Ok im getting annoyed, because I used to know this website that had a big list of really cool underrated arcade games, mostly from the 90s and typically Japan only. But it's been completely fricking buried by modern day search engine algorithms. All that comes up are fricking awful "top 10" journalist posts and shitty useless forum threads.
So now I must go to /vr/ to rebuild my mame rom folder. What are some great unknown arcade games? Not looking for shmups btw, because theres billions of those. Bonus points if it has really good presentation and artstyle. Also bonus points if it's japanese developed or exclusive, not looking for western.

My explorations into rom libraries recently have brought up Eight Man, and Dynamite Duke, which are both pretty sick games I don't hear people talk about.
No idea if those are considered well known. I'm not deep into the arcade scene.
The only kind of obscure one I remember is Martial Masters. Forget how I even found it. There's also some YouTube channel that posts gameplay of various arcade games
Taiwanese games are a whole other world. There's some really cool looking beat em up I saw a while ago, that I completely forgot the name of.

In 2021 a virus started infecting humans and turns them into monsters. Cursed Children have a trace ammount of the virus, which gives them powers, so they pair with officers to defeat monsters. Some children are really weak so have no partner and end up homeless and usually murdered by civilians and cops due to the stigma surrounding them. This one in particular is blind, so will probably starve to death.

I discovered MAME 20 years ago. Damn, it brought back memories AND opened a whole new world to me. Haven’t kept up with it for like half a decade though.
