Nice job I spent 4 hours of retrying Chapter 7 on Very Hard to beat it
I don't think I have the stamina to do such a thing anymore
Just spent 3 days trying to do this on very hard but I just started the game monday. I already did the rest on Very Hard, I had to learn a couple techniques to get through them especially this one. Samurai Goroh, Pico, Michael Chain, Black Bull, Blood Falcon, Skull, Zoda, and John Tanaka can kill themselves.
Congrats.
I hate Megawiener so much it's unreal.
New Fzero game when?
It's time to let go, Anon...
They brought back pikmin. They brought back mario rpg. they're bringing back metroid prime. We WILL get an F-zero continuation, it WILL be shit, and then finally a year after that we'll get a GODLY f-zero game. it is known.
>they brought back pikmin
pikmin never really left, miyamoto has always kept it around in some fashion. F-Zero has had literally nothing since 2004.
They was a big gap between 2 and 3. Aint noone counting hey pikmin
it counts whether you like it or not, so do the 1/2 motion control ports. Just look at Skyward Sword, that game has sold more on switch than it ever sold on Wii
Mario Kart is still selling like crazy, and they'd just be competing with themselves with that. The person behind Star Fox and F-Zero, Imamura, retired a few years ago and spoke about how he doubt it'll happen any time soon and how expensive it'd be to make. Amusement Vision was the biggest influence on how GX was GX, and they're gone now, and what's left is working on Yakuza or NetEase.
Maybe someday it'll happen (there was a Nintendo Land game, at the very least), but I'm not holding my breath any time soon.
My one question: Given Sega lost the Monkey Ball source code, and GX was made on the Monkey Ball engine by Amusement Vision/Sega, does Nintendo even have the source code to use for a port?
Nintendo used to have variety in racers prior to the Wii U though it peaked with 64
>Mario Kart
>F-Zero
>Excitebike
>Waverace
>1080 snowboarding
>Diddy Kong Racing
the GC kept most of those sans Diddy Kong and Excitebike, also Kirby Air Ride a cult classic even though the (arguably) non-racing mode like City Trial was most revered
then then Wii came and the only other prominent Nintendo racers were Excitetrucks and Excitebots, there was that Donkey Kong rocket barrel game that was gimmicky and mediocore
now with Wii U and Switch Nintendo doesn't even try other than Mario Kart
is not just Nintendo though, Forza and Mario Kart are pretty much the only racing games that exists, does sony even bother with Gran Turismo and Wipeout anymore?
They used to have variety in general. Hence why to me the gamecube era was the best they ever had after SNES.
>But it didn't sell over 100 million...
Not an employee there or a shareholder so I don't care what doesn't affect me.
It would be simple enough for them to take a mario kart break and switch it up. consumers like that kind of thing, regardless of what Ganker thinks of nintenkiddies
The GX/AX team said they won't make another one unless they possess the means to improve it, GX is as good as F-Zero is ever gonna be and we just have to accept it as a perfect game.
I wouldn't mind a port though in the vein of Metroid Prime on Switch.
Port with custom tracks that you can post and download.
F-zero X had that track editor that only got released in Japan. That alone on a modern engine would make a new game worthwhile IMO.
If it is perfect, what is stopping Nintendo from doing a modern port with more bells and whistles? I doubt a port with some additions would be that costly and would serve well to introduce people to the best F-Zero has to offer as well as gauge general interest.
Miyamoto is unironically butthurt that Sega made a better F-Zero than him so he put the series on ice. I'm not lying it's literally Japanese pride that is preventing us from getting a new F-Zero game.
Never lose hope.
The Captain will return one day outside of Smash.
they could at least make a fricking spin-off
Kirby and Mario get a bunch of random spin-offs using their IPs that aren't their iconic platformers why can't Captain Falcon get something?!?!
I would fricking love a spin-off in the style of Yakuza, like FotNS Lost Paradise. Just go through Mute City, catch bounties, and occasionally have the high speed races as the boss battles or whatever.
eh, I think the story parts is best left as open ended up for interpretations left in just racer profiles, scenes and subtle details, but I wouldn't mind if that exists
I see the cast of F-Zero like is Pro-Wrestling with larger than life characters that are exaggerated for the purpose of entertainment and making the grandprix a bigger spectacle
>I see the cast of F-Zero like is Pro-Wrestling with larger than life characters that are exaggerated for the purpose of entertainment and making the grandprix a bigger spectacle
That's a cool idea.
do the characters maintain kayfabe in their everyday lives when no one else is around
Falcon definitely does

