As in a game update. Usually the game updates and they add new skins/items/content/whatever. There's still a skin in the games files Summitseeker Evie that hasn't been released, once she's released, there are no unreleased skins that can be added to the shop and they need to update the game and add more skins into the files.
I believe the last update that added content to the game was December 7th, Since they had a 2 week break for christmas and the halfway mark of the Season is in like 11 days and that adds Solid Snake it's been a very long time since the game has been updated.
That wasn't a patch that added content to the game, there wasn't an update pushed that required a download. Those were items already in the game that were enabled.
I know everyone shits on the game, but MMOs have a lot to learn from Fortnite.

Music licenses are expensive as frick so unless Epic's making gangbusters on the songs it's probably gonna eat away more money in the end, doesn't help that they purposely hold off on selling certain skins due to them not having lego variants. That and they're also supposedly got ANOTHER open world PvE mode in the works currently too and that's on top of the 800 layoffs from last year too.
Fortnite used to be a whack ass tower defense survival building game that sucked mega ass (I've played it) they then quickly slapped together a joke game mode in 2 months called Battle Royale. This mode became so moronicly successful that all development pivoted to it and Save the World doesn't fricking exist.
Thus, they have bought the guys who made Rockband and Rocket League and collabed with Lego specifically to make side modes that will draw in more varied players than hardcores that want to just shoot each other in Battle Royale. They're attempting to diversify their playerbase and turn Fortnite into an "everything game" or a "metaverse" that will have something for everyone.

i don't think they've retroactively changed any BR models besides removing jiggle physics, but i could be wrong. they've definitely nerfed T&A in new models over time, and they've censored BR versions of STW characters.

the trick is to earn the 100-200 vbux for free through the free shit the battle pass allows you to get several times until you have the 950 for 1 battle pass, then you just keep earning 1200 or more each battle pass and buy one or two things here and there but save up enough for the next pass. or just get the cheap 4-5$ pack that gives 600 vbux

Total BP skins barely make up a fraction of the 1726 skins that exist in this game. There are 206 BP skins from the very start to now. You own around 400 shop skins. You paid full price money for skins you don't use. You have a problem.
The only skins I actually go back to and run because I like them is fat Jonesy and RTL for the meme emotes. I dont even use desirable stuff like Meow Skulls because she is only appealing in fanart. I'm also not gorging on sloppa so I don't use the cape shit or anything like Peter.

I'm playing zero build, and yes, I'm dogshit. Even if my aim is solid from playing competitive shooters, my movement is dogshit tier, how can I git gud at it?
Whenever I shoot a player once, they literally start flying, dashing and jumping towards me, killing me with a couple shotgun shells while my character is out of stamina and walking like he's 400 pounds, it feels like we're not even playing the same game.
