Dishonored was, in everything but name, Dark Messiah 2 with better AI, better combat, better level design, better stealth and a setting and story that aren't terribly boring and generic
Instead of kickspamming like a moron with ADHD, Dishonored introduced a "kick" spell that uses Mana but can be actually more useful in combat, another massive improvement
>it was x but everything was different
Thief would be a more obvious comparison but ok
Nope, it's literally Dark Messiah without Call of Duty levels and a dogshit leveling system. It has far more in common with that than Thief
>Witch house for endgame
No, it wasn't, delilah alone brought it down with her shitty final bossfight
Except Daud DLCs were KINO of the highest order
dishonored wishes it had combat half as fun as dark messiah

this is incorrect
no kick
all fun powers only allowed if you decide to be a mass murderer otherwise you just never get to use them
level design and stuff sure, for a stealth game it works but otherwise it's just nonsense
Nobody on this board ever posted Dark Messiah gameplay except the same webm of kicking dudes and using barrels because all weapons do shit damage. It's just a recurring astroturfed meme that Dark Messiah is good

they finally started to get with deathloop (imperfect as it is) that maybe encouraging people to use all the mechanics in an action game is a good idea but the desperate outrage prostitutes on this cumguzzling website wouldn't let a discussion of it go by without accusing it of nonexistent "wokeness"

Yeah the chaos thing was moronic
Like yeah you can play a pretty easy stealth game where you blink past half of the challenges or you can use the actual fun mechanics and get punished by the story for it

The writing behind multiple characters shows the game is trying to make you feel bad for picking the chaos route, especially with Samuel.

They do it with Emily as well, mainly in the sense of "look what a bad influence you are on this poor innocent girl"!
But yes, Samuel shouldn't be handwaved. He's the most blatant example of the game trying to moralgay you. It's actually hilarious that people on this board try to defend this considering what Arkane became as a developer. You really going to handwave someone's coughing when they later ended up terminally ill? The homosexualry that became modern Arkane started out with them trying to insert hamfisted moralgayging into Dishonored.

That's a weird way to spell "Harvey becoming an Anita Sarkeesian simp after she criticized Dishonored 1". It's why as soon as Daud's DLCs you have the female gang leader Lizzy Stride and female gang members. It's why The Corroded Man retconned Lady Boyle's ending because "rape icky". It's why Wyman in D2 is sold to you as gender neutral. It's why they made Daud asexual. It's why there are zero references to prostitution ala Golden Cat. It's why half the elite guards in the game are female. It's why Mind Blanchard is transexual. It's why Karnaca's old duke, Stilton, Delilah and Breanna are all homosexual. None of this shit existed in Dishonored, not any more than it existed in Dark Messiah or Arx Fatalis.

You don't get bothered that Anita criticised you without being a homosexual to begin with.
Hell I'm even hesitant to say better stealth since the powers just let you skip the stealth most of the time. Didn't help that it tried to draw unfavourable comparisons to thief.
This is bait but I feel like replying anyway- Dishonored is too easy. In Dark Messiah you abuse your powers and the environment because enemies are bullshit with nearly instant attacks and kill you in 2-3 hits, and that makes it fun.
In Dishonored not only are you WAY stronger, but enemies are even weaker than they are in DM. There's very little stopping you from just headclicking with the crossbow or pistol and that's a bad thing. It's fun when games do things to incentivize you to use your head and try new things.
nta but according to the Rapture novel, the buildings were built on shore then sunk down to the bottom of the ocean. The first game plays pretty loose with its timeline, only really stating that the city is founded in 1946 and the civil war starts in January 1st 1959 >"Of course, the buildings are being fabricated above the waves. But we will lower them on a lunette ring, submerged into the structure's steel frames. "So much steel!" you wonder. "How will we keep so large a purchase from the government?" Water is buoyant. We shall not frame Rapture in steel, but in aluminium. The government jackals may suspect me of building an air force -- but never a city…"
why is Emily so hated on this board. I don't see anything wrong with her
>Not really hot >A little cool, but not enough to carry her character (worse mask compared to corvo too) >Bland spoken lines (Really, the empress/assassin didn't have anything fun to say?) >Optional >The game is set in cuba or whatever, a place completely unrelated to her(Instead of the capital of HER fricking empire) >All spotlight is stolen by writer's dogshit waifu Delilah
For Emily the game was rigged from the start. Shame, it could be a solid passing of the torch. Also they should have given her a boy to thirst over
I wanna replay Bioshock, but it seems like a pain in the dick to do so on PC.
My limited knowledge of the Remastered versions which I got on the epic giveaway is that they're just a more soulless version of the OG, but from what I know the OG game is a pain in the ass to get running on modern machines because of compatibility issues.
I remember there once in the day being a mod to fix the low fps ragdolls, is that still around? and is there an easy config shortcut to increasing the fov?
The Remastered versions are shit if you care about the original dev intent because instead of polishing what's there, they replaced it with new stuff ie using completely different photos as reference for the updated textures, stuff like that. The result being you can end up with a room that has different patterns in the tiles and an off-color wall texture. It's small stuff most players won't care about but it's there.
There were weird compatibility issues but I cant even remember what they are. I remember trying to replay the series when the remasters were released and figured out they were a complete mess and crashed every 40 minutes, I then looked into just replaying the original and gave up when I saw how much of a pain in the ass it would be to get it running.
>2024 >left handed mode still isnt the standard with any first person game >its not even a niche thing, no game has it >not even RPGs
Leftybros...
Every shooter should have a button that swaps which arm you are firing from, it actually impacts gameplay because it determines your ability to fire projectiles from around certain corners. I'll know what a game dev truly gives a shit when I actually see a shooter do this.
When shooting, your dominant eye is more important than your dominant hand. Despite being right-handed, I hold rifles left-handed because I'm left-eye dominant and I'd rather not lean my head further over the stock.
>Cyclone trap a splicer >hit it with a rocket spear as it's flying around >spazzes out, launches into a corner, blows up

Anybody here know what route to take?
I have the original on Steam and it worked fine (windows 10), so if you can find a crack it shouldn't have compatibility issues
I remember there once in the day being a mod to fix the low fps ragdolls, is that still around? and is there an easy config shortcut to increasing the fov?

Who the frick told you it's difficult to run bioshock on modern pcs? The only difference in the remasters is they load in textures slower
Every single time I've read about it, I hear about compatibility options, how it straight up won't run on windows 10 and shit like that.
downloading the GOG version now, hoping you're right.
Looked up some physics fps unlocker fix too, here we go.

I'm not even left handed, but gun in left hand and right for spells just makes more sense when you're using their respective mouse buttons.
Old versions of Counter-Strike defaulted to left handed, which is also why all the gun designs are mirrored.
Every shooter should have a button that swaps which arm you are firing from, it actually impacts gameplay because it determines your ability to fire projectiles from around certain corners. I'll know what a game dev truly gives a shit when I actually see a shooter do this.
homie I can't even write with my left hand, most people aren't abidextrous.
you don't need to be ambidextrous to blindly fire around a corner from a different shoulder
You also likely can't do parkour along rooftops but vidya is all about playing someone more capable then you.
When shooting, your dominant eye is more important than your dominant hand. Despite being right-handed, I hold rifles left-handed because I'm left-eye dominant and I'd rather not lean my head further over the stock.
Remnant does this.
You didn't beat the game
I just threw up a little