sorry I meant to say $60
I just want an online F-Zero game before I die. it's not asking too much.
Next F-Zero game should be PC exclusive and have an uncapped framerate. FACT.
Never ever
>Durr hurr next game will just be same with better graphics and we didn't even make DX so no!
ANY DAY NOW
how the frick do you even do this shit without the black bull cheese at the start
I frickin' wish
you don't, there's a reason a previous chapter is entirely about destroying opponent vehicles
Guess you're right, but then you have to deal with Blood Hawk having moron health too
Chapter 1 teaches racing lines
Chapter 2 teaches conserving boost
Chapter 3 teaches air and quick turns in a real race
Chapter 4 teaches combat
Chapter 5 teaches handling during high speed
Chapter 6 teaches precision movements
And then chapter 7 pus them all to the test with 30 racers that cheat on a very dangerous track.
*29 racers i forgot you were one of the 30
you aren't cheating, RIGHT anons?
I already know all of that, it doesn't change the fact the track is bullshit and you need to beat two cheating pieces of shit. M1 and M5 on VH still dwarf it in pure technical skill it's just M7 is pure bullshit. M9 is just time trial with no rails
Very Hard missions 7 is hoping you don't get robbed at the end by a hyper booster like skull or even goroh. One time I was in 2nd at the last boost pad before the energy strip and goroh just came out of nowhere with a spin attack and fricked me on the last lap. Or the times when you're in the middle of the pack and get rammed the wrong way and you stop sticking to the track. 7 is pretty bullshit yeah though I don't even know if I hate it since it made me a lot better at the game once I beat it. Still don't ever really wanna do it again.
7 is probably the only VH I'll never bother attempting again after I beat it. I don't hate it, it's just not fun.
Did it once as a kid and still have the save file. Attempted it recently and had a laugh at how hard even the first level was and said frick this.
play Big Blue on 200cc with the Blue Falcon. There's your new F-Zero game.
midwit take, is like saying Metroid in Nintendoland is a suitable Metroid game
They should at least make Captain Falcon himself playable.
What's that? Another F-Zero X port? Coming right up!
where do I find this track?
Story mode chapter 7. You need to go to the in-game custom ship parts store to buy the story missions from a section called Items I think.
It took me a bit to realize that this game had a story with cutscenes and all.
Congratulations.
It gets even harder.
I don't think there's anything harder on the game
Getting first place in Slim-line Slits.
>Slim-line Slits
could be
>Steals 1st place every time unless you kill her
I KNEEL
Mighty Gazelle was the most notorious cheater on my end, fricker is always 1st
I'd be so fricking thrilled as a kid if I coud ride that, or even now. That's awesome.
yfw I pull up next to you in that
>canonically hated by spectators due to his robotics giving him better reaction times
even in-universe he cheats
SEXOOOOOO
The main reason the anime failed in the west is because they took away her muscles, according to Miyamoto.
Even without her delicious abs they were still the best part of the anime
That's bullshit but I believe it.
She looked better in X.
lolno
X's artwork is kinda bad.
I'm mainly talking about the red hair.
>can finish Trident and Dragon Slope 15+ seconds ahead of the master level AI
>take 27th on Slim-line Slits, only because i killed 3 racers during it
I only managed to take first on it once, with the Astro Robin, and only after resetting the GP like 30 times to get the Red Gazelle/Meteors/Twin Norrita out of the lineup
play as a custom ship that has fat shark's driver or as fat shark and you're good
>In 1st on final lap
>final bend too, boost like crazy to the finish
>suddenly *fffffffFFFFFWOOOSHHH*
>ai racer breaks light speed and flies through the air past you and into 1st place
absolute bullshit
That's why I always have one finger over the X button so I can press it out of reflex the moment anything comes close.
I'm not paranoid, it's a tested and true practice... haha
>thinking your babby boost can outspeed megawiener and his gaggle of juiced minions
?t=498
frick that bullshit at 8:20
kek it's always Gazelle pulling that shit on my end
I was thinking "why isn't he getting the extra speed from hitting the boost pad's edges?"
Then I realized that only applies in Diddy Kong Racing.
Actually that does exist in F-Zero GX. It's like a 1.1x multiplier but the boost pads have a pretty small hitbox so you gotta be precise.
According to CGN you need to hit the boost pad at the farthest possible point to get the extra boost so it's only really useful for TAS.
I was stuck on Deathborne and the final stage at rainbow road for much longer than megawiener.
Though often ignored a few of the staff ghosts in GX are pretty nasty. Particularly the one for the first track of the game which might just be the hardest time trial in the game. It uses advanced techniques if I remember right and even with the best custom machine beating it vanilla is near impossible.
There's also
but again you don't need to get 1st in it to win the GP it's in.
I like to win on F-Zero by killing the ones that are on the top, it's more interesting than being first on each race, so yeah, GP isn't harder unless you really want that first place
I did a couple of the staff ghost including mute city. I thought split oval was harder, drift highway was pretty easy though. Was expecting that one to be hell.
Chapter 8 was a bit challenging on Very Hard but nowhere near this, and 9 wasn't that bad either. 1 was tough as well it took me an hour, 2 was easy goroh just died, 3 was the easiest, 4 was annoying but not too bad, 5 took 3 hours and i barely beat it, 6 was easy just be gentle. If Master makes everyone like Chapter 7 I'm fricked.
Master is nowhere near as hard as Chapter 7.
There are really only a handful of racers that will give you a run for your money. Story mode on very hard makes you a god at the game so you will be just fine in a master difficulty GP. You don't even have to place 1st in every race.
I suck dick at the shorter Big Blue track and sometimes come in 15th or lower and can still place 1st for the total points.
Master's difficulty is bolstered by the fact that you are stuck on the Blue Falcon, which is merely a middling vehicle in the grand scheme of GX. It could be worse but it could be better.
If the GX story took place with some pretend OC letting you play custom machine it wouldn't be nearly as notoriously hard. However if it gave you Silver Rat or Pico's machine it would be some hot garbage.
Why are Silver Rat and Blue Angler so fricking dogshit. Can't think of a single redeeming feature for either.
Doesn't Leon's description pretty much say he's a loser with a garbage machine?
Who are objectively the best and worst racers?
I usually get very good results with Falcon. He's one of my mains and if you're a cheeky c**t he also has a pretty decent snake.
Falcon is far from the worst from the pack, might be above average even, I'd have to make the count. I do think in every aspect Phoenix has a better machine.
Despite their hard unlock AX's racers are largely very crummy with the notorious exception of Fat Shark and the aforementioned Phoenix. The rest are average to bad.
QQQ and PJ are pretty good. Crazy Taxi has great steering and rarely slips unless you want it to. Rolling Turtle gets a lot of boost out of boost pads similar to Fat Shark.
I'm still very bummed Magic Seagull is as shit as it is. It's so slow, the supposed good boost doesnt really help. It's also just so wide.
It looks cool as frick though and I played as him and Princia more than I should have just because I like the look of their ship.
Some of the ships have awesome sounding boosts too like Night Thunder.
the Fat Shark is laughably OP, it's honestly impressive they made something that far ahead of the rest of the machines.
It can't turn for shit though.
>quick turn
>only downside completely removed
god bless that trick
Is that where you press both L and R to make it drift? I see speedrunners do some goofy shit where you make it drift then hold drift in the opposite direction than where you're turning and if you can do it without hitting a wall it gets you to moronic ground speeds of like 4-5000kph.
It's where you press both those in a turn for a split second, and quickly let go of the button opposite your turn. So L+R>only L for turning left.
Doing this makes your turn twice as tight.
I think GX's manual and bio state that Leon was an war orphan, and that they decided after the war to enter a driver and vehicle into F-ZERO, to show people what they were still capable of after a massive planetary war. While Leon isn't that good of a driver and a bit of a dofus at times, he is generally well liked by the paddock, genuinely cares about his home planet and its orphans, desperately wishes to win for them... Only for the Space Angler to be one of the biggest shitboxes on the grid, leading him to trundle around the back of the field in most races. With the AX racers joining, you can imagine Leon struggling badly to even qualify to keep that shitbox on the grid. Poor guy doesn't doesn't seem to catch a break.
>Who are objectively the best and worst racers?
pretty sure objective best is far shark and black bull but because fat shark is annoying to unlock and black bull requires you make 0 mistakes or you lose all your speed I find sonic phantom is really good for how you can just unlock him in under 30m but maybe im just biased because he's a cool skeleton man
>Who are objectively the best and worst racers?
Couldn't say who's worst but Hyper Speeder is really fricking good. Don't listen to that homosexual talking about Fat Shark and Black Bull, that involves using glitches.
>Hyper Speeder
Utterly kino machine. Beastman found a centuries-old wrecked F-15S Strike Eagle during one of his hunts, and decided that it was the perfect thing to base a competitive F-ZERO machine on. Great stuff.
F-Zero's world outside of just the racing sounds like Votoms or some other old sci-fi anime.
Isn't his Eagle a single-seater? Still, absolute kino as you said. The triple tail and engines does dirty things to me, especially in GX where you can see the path of the front intakes lining right up.
>no canards
>no wings at all actually, unlike the Little Wyvern
>no horizontal thrust vectoring a la F-15 ACTIVE
>no momentum turbo sliding
>just 45,000+ lbf of thrust and a hatred of fricking l*zard shits
Hyper Speeder is cool as frick and Beastman has one of the best tracks and cutscenes.
They're a little more unwieldy but Fat Shark and Black Bull are good vehicles even without glitches.
Some of the standout machines outside of them and Hyper Speeder for me would be Sonic Phantom (The Skull) and Death Anchor (Zoda)
Nah, every Master Class Cup is doable after clearing Chapter 7 on Very Hard.
Now THIS on Master Class difficulty is something nearly impossible. Finishing around 15th on that track on Master Class is already a great result, frick that track.
>only way to beat it is to cheat with snaking or kill Black Shadow AND Blood Falcon within the first 10 seconds before they get an insane AI-boosted lead (or hope they kill themselves)
Great game design
they rubberband a lot, you can still win if you play good until the end, but yeah, you need to play really good and have a bit of luck there
Blood Falcon really isn't a problem, I've seen him get beat by random AIs a bunch of times.
>he didn’t bounce off the mine
They don't make em like this anymore
poor guy
SomethingAwful was great
I had ChatGPT translate this as if it were an angry letter written by an Victorian English gentleman.
My Dearest Sirs and Madams at Nintendo,
Permit me, if you would, to tender my grievances and lamentations with regard to your most perplexing and vexatious contraption. I find myself in the lamentable state of a hapless simian, reduced to a state of incoherence and folly by the wretched apparatus you have so providently bequeathed upon me. I am compelled, in my throes of anguish, to vocalize my frustrations, albeit in a most unladylike manner, and to inflict harm upon my own personage.
Indeed, I beseech you to recognize the gravity of my situation. I, a gentleman of refined disposition, have been driven to cavort with unseemly abandon, hurling feculent matter towards the luminous screen that projects your accursed invention. My futile exertions resemble the actions of some untamed, primitive beast, impotently striving to coerce the apparatus into compliance.
It is with the gravest sincerity that I implore your consideration for the matter at hand. I have been ensconced in my abode, endeavoring to derive satisfaction from your creation - a creation that is, by contractual agreement, intended to bestow merriment upon the purchaser. Yet, I find myself sorely deceived, for your creation seems to have adopted a malevolent inclination towards me, excreting its displeasure into my unsuspecting mouth, both warm and unpalatable.
By the heavens, were it not appropriate to invoke the esteemed name of the Divine, I would dare suggest that you ought to have crafted a discreet orifice within the very console, from which an appendage could emerge forthright, brandishing the symbolic gesture of contempt. For indeed, I am affronted to an astonishing degree by the assumption that your quality assurance personnel, or perhaps, if I may speak candidly, the testers you have employed - individuals who seem to possess intellects scarcely surpassing that of the common simian - have deigned Story Mode Chapter 7 suitable for a person endowed with an intellect of more than a single digit.
Prithee, permit me to appeal to your sense of reason, if such is within your grasp. The task at hand was ostensibly uncomplicated - secure the position of preeminence in the competition. A task that, in all candor, I am prepared to undertake with the same aplomb as I would the prestigious Grand Prix. Regrettably, your congregation of vision-impaired prodigies has elected, with unfathomable perplexity, to confer every conceivable advantage upon the game itself, rather than upon its human operator.
How, pray tell, does the once derided Black Shadow, whose vehicular conveyance ranks most ignobly amongst the dullest and weightiest of contraptions - I speak in this instance of the risible Crazy Bear - ascend to the zenith of vehicular prowess? A query of grave import, I assure you. How does he acquire such prodigious alacrity that he may remain ensconced in the vanguard sans the merest suggestion of propulsion? A conundrum for which answers elude me.
Yet, it is not solely Black Shadow who partakes in this sorcery; nay, the entire coterie of contestants seems infected by this preternatural celerity. They, each and every one, accelerate with a velocity most prodigious, unencumbered by the exigency of a turbo-boost.
Lo and behold, even I, a humble driver, am constrained to pilot an automaton driven by the exertions of a rodent, forsooth! Said automaton thirstily consumes its reservoir of vigour, exhaustively partaking in a mere quartet of accelerative surges. Moreover, the course upon which I ply my trade hath been rendered inhospitable by the malicious whim of some extraterrestrial deity, a space-faring tiki volcano, whose capricious emissions unerringly consume a quarter of one's vitality. A circumstance most jubilant, indeed.
I beseech you, do refrain from dismissing my concerns with the trite proclamation of challenge. I declare most unequivocally that such a demurral shall be categorically repudiated. The cacophonous protests from my end shall bear testament to this resolution. Pray, how can it be righteously decreed that the game, an inanimate contrivance, emerges triumphant while I, a sentient being, am deemed the vanquished?
Might I be so bold as to pose a query of speculative import? What shall be the consequence when the game does claim victory and I, in abject despondency, am relegated to defeat? Shall the game partake in a revelry of epic proportions, its virtual compatriots hoisting digital tankards in a jubilant soirée? Or perchance, a darker agenda is in play. Might one surmise that the family of the game is held captive by another, a more formidable game? Such a premise, I daresay, evokes my sympathy.
Allow me to express, with unwavering consternation, that this ordeal does not befit my predilections for recreation. I beseech you to reconsider, for your creation, if I may dare term it thus, has infringed egregiously upon its intended purpose - to grant diversion to its possessors. Should this contractual obligation remain unmet, you shall have failed egregiously in your avowed mission to furnish amusement. In this contest, I declare you the vanquished, and as I summon the spirits of defiance, I augur the scarlet affliction upon you, culminating in a most ungentlemanly demise.
I remain, in the throes of vexation,
[Your Name]
Beautiful.
I want a GX port for the reasons everyone else does, but I also want to see all the rage regarding story mode. Even on normal you often see many getting filtered by Chapter 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8. You remember how bad people were at Pikmin 1 this summer? Holy shit it'd be so funny but nothing will ever top
To be fair, pikmin 1 is clunky as frick gameplay wise and any complaints are warranted. F-Zero GX however has perfect gameplay and any failure is due to lack of skill.
I did it when I was 14.
Get gud
>THE FASTEST homosexual IN THE WORLD

