                >It's a game that uses a battle pass for it's business model
It's like the single least predatory battlepass of all games. Compare it to Dota 2 which invented Battlepass where you have to pay like 300 bucks to get a skin they REMOVED
                >Microtransaction shop that is exploitative of children
See above, other games have outright gambling with lootboxes like most Valve games.
                >It's a battle royale game in 2023
                Nice argument?
                >It uses characters from varying properties with no sense of cohesion whatsoever
Yeah like Super Smash like people praise like crazy here and makes the board unusable because of the hype it makes.
                >has politically related events like the holocaust museum and black history month stuff in the cartoon game where john wick dabs on thanos which is incredibly tonally inconsistent
You mean the events where you could throw tomatos at the screen and do whip lash emotes at black people?
                >The de-listing of the Unreal Tournament franchise can be through-linked directly to Epic's hubris born of fortnite
What does that have to do with the game?
                >gave Epic Games Store enough money to start holding games hostage to their shitty store instead of spending that money on making the store better
                See above

So your entire argument is that it has a battlepass...which is not even predatory at all compared to other games. Could you please actually list some GAMEPLAY stuff?

The gameplay is general passable for what it is but is in no way outstanding. Battlepasses are shite. The design and gameplay loop is about driving players to spend to feel a rush from their purchases, rather than giving them actual value. The aesthetic design and artwork is disgusting, all very calarts adjacent, seemingly designed for infantile autistic festhism. The playerbase they have actively sought out and promoted the game to are intellectually and emotionally immature and obnoxious in real terms, I don't mean that in a gamers being gamers sense, I mean they are actually children because they are more susceptible the the game's marketing, and playing with those drooling children is detrimental to the experience, both for adults and other children. It is also single handedly responsible for EGS and the anti-consumer and consumer manipulation practices that platform pushes. Never mind all that though, I'm sure you're happy getting "free" games you'll never play while jerking off to Chun Li flossing.

Exactly like above, you mostly just complain about the microtransactions which is way better than the regular standard.

                2) DOTA and CS:GO are frequented by gambling addicts and korean webcafe denizens respectively, where Fortnite is frequented by children who sneak onto Ganker to sulk when they're forced to stop playing Fortnite by their parents.

Actual playerbase skews a bit older with a mix of german perverts, snapback cap wearing americatards and terrorist sympathisers from Dubai.
Fortnite playerbase on the other hand has always been underage fat kids who build parasocial relationships with Ninja and DrDisrespect.

Because I don't play CS:GO or DOTA and don't think their lootboxes are defensible either, I have no attachment to valve outside of how good their storefront and work on proton is (I'd abandon them in a heartbeat for GOG or itch.io if those stores caught up with steam's features in their launcher).

Meanwhile, you play fortnite, you defend fortnite, and your argument in favor of it boils down to "B-BUT THE OTHER COMPANIES DID IT SO IT'S OKAY WHEN WE DO" which shows where your priorities are. When I don't like something, I respond by clicking the ignore button and moving onto something else in my wishlist, because steam gives me the tools to filter it almost completely out of sight and out of mind. Epic Games Store does not.

                >So why the frick are you in a thread about a game you don't play or a store you don't use?
Because I wanted to see people shit on Unreal Engine 5 and EGS. I care less about fortnite, unreal engine 5 and EGS are industry wide problems due to how unoptimized UE5 games have been and how EGS holds games hostage for a year. I can be interested in a game, and grieve the use of UE5 to make it, or EGS exclusivity holding it on a store that sucks.

I do not care about fortnite, I only bring up my dislike for it because it was asked.

No Steam no buy, simple as. "Epic exclusive" means nothing to anyone because no one acknowledges it as such; it just means a game is releasing for real a little later, since it only truly releases when it comes out on Steam. Also he launched EGS during the decline of Fortnite's popularity and relevance instead of at the peak. Never really had a chance. I've never even played Fortnite, but I would at least try if if it was on Steam, lol. As it stands the game simply doesn't exist to me. No Steam no try, simple as.

Using your logic, Valve is owned by The Netherlands because they're cooperating with local laws.
You cannot refute this argument and so I accept your concession.

Steam got banned in China two years ago. Meanwhile you can easily access EGS in China.

Epic, miHoYo, Netease, tencent, bytedance all work close withe the CCP than Valve.
Did you mean "western" gaming companies? Hmm, I can't imagine ANY western company courting the chinese market and compromising their products to appease and work with the CCP.

Yes, I'm still waiting for you to address all four arguments. You have no counter-argument for:

this is the closest to what has actually happened, but it was in 2017, and again it was done by the Chinese company PerfectWorld, not Valve, and required complying with Chinese advertisment standards, no element of Valve working directly with the CCP. Don't know why I'm explaining this though because "still waiting" tencent-kun seems to have died already. Being mean to someone so indignantly wrong is fun tho.

It's going to remain as the king of AA games, with maybe one or two AAA and some irrelavnt asset flip indies using it.
But like UE4 it's going to be mostly used for AA.

Epic removing Unreal Tournament was the final nail in the coffin. I don't care if you support them at all but to remove the game that put you on the map for sale shows they are beyond saving
Imagine if Valve delisted half life
