretty whatever. There's a lot of plot beats that go absolutely nowhere or was straight up pointless. For instance, one of the main characters actually belongs to the family of the evil corporation his gang is trying to take down. But this gets introduced very, very late into the game. And virtually nothing changes from it, when you encounter him again in the last stage you have a scuffle with him and he just rejoins like nothing ever happens.
There's also a reoccurring "antagonist" who pretty much just exists to be a boss battle. He goes out on a whimper and that's that. All the possible questions raised about him don't get answers and he altered not much of anything in the story. So yeah, the story isn't great or anything. At least the character events are fun, though.
For me, it's Porno.
Also I never got any of the scenes where my characters get raped and I never will. I accept the premise that the girls we capture are just paychecks to fund our terror cell, but I draw the line at characters I'm expected to get attached to being taken away or shat on. Throughout the entire game there is an overarching mystery surrounding Mother Eve, Adan and QD that keeps you interested and gets revealed near the end. The dialogue is nice and I really liked how self-aware the characters are, the girls will comment when they see weird fetishes and aren't one dimensional exposition dumps nor do they go kyaah generic anime reaction. The art is great. I am neutral towards the combat, imho it's nothing to write home about but fighting megamonsters is a decent challenge if you find the combat system satisfying.
It's also the only Alicesoft game on Steam.