Good jam tho.
You could get the AX characters and tracks from p putting your memory card into an AX unit as well right? Last time I saw one was in 2008 at a place that's been shut down for over a decade
Machine parts too. Nobody knows if there's still any in the UK.
Hurt like hell seeing some chink reseller on ebay destroy one to resell the scraps.
Heart of Gaming in Croydon, London had one up and running last I heard.
They sold it, according to my last investigation.
Jews.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1imqIyLV79feSjTHn3yJcWi_nZSQIIT82mioM9oipVTo/htmlview
Fricking hell, Ukraine has more F-Zero AX machines than us...
Sega World in central London had one years ago, it was the only time I ever saw AX
There's five whole sets of machine parts aside from the unlockable ones that no one can get at all now without AR codes, they were only given away as promos on special cards when AX first came out.
You could also get some of them from competitions as well, seemingly only in Japan as far as I know.
It's a shame, some of them look pretty cool and from what I remember of the datamined stats the gold parts are pretty good in use.
Everyone cheated these parts in and they are very good too especially that wienerpit which looks like a capsule
Black Bull MTS and Snaking would be super prevalent for sure. Imagine the chaos like 25 people zigzagging everywhere and a MTS attempts sliding through them all and probably does a good job if he incorporates spin attacks.
Sadly I've never encountered an AX machine in the wild. Though I've seen at least 10 different Rush 2049 cabinets.
Found an AX machine in Ikebukuro while I was in Japan last
seems someone's been keeping track, but there's frickall in NA.
>have to drive to fricking DETROIT to get to the closest one
Here's the locations that are confirmed.

