While One Step From Eden is a fine game, sadly its differences from Battle Network end up being a net negative in my opinion. Though I'm sure some anons will feel differently and appreciate the suggestion.
>dude what if we made a worse version of MMBN's combat and stripped out everything else that made the game interesting too and then shilled it in every MMBN thread for the rest of time
Bruh there's only like 5 mmbnlikes so far
Stop being mad the best looking one that doesn't have Black folk and an ugly western artstyle gets shilled in these threads sometimes
If you have one you like shill it
Goddammit it I don't have them all written down uh I'm just gonna cheat and Google it

Of those (aside from OSFE), Lunar Lux is the only one I knew about, it seems alright. Also Endcycle Vs isn't early access, it's also on sale for $8.99 (30 bucks normally) and the only thing really stopping me from giving it a go is the fact that it's a Roguelike and I fricking hate that shit. Isotope Ash seems okay though.

>didn't even list Shanghai.exe >lists LunarLux when it has nothing in common and just put posters of Mega Man everywhere in-game as references to what the dev likes
feel like it wouldn't even be that hard to implement in a roguelite, just have players pick between a random selection of basic chips before a run and they are able to find more as the run progresses through whatever means, unlocking more chips in a binding of isaac style progression. maybe someone will realize my dream.
Not really an improvement, but you reminded me that I had a dream where you now had a semi-circular field around an enemy, and you had to use move chips in tandem with battle chips to better position yourself because the enemy moving would also move your semi-circle field, ruining your positioning if you weren't actively running around all the time.
Timestop is shite tbhne
Just make navichips and equivalents transform you into the characters they represent
Eden’s problem was the bullshit readability and the limited ability to play your selection however you want
Timestop is okay in single player context, but in multiplayer it gets just silly.
Timestop also carries the issue that you often just wind up building up a combo (with +dmg chips, full synchro, or whatever other buffs) and then let it dish out a bunch of damage without requiring too much skill. I kind of would prefer if navi chips kind of became like summons that you call upon to do an attack, while you are still able to move and do something else. Balancing that can be another can of worms, but it would be little more interesting than bunch of FlashMan, PlantMan, Snake, or similar things.
It was a good kind of mess. The frantic scramble to get your moronic homemade meme combo to work while trying to counter your friend's equally stupid shit on the fly was amazing.
But how could it be improved further?
OPEN WORLD GRID
So like, 50x50 instead of 3x3
>that fricker who runs lavastage
If you just want the combat and none of the rpg stuff you should try One Step From Eden. Its a Slay the Spire clone with Battle Network combat.
No I need a riveting story. Only losers play games solely for the gameplay.
Go play Monopoly you fricking idiot.
>I need a riveting story.
Capcom won't make games where you save naked e-girls anymore, anon. It's over. You gotta take what you can get now.
>No I need a riveting story
You never got one from BN
I could tell 10 minutes into the game the writing was going to be mediocre.
Not really, no.

battle network without rounds and picking chips just isn't as satisfying.
Right? I feel like most mmbnlikes miss that aspect

By removing the copyright on the chip select menu for fricking starters
Nobody can make BN clones because of that
>copyright
You probably mean patent. Unsure if the battle system has any patents remaining, since the navi customizer patent has expired.

I liked one step from eden but why are all bn indies like this

SO THEN MY TRANS KID
WENT TO Ganker AND
Making an RPG with progression, exploration, and deck building where you have to attempt to balance it is way more work.

Timestop is cool though
It's like slow mo, It's more dramatic
Yeah I guess
It does give some time to strategize too
But timestop counters are fricking asinine

That isn't twewy
2 screens but I only have two eyes?
gater
They’re all either shitty, incomplete, or both other than Shanghai.EXE, and Shanghai still has an incomplete postgame.
Only works for single-player. In MP, it's a mess.

>shademan
Then why is nobody playing online?
I'm making an MMBN-like. What should I put in it?
please for the love of god keep rounds
