I played the first one because at the time I only had a PS4 and thought it was pretty enjoyable but not enough to ever buy a sequel
the actual gameplay is incredibly well done, the way machines all have multiple hardpoints that can be destroyed to disable abilities, multiple weak points that can be interacted with in different ways with different damage types, a large amount of actual unique weapons that all function differently and serve different purposes, etc.
absolutely everything else about the game is very mid, the story in the first game was decent enough, it went a little off the rails in the sequel, the blatant leftist and feminist politics is grating, aloy is hit or miss, it's like different cutscenes were animated by different people using slightly different models, sometimes she looks like she almost has downs and is extremely autistic and moronic looking, then sometimes she looks extremely cute, it's weird and offputting

I loved Killzone and still mourn its loss. I did really enjoy the first Horizon game because it was so very unique; I put about 90 hours in total, most of which was just wandering around exploring and fighting monsters for fun, not following objectives/story. The machines and world really appealed to me. The beauty of the mountains and different biomes is really something. The sequel is even better in all ways but to be honest is so similar to the first that I've found it kind of boring so far. I got the sequel for free on PSN, I have downloaded it three times but not finished. Anyway that's my blog. If you liked the first one, this one will be good, but may be too similar. I hope they make Killzone 4 some day but I think in the current SJW situation impossible.
I have PC+PS for this reason, basically covers most games. Now that I have nephews and nieces I may get a Nintendo Switch 2 when it comes out just to stay competent in things like Mario Kart so they can be properly humbled.

Absolutely. Combat is great and if you play on very hard or higher you actually need to think about how you're gonna approach certain monsters with weaknesses, targeting parts etc. Also the game looks pretty good and the story is decent.

I'm not an open world fan but I liked Days Gone and the first Dying Light. I liked both of them because the transportation method (the bike, parkour) felt very good and not tedious; hated the Dying Light DLC due to forcing you to drive a shitty car.
How does the first Horizon game fares about your travel method?
You tame a robot deer or bull and ride it, might be a few other mounts. Second one has flying mounts
Pretty mediocre. It can feel very nice to break a robostag the first couple times, and have a mount to ride around on, but significant portions of the game take place in instances areas that force you to go on foot (99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the story), and more still require stealth.
For the $10 or less you can get the first game for now (on pc, on ps it's on ps+ collection so it's always 'free' with a sub) it's worth playing, but I wouldn't expect anything so fulfilling as dying light 1's parkour or days gone's chopper.
You're running everywhere, or you can override almost any beast to become a mount. In the 2nd game you get a glider, and towards the endgame you get a flying mount. Im talking like 2 missions before the end, Im assuming its cause PS4s would explode.
The DLC being PS5 only has the flying mount always accessible. So I'd say your travel method experience may vary, but you got options.

This and Ghosts of Tsushima have some of the worst 3D movement in a Sony game. I'm not including God of War because there's no dedicated jump button so your movement feels oddly tethered and plays differently as a result.

It's a pity these games are so mind-numbingly woke. The core ideas are pretty fun. There's potential in there, buried under rainbow flags and fat feminists.
Something I find repulsive about the gameplay is that whenever you apply a special power or buff, there is this special dynamic camera moment that does a close up on her hideous face as she applies a different face paint. The devs are so proud of the ugly goblin they've made that they made sure the camera always zooms in on her face during these moments.
those abilities are all shitty anyway, all but one of them aren't even worth the skill points they cost, I played through the game on hard and literally never used any of them