Holy frick there's one like 20 minutes from me BRB.
All 500 F-Zero fans in 2023 teamed up and put this together.
There are NONE in Georgia. That is where I found the one in 2008. I swore it looked like a blue falcon too but I may have misremembered that.
>I swore it looked like a blue falcon too but I may have misremembered that.
Must've been the Deluxe one on the right.
I thought that left one was some shit one autistic guy made?
Nah, it's an official product
https://segaretro.org/Cycraft
Looks like they made an Initial D game for it too.
Yeah it did look like that. The seat would move around and it'd really make you feel like falcon or goroh or whoever.
The one on the right filtered me so hard when I enabled the movement.
Lads, it really was just down the street from my house.
I'm so fricking jealous of you
Player 2 was either off or broken.
It's the simple version without any moving parts other than the steering wheel.
It was pretty dirty and didn't look very well maintained but player 1 still functioned just fine and there were no soda stains.
Actually took quarters, none of that card bullshit. Only 25 cents per play and someone had left 3 credits in it.
I need to bring my memory card next time so I can get those sweet AX parts.
>he's not good enough to get the AX parts otherwise
Anon...
I thought there were ones you could only get from the machine? If not then I do have everything.
that's a mistake that's been circulated a lot over the years. There's three part types, differentiated by default paint color in the shop-
>Green parts are available by default or by playing Grand Prix on various difficulties
>Red parts (or pink) are AX parts, available from the arcade or competing GX story mode chapters on Hard (one pink set comes from Expert class GP cups IIRC)
>Gold parts are more than AX exclusive, they were only available with special pilot cards at certain promo events and contests and can't be acquired normally otherwise even if you have a physical AX machine, so the only way to get them now is save editing/Action Replay codes
>he actually went out and found it
Holy shit.
Does it work? Or kids already broke something? I tried it twice like 14 years ago, the model with the moving blue falcon, it was amazing but I moved before I could play more
Frick you
that's so fricking cool dude
It plays Captain Falcon's theme at the victory ceremony and instead of a Gamecube logo being projected it says Triforce.
Whoa, a proper podium with winning animations? That feels very CTRish, cool. I never knew AX had that, I don't think those animations are used anywhere in GX, are they?
That plays after any GP in GX.
I don't remember that at all, only the three car lineup and then the interview with Mr. Zero.
Holy shit nice. Glad I made this thread just for that.
And to think I was just about to close the thread and take a nap. But Captain Falcon summoned me to show my moves.
>only one on this part of the fricking continent and is on the country that everyone and their mother are trying to escape
i wasn't expecting anything and yet south america manages to dissapoint me again
It has to be held by someone with connections.
Someone should make a mahjong minigame against these three
You mean Sega right?
Why don't Nintendo get sega to make more Nintendo games?
Sega can't even make their own games.

>Nintendo absolutely need to turn some sort of profit for it to feel worth it
Sad! In the meantime, post jams:
What the hell is he even saying?
All I can clearly hear is Dr. Claw saying energy.
Actually, thanks to looking up this video, I found someone that posted all the individual samples

