I guess they were holding out hope for a based route. There's even a petition that's garnered thousands of signatures to have the patch changed. Obviously that wont happen but it shows how unhappy they are.

Apparently the company has said they're a bit understaffed for the size of their game and therefor place higher priority on creating new content over bugfixing and balancing, because while balancing and bug fixing makes the game better it's the new content that keeps old players coming back and new players coming in. They say they're catching up now though and will likely get some more work done on bugs
