Gameplay is surprisingly fun since turn order for multiple tunr is shown to you via the "cards/icons" on the bottom of screen, positioning your characters, and performing actions use those up (and character specific %s) so you need to time and align them for AOE along with enemy attacks and AOEs.
Music is actually pretty good, and story though kind of cliche gets the point across with some curveballs. Final boss actually has a good reason to fight you (because you're instigating the situation) and it's a complete game with no DLC content.
It's surprisingly good JRPG and pretty challenging at times as well

i remember playing soul caliber 4, star wars force unleashed, castle crashers, halo 3, N+, guitar hero 3 and world tour, rockband 1 and 2 and other game around that time
I remember really enjoying Arc Rise Fantasia (after you turn the voice audio down to 0, obviously). I liked the way combat was handled, the way each weapon was a little puzzle and how half your team ditches you to hang out with your arch enemy instead.
I'd also argue it has one of the best boss themes in any JRPG:

Aren't they though? It's really iconic and has this wild ring to them. I really enjoy it.
I think it's also because of the bass that amplifies it. Like the underlying pressure makes if feel like you're going to get your shit pushed in, and that usually happens.

Yeah. Most of the bosses in ARF were above average in difficulty, but some where just mind-breaking. I remember fighting that prince dude who's name I forgot, and the other half of your party that defected on a beach somewhere and it was a nightmare that took a billion attempts to beat. Fun fight though.
My autism made me grind for that. And then several dungeons later, I got killed by that sunflower on the cliffside.
Oh yeah I remember that fight being rape too. I wish more JRPGs had the balls to do this. Make you really earn those victories.
atleast grinding is easy since the normal encounters can just be auto'd

I remember ARF being one of the first big censorship moments with that one girls outfit.
They simply added more fabric to cover up Leslie's underboobs both on the model and art. Otherwise, she's still basically just wearing some loose half-pants, a bra, and gloves.
Oh yeah, I don't remember her top being cut THIS high in my English copy.
That being said she's still dressed pretty skimpily in the NA version.

I don't even understand why they bothered with it. Only a small handful of attacks actually exposed her underboob and it's not like she's dressed conservatively in the NA version either.

I remember this being huge when it came out as one of the "core" ARPGs for the Wii. I heard it even managed some pretty neat motion stuff.

I always liked being able to pass along turns in turn-based games. Forcing my obvious healer to take action for no reason except that it's his/her turn is silly when it's not for healing. Giving that turn to someone else is a nice addition.