Got sick of F-Zero fans.
Well this further illustrates that GX's composer was a fan of trance.
Based on another video, it's Soulsgays. Zullie apparently used the song for an Ivory King segment, so now most comments are talking about how they found the video through that.
Makes me wonder if comments on Michael Jackson's music are disabled because of Sonic gays.
>Vincent de Moor - Topic
Any of these auto-generated music channels with Topic in the name have comments disabled by default.
Thank you. I've heard "The Fly" sample in tons of songs and I've always wondered were it from.
YouTube automatically turns off comments for videos generated with music groups/writers. It’s because they are put in the YouTube Music search list and those don’t have comments.
Outer Space and Cosmo Termial are my favorite tracks.
it's amazing that the tracks for this game really captures the essence of arcades back in those times as well as being massive adrenaline rushes - the AX cabinet between all the neon lights with the music thundering out the speakers...so good.
Have to drop in Fire Field as well:
I found a Cruisin' Blast cabinet recently and it delivered that feeling.
Took me hours to beat it on hard. Then when I beat it, I beat very hard in the next few tries, I felt pretty great after that. F-Zero GX is the greatest game of all time btw
The main reason we don't see a new F-Zero is because the obvious direction to take the games is in online multiplayer and file sharing custom tracks.
Nintendo can't hook up two computers to save their lives so the undertaking is just far too big for them.
Ask yourself- can you honestly see a game like F-Zero as a multiplayer game most players will enjoy?
Think of all the tech people use in time runs. It's pure skill against skill. Items like Mario Kart go against the spirit of the game- the whole thing is high risk, high reward, managing your health with your boosts.
Any time I played multiplayer with friends (who admittedly don't play F-Zero), it was just constant lapping each other. F-Zero is a single player game at its core.
>most players will enjoy?
No and i dont give a frick because ill be running them the frick off the track.
I think if you just took any of the existing F-Zero games and made them multiplayer then it wouldn't be very fun for most players getting matched up with techgods and meta warriors.
But a new game could last a while before devolving into tech-meta hell. More so if they just added speedcaps for casual modes to prevent vets from just completely obliterating newer players. Ideally a separate mode for uncapped speeds, for those vets to really flex on each other.
I think it could work, but once again it'd require a really good system to not just be a frontrun simulator that most players would get frustrated by, or offer a multitude of modes in order to keep all kinds of players entertained. Mario Kart Wii's Wimmfi online introduces time trial battles, where you actively compete against other ghosts in real time who are also playing for the best time. Not everyone as a TT brain and much of the appeal of F-Zero is in its ludicrous amount of players, so I think a robust ranking system would help. Maybe the return of Death Race as well, one of the few things i'd give X over GX (Along with the X Cup, the 64DD additions, and the art and music direction is up to taste, I like both).
Either way, I do agree that while the potential is there I certainly do not believe Nintendo could pull that off. I'm not even sure other companies could pull it off in current year, quite frankly. 30 racers with the NEED for them to be rendered accurately since unlike in, say, Mario Kart, collisions and bumpage in F-Zero is a huge part of the game, when most gamers are still running wifi, i'm not so sure it's even possible, although I'm no specialist of netcodes and shit.
the percentage of people who would be able to make it through any of the more advanced maps would probably be in the teens. You'd have to radically redesign the game, (or leave it as the git gud simulator) for it to work online with modern sensibilities
>be in the teens
Even lower.
The amount of players who could handle anything above ruby or sapphire on normal would probably be less than 3%.
>F-Zero is a single player game at its core.
This is a good point I hadn't really considered. My multiplayer experience was always similar, even with GX's recovery upon crash feature. If they went the online route I would expect the incentive would be to gather "credits" moreso than getting 1st. After all you can win GP without getting 1st each time. Credits could be spent on whatever skinner box nintendo comes up with of course.
Could be like MGSV where the credits you get from online races are used to unlock cosmetics and custom parts exclusive to the online shop.
For sure. Even in GX they made you grind for tickets which took a long ass time if you do it legit
>be scrub
>start f-zero NX race
>3 - 2 - 1 GO!
>get fricking obliterated by the two gays at my sides.
I wish i could play that.
This is where Blizzard are actually right in that you think you want it, but you don't. Racing games simply aren't fun. When you're stuck behind someone there's no real way of overtaking them. Rubberbanding is literally the only option, but you can't make players rubberband. MK solved this problem with items, but the frick can F-Zero do?
>When you're stuck behind someone there's no real way of overtaking them.
Yes there is, it's called playing better.
you cant sell F-Zero on the same console that has MK toddlers like this moron
i wish there was more arcade racers that take actual skill instead of being a MK shovelware clone n99999
Is there really /all/ that much broken tech in F-Zero, as long as you enforce maxspeed settings?
Maybe nerf some of the side attack shit and make MT an actual mechanic that's communicated to the player, and it probably wouldn't be too insane. If you can do shift boosts to 3000km/h consistently then you deserve to lap the field, 99.9% of players are more likely to kill themselves with them.
And balance the machines of course, or else every race will be just Fat Shark thirty times.
they could do a 3D version of F-Zero Climax (sequel) and that could work very well on multiplayer. Just get infinite lifes, die, and then wait to come back.
IN THIS WORLD YOU'VE GOT TO GET GAMES
YOU'VE GOT TO SELL UNITS TO KEEP YOUR IP ALIVE
CAAAAPTAIN FALCON WILL ALWAYS UNDERSELL
SENDING THE GAMERS TO MARIO INSTEAD
WHEN MYOPIC PLAYERS THREATEN YOUR GAME
FALCON WILL BE MORE KNOWN FOR HIS FALCON PUNCH
The evil forces will never get their hands on this belt.
I'LL KEEP WINNING
>Turns out the belts were just the devs fricking around
To be honest. Where could Falcon go from there? He beat GOD in a race.
best line in the game
Falcon's cutscene model looks like he's got a chub.
Anon Captain Falcon has a massive dong. He is soft as can be right there.
I didn't say full on diamonds. Just a little chubsy wubsy from winning the race.
Didn't he completely unmask in the anime? And one of X's endings which is not canon somehow?
Yes, he was the bartender in one of the earlier episodes and his helmet flew off during the FALCOHN PAAAAAANCH finale
I really like how on low difficulties, GPs give you a designated rival, and the higher you go in difficulty the more "natural" the results become. Adding the realism really makes winning a Master feel that much more rewarding.
Isn't it just the person with the most points, not counting you?
I mean that on Easy, all the other racers get around the same relative placement each race. For example, in one cup Black Shadow could be your designated rival, in which case he will usually place the highest among all CPUs. On Master the results are more varied and this doesn't happen.
I think Master just cranks up every AI on track to the maximum, which means they are usually as competitive as possible with their vehicles. So on Masters Ruby Cup, you'd probably have one hell of a time catching up to Don Genie, while in latter, more twisty cups, he'd be falling through the field on the more technical tracks.
They don't have the same level of aggression on higher difficulties. Villains and black characters are still the most aggressive.
X is better
Frick Nintendo, they didn't even bring Climax, they are buttholes, at least there is a pretty good fan translation, but it sucks that in the west we never had the opportunity to create tracks.
I tried to revisit GBA F-Zero games and they're pretty fun, my only issue with them is the turning. I don't like having to mash triggers to take tighter drifts which feels absolutely mandatory to take certain turns well.
you need to mash A instead of the triggers, I wasn't expecing to like MV but it was good, not good as GP Legend and Climax, but I think that all GBA F-Zero games deserve a good playtime.
The Switch couldn't handle a port because of the lack of analog triggers.
... you didn't need analog triggers to play this game at all. Accelerate with A button, boost with B, shoulder buttons to side-dash, Z for spin, if I remember correctly.
GX made great use of the Gamecube's analogue triggers.
GX was really great to play with Analog triggers, and the face buttons were very comfortably placed for the game. I tried playing it with a different controller on Dolphin, and it felt much more of a chore to play compared to a GameCube controller.
The trick is to just change the controls. Swap brake and boost so- using PS controls as reference- accelerate is on X and side swipe is on circle like normal, but then put booster on square and air brake on the out of the way triangle because you don't need it.
There is a lot of precision involved with the air brakes and requires analog.
>... you didn't need analog triggers to play this game at all.
I'll be honest man there's nothing wrong with being incorrect once in a while but did you HAVE to include the passive aggressive ellipses? That choice pushed your post fully into obnoxious terriroty
>Anime studio makes magical girl show
>Show is cursed and creates natural disasters when they play the episode where the protag dies
>Later on they make the F-Zero Anime

Fricking Minky Momo killed F-Zero
For me, is Mr. EAD
>jolly buff fat guy is actually an android
>modeled after Mario, even liked italian food
>references Paper Mario 64's Peach cake baking moment
>the android face reveal in FZX
>he is created by Nintendo EAD in the future
>essentially being a sentient Nintendo system that entered a space race fo AI research
man F-Zero characters and world building is so cool, is ashame that most people think is all about anti-gravity super DUPER fwast racing when theres more to F-Zero than that, it had is own charm and tone like no other, thats like only replicated in Redline and Space Dandy in anime
Quite disturbing that he's the F-Zero universe's Mario.
>James McCloud is a reference to Fox's dad
>Octoman actually shows up in Starfox Command
>even prominent enough to capture Slippy not just a cameo
>Fox's dead father either somehow a human counterpart with the same name or that human is being a dick and is impersonating a dead hero
Fox was despondent. But Falco had an idea that would change everything.
I think Star Fox even referred to it as F-MAX, which was F-ZERO's predecessor.
The same series The Skull completely dominated before dying and being resurrected centuries later to vroom some more in F-ZERO.
I wish I still had the fanfic I wrote for a school project about when the Skull was alive in F-Max.
>an ancient legend that died long ago to be awakened isn't even evil
>he just reawakened because he loves racing so much
>he absorbs the soul of his fans that love to see him race and they are unbothered
The Skull's backstory is peak camp kino
James in F-Zero is James from Starfox. He got issekai'd and became human when he went through the space whale warp dimension.
>Octoman is just a guy in an octopus suit playing as an alien in kayfabe in F-Zero
>when he goes to the starfox dimension he turns into an actually alien
this is now my headcanon
Wasn't Octoman from a planet of alien conquerors, or is that an anime thing? I remember there was a whole episode where he had to beg everyone to play along in putting on a show for his relatives or they'd take over his "invasion" and kill everyone for real
>F-ZERO fakes broadcasts to Octoman's planet so that they don't threaten to disrupt the series again
Kayfabe is strong in the F-ZERO universe.
Nah, it was more lighthearted. In the anime his planet was pretty poor and he sent most of his earnings from working for Black Shadow home, with everyone thinking he was a hero winning races instead of a jobber goon.
In the episode where his people show up he actually manages to get first place for once thanks to literally everyone else getting caught in a pileup.
It's a good episode.
Man I completely misremembered that one, maybe I confused it with another show
Posted this in /vr/ but may as well ask here
Do machines have "qualities" or values that aren't expressed in-game? By that I mean it tells you ships' weight, grip, boost and body, but they way people talk about ship handling makes it sound like things are even more variable than these listed aspects
Yes, just try two characters with the same stats, they'll probably play completely differently.
I think this guide has more indepth details, no idea how accurate it is though.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/gamecube/560617-f-zero-gx/faqs/55671
I don't really know how boost is calculated but it's completely fricked and inaccurate.
I don't remember if it's exactly that but I think weight is more notable than just a number, it matters for speed retention. Heavier vehicles lose speed more slowly than lighter ones.
Heavy vehicles have insane top speeds or something like that. The strongest customs are just like a box with a space shuttle booster taped to it.
Boost duration is one important thing. For example, while machines like the Silver Rat and Wild Goose have A and B rank boosts respectively, in actuality they're the worst boosters in the game due to how weak and short the boosts are.
Meanwhile the Fat Shark's "B" rank boost is the best booster in the game, even among things like custom machines.
Boost can be also pretty variable, for example, I don't feel like Astro Robin's boost is actually D-rank, it feels more like a C-rank boost to me.
the listed stats mean basically nothing
Pico having ABC stats is such bullshit
In my experience weight matters much more than any of the ABC specs listen on the machines.
If Bio Rex's behavior in the bar scene is anything to go by then there was some serious drunk driving going on in the casino race.
dinosaurs sober up quick
I'd like banter from pilots during races. That would be cool.
Only if I can turn it off because that sound annoying as frick.
I finally got my F-Zero GX disc to work. Now I'm off to beating every cup on master.
!MANDATORY VIEWING!
!MANDATORY VIEWING!
These cutscenes served absolutely no purpose. Did devs do things just for fun back then?
Disturbing isn't it? Thank goodness it doesn't happen anymore
its like when pixar and camelot included bloopers for fun
It's so good seeing these 3D models doing manga style slapstick.
Charm oversoul
Poor Octoman. I'm sure someone out there is into that.
Some of their faces still look really good.
>Unlock Lily
>cute girl
>watch character end cutscene
>vomits
What the frick did they do to her?
I do not like that the Sega-created characters did not pay respect to the lore about the racers all having to be fit and Dr. Clash only being an exception because of his machinery. F-Zero girls should be musclegirls only.
That doesn't look fit to you? Begone musclegay.
Even the regular circuit models in X were in better shape than her, and those have no ass.
>I do not like that the Sega-created characters did not pay respect to the lore about the racers all having to be fit and Dr. Clash only being an exception because of his machinery.
???
That's just his genetics.
he's just Coop from megas XLR
>solves the combination lock on his stomach
>combination lock
it's a speedometer, silly
To be fair even her in-game pilot model is kind of off looking. The stationary render is just a good angle (and isn't tiny and mis proportioned like her model).
Never noticed she has cat eyes.
ih shit, so she does
weird
They made master mode and very hard so difficult because it unlocks F-Zero AX, which is an entire extra game's content that was still in the arcades at the time.
So to earn the right to play F-Zero AX at home you have to spend like 70+ hours playing F-zero GX.
Shit, I thought that was my own screenshot at first. Well done, anon.
Reminder that F-Zero died thanks to MK8.
Even MK died thanks to MK8 lol
is a bit too easy to blame MK8 see for
oddly racing games in general went away despite the juggernaut that MK8 still is, likewise with 3D Mario practically being the only 3D platfomer that exist for a while
Turns out that focusing on fun is how you sell a game. Weird.
Fzero is funererer though
moronic post
because like most things in pursuit of profit, they consolidated on the ones that made the most money and slowly dropped everything else. Niches and small communities are largely dying out besides indies, which are super hit or miss
yeah is a general gaming thing like how middle class devs went out and all we have is indies and AAAs
>the creators were a 4th wall break referring to the actual developers since the race is a staff ghost
>their colors represent bronze, silver and gold trophies
Mind blown.
That goofy Pink Floyd knockoff song actually makes reference to the falcon punch.
huh
I honestly don't get why they just haven't ported GX and put online on it, the game still looks great so they wouldn't really need to bother remastering the graphics.
In all likelihood, they might not have the source code. Sega lost Monkey Ball's source code and had to remake the engine in later ports.
why fans can RE source code from games and Nintendo/SEGA can't do it?
I mean, can't they pay someone to RE the game and rerelease it?
Nintendo is very, VERY good about keeping the source code for all of their games, even ones made by third-party devs. They had the fricking source code for Trails of Mana, which Square had to ask them for since they didn't store it.
Is emulation without the GC controller feasible? Mine aren't available to me at the moment. From memory, I feel like it'd be literally impossible to clear everything in the game without the appropriate shoulder triggers.
Get an xbone controller, it's nothing but an upgrade for f-zero gx.
Are there any modern controllers that have analog triggers as long as the Xbone's? I know nothing comes close to the Gamecube's full inch of travel.
GC triggers weren't that long but the springs it had gave it a more satisfying resistance also that click at full press is so cash
Huh, I remember them being longer, I guess. Maybe it's because they pull straight down instead of angled like every trigger now.
Eh, I meant more actual throw length, not trigger vibration or scaling pressure to depress and so on.
is certainly longer than PS3/4, probably as long as 360,
PS5 has analog triggers that can do some wacky shit.
No controller other than the GCN has analog and clicks at the end of it. Another game that doesn't emulate well because of that is Metroid Prime. You can't switch targets by just clicking the trigger but keeping the analog depressed.
>No controller other than the GCN has analog and clicks at the end of it.
The steam controller does, not that I'd recommend it for f zero.
Seconding this. I want to try to unlock everything. I came so close as a kid, but my brother deleted my save because he's a c**t. I was seriously like two missions on very hard away from clearing it all. I don't have my GameCube stuff anymore and I don't want to try to take the time to put my balls through that grinder again if it's ultimately hopeless without the right triggers.
Xbox controller works fine. If you're emulating you can even use save states to cheese the game. they don't help much, retrying over and over from the same point instead of having to redo the prior laps won't save you if you can't actually do the mechanical execution part anyway
Doesn't that have analog triggers though? Honestly, the game is so good that I'll probably just try it anyway, but it would really suck to be walled off from finally completing the game because of controller issues.
>Doesn't that have analog triggers though?
Yes? Every modern controller other than Nintendo has analog triggers. They never brought them back after the Gamecube while everyone else has used them ever since, so ironically anything other than an actual Switch controller is good for emulating Gamecube games.
Why are we having so many good F-Zero GX threads lately? Are a lot of people playing it for the first time?
No idea and this is the first I come across, although i'm not on Ganker's catalog all that often, but i'm throughly enjoying it. These kind of threads remind me why amidst all the shit, the time Anons sit down and talk about a game they like genuinely, it's as good and comfy as it gets on current year Internet.
Discussion is civil because the fanbase is small.
Jesus christ shut the frick up, you are almost as bad as the soijack nignogs
The only few threads that fit really well in Ganker. If the F-Zero community was huge then this thread would've been gone to shit by morons in an instant.
A couple of them were from me because I picked it up and am really enjoying it. Amusement Vision is so good.
Kino shot.
Not reading AI slop

>Clash's backpack isn't also pointing finger guns
Racing games suck on the Switch because of the lack of analog triggers.
yeah, even Mario Kart would benefit from it with 200cc and possibly up
for me, it's the HARD BANGER
do custom machines all have the same basic 'neutral' handling that's then affected by grip and body, or do some bodies handle weird to start with akin to some of the standard pilot machines?
SEXOOOOOOOO
There just simply isn't enough rule34 of the f-zero girls out there.
I hear that. Every classic comic-women trope covered, really- except my favorite, the scantily clad Heavy Metal amazon, but I'm sure they would have added one in another game or two.
took me so long to realise that Kate Allen wasn't wearing a body suit like the girl racers.
instead she Where's a racing bikini.
that day she became one of my mains.
I really want to play this now but I don't want to bother emulating. Might be time to dig out the t.v. and Gamecube.
Playing this on Dolphin in high res with an actual GC controller is pretty cool

post favorite theme and get a (you)
It's so fricking pure. No musically implying a sad story, just 100% awesome superhero energy.
Phoenix's is so damn good.
I'm not sure, actually. It's cool he's a cyborg and all, but that's not really special in F-Zero. He's super popular both among fans and even the devs apparently.
why is he so cool bros

John Tanaka does nothing for me and nor does his machine, but that theme, goddamn. That C64 style warbling arpeggio makes me HARD.
Dude is a literal cuck and throws a tantrum when Jody rejects him like a typical "nice guy". He also has to beg Falcon to go save her like a little b***h.
I love trance so much it's unreal.
Why didn't any of the theme music ever get re-used in Smash. Are there any legal/licensing issues with them.
Some of them are so good.
Is there some jiggle in Kate Allen's ending?

You now remember that "Leaked" twitter account about a new F-Zero game. You now remember that a guy did it to troll the F-Zero fanbase and flooded the account with gay porn.
I don't remember that at all but I do remember a rich nintendo fan buying a frick ton of Nintendo stock so he can demand a new F-Zero, what a trooper
Bro, there were threads all about it for like a week. It gave so many anons hope, but then...
I do remember now
Qrd?
From what I can see there's no porn or other things that deny the possibility to get something about F-Zero:
https://twitter.com/Syluxhunter/status/1613194794238414848
Let's hope that it's true and we get something, I want at least that GX port so we can make F-Zero sell and Nintendo try to do another one.
What if...
Captain Falcon is one of the last characters from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?
>f-f-falcon
I remember thinking this was the most impressive animated hair I've every seen
If I squeeze it I bet there's enough oil to fry an entire platter worth of french fries
Why is she blond?
They did mess around with her hair color in the FMVs.
It's the lighting. Her hair looks relatively normal in her video
but she looks sweaty and disgusting in the story cutscene.
Looks about the same as hair in Street Fighter 6.
For me, it's funny magic man and his incredibly cool but shitty machine.

Why yes, I did play Jester exclusively in Gauntlet.
Magic Seagull has to be one of the most soulful shitboxes in the game. One of the best looking AX vehicles after the Rainbow Phoenix.
>no new f-zero with the return of custom machines but way more in-depth than just selecting three parts
>individually shape the body and aerodynamics like a cut-back version of x-plane or use premades if you're lazy
>people who aren't great racers can still have fun fine-tuning their perfect machine, or even make a name figuring out custom machines for other people that fit their preferred play styles
Anon, we all know that it will just turn into a samey minmaxed abomination.
That isn't much different from GX, then, but at least I could make the fancy delta wing machine I want.
>PJ's theme isn't just Offspring with the numbers filed off
Missed opportunity, Sega.
please be good please be good
Gameplay looks solid but they artstyle is something I cant get behind. Part of F-Zeros charm is its aesthetic.
Wasn't there another F-Zeo clone being developed right now?
The Spark guy is also making an F-Zero clone.
Looks fantastic, but the track looks awfully narrow. Hope the final release won't ask for absolutely precision when racing.
>Hope the final release won't ask for absolutely precision when racing.
t will, all these fan games always do because they assume you're a top 1% autist who's played the old games for 3000 hours like they have

I am also just being made aware of what he looked like before
>Dr. Stewart literally saved his life

based
If they have the technology to become immortal cyborgs then why doesn't everyone just do that?
One has to wonder just how bad the famous big accident was that people consider it a literal miracle no one died. Probably akin to the famous Le Mans accident with the Mercedes that wiped out a whole grandstand and killed almost a hundred people, except no spectators were hurt since no one's right next to the majority of an F-Zero track and whoever wrecked first pinballed around and wiped out the rest of the racers like you see actually happen in GX when you sideswipe someone and their wreck bounces right back into you.
Anyone played this in VR? Would be awesome if there were wienerpit mods so you could actually sit in the vehicle but I also have no idea if that's possible.
>Cylinder Knot in wienerpit view in VR
Oh it's just as vomit-inducing as you think it would be, but it's also a really fun map, so you fight through the pain.

>game has unique CGI shorts and music for all 30+ racists, as well as interactive interviews with VA work
All things considered, the production values were quite up there with GX.
Of that odd era of Nintendo, game features being arbitrary locked behind different hardware interactions like the e-Reader is shit that I don't certainly miss. Even if shit still technically exists with Amiibos, it felt way worse.
Yeah, e-reader was gay. Don't miss it.
GX is such a game of its time for it. With how little of a purpose these 40 songs & CGI movies serve in the grand scheme of things, there's no way a game these days would bother, but GX does. Its the difference between good & great.
>those blurbs and all the movies and you get to hear their theme song while you read their shit and gawk at their machine
I loved that shit, felt like its own reward when you unlock an AX racer
>all 30+ racists
It was a different time. No wonder Nintendo's not bringing them back.
I hope you're not implying that Dr. Stewart's animation is anything short of perfection.
>The Triforce (トライフォース) is an arcade board developed in a joint venture between Sega, Nintendo, and Namco. It is based upon the Nintendo GameCube video game console to reduce development costs, and allowed for arcade ports of home console games, and vice versa. It is named after the magical, often sought-after object in Nintendo's popular The Legend of Zelda series.
>Sega, aside from being the main GX dev, got a direct reference to Crazy Taxi
>Namco didn't get one
As a Ridge Racer fanboy it still makes me a little sad.
You can always make pac man and ghosts decals.
Another with jiggle effects.
Princia was one of my favourite characters too.
shame all the CG models are so weird
Princia reminds me of the smell of mango hand lotion.
Last time I tried playing GX on Dolphin, it ran shockingly bad compared to other games. Has this changed recently? Playing it on my Steam Deck sounds super comfy.
Get a Wii with Nintendont and boot it up on there, it will be silky smooth 60 fps. Also use component cables instead of composite.
does nintendont have the 480p bug fix?
Yes, assuming you're not on a potato. Apparently some of the more recent versions have microstuttering but it's only when loading a race and depends on your system and shader settings- stuff like the framerate-slaughtering Sand Ocean heat effect has long been fixed.
YOU CAN USE A MACHINE FROM MEMORY DATA

YOU'VE GOT TO FIGHT TO KEEP YOUR SPIRIT ALIVE
the f-zero homosexuals don't even want f-zero back. They want en epic meme compilation of captain failcon jumping out of his vehicle falcon punching the bad guy. They want epic platinum games QTEs where you have an f-zero game where you don't race. Because they are meme driven frickwits. That's the f-zero they know, c. falcon yelling "farukon ponch!!!" with anime wooshes.

Some say he once beat Chapter 7 Very Hard with no kills... and that his left pinkie always points towards the nearest AX cabinet. All we know is, he's not called the Stig, he's the Stig's zero-G cousin!
Yeah I laughed once I found that out. He's only maginally better+worse than Blue Falcon though
Not only that you need the japanese parts from putting your GC card into a real AX cabinet of which maybe 5 exist in the entire world anymore.
So not even a real AX cabinet gets you those parts now. Fan-wienering-fastic.
A real AX cabinet never got you those parts in the first place unless you were one of the 100 people or whatever who got one of those cards. Yes, there's fifteen fricking parts in the game that 99.999...% of players will NEVER see without cheats.

what a fricking joke
glad I put in the AR codes after getting Master on every Cup
I wish there was one that just puts them in the shop instead of right in your garage but eh. I had to unlock and buy every other part first to sate my autism so now I can use the code for the golds.
It's not like you can't just run AX Master a couple more times anyway and pretend you bought 'em, since we're already pretending we got the real cards
>there's a Gecko code listed as 'all parts available to buy in shop'
>it does include the gold parts, but
>it actually makes half of them already bought, half of them you have to re-buy, fills the Items page with a bunch of staff ghosts and re-locks story chapters, and gives you 99999 credits
i do not want this
I FOUND ONE
It's a different code from the one on the CGN site, but still an Action Replay code (NOT Gecko) and all it does is exactly what it says- makes all custom parts -available-, not automatically owned, so they show up in the shop and you can still buy them for 15 creds a piece to keep track/please your autism. Nothing extra in Machines or Items, nothing auto-unlocked, no 99999 credits or reset timers or anything. I'm pasting this shit here because it took me a while to find online, we're on the topic of it and I know the Google spiders collect from Ganker now.

It'll look different if you edit the code afterwards because Dolphin does something funky and turns AR codes into 16 digit hex strings, but it works.
Based anon. I've already unlocked everything in my save file but I'll use this to get the exclusive contest parts. Thanks
No prob, buddy. Hope you make some cool machines with them.
Outside of Falcon, Beastman is my favorite racer. Hyper Speeder is also the machine that helped me actually learn how to pilot F-Zero machines before I switched to Fat Shark like anyone with a brain
Beastman grew on me quick, I thought it would be a case of 'great machine, whatever driver' but nah, dude's great. I like how his whole powerhouse motif is just covering up for actually being a quiet shy dude when he isn't animal-hunting.
>Hyper Speeder is also the machine that helped me actually learn how to pilot F-Zero machines
Did it? It feels like the Speeder's handling doesn't transfer very well to other machines specifically because it grips so tightly and plays more like a typical racing game where you're hitting a racing line and holding like glue instead of all the side-boosting and drifting most machines are capable of.
>before I switched to Fat Shark like anyone with a brain
HYPER SPEEDER NUMBER ONE
I AM BEAST MAN
728,105,381,967 DEAD LIZARDS
True, or other fitting decals. Still, I think it would've been neat to have a bona fide RR representative, especially since anti-grav tech already existed in the Ridge Racer universe. And race queen Reiko would probably look damn cute in GX's style.
Hyper Speeder is a fast machine with great boost (not nearly on par with Twin/Gazelle but still) that stays on the track, quick turning with high grip is both better and worse than low grip machines. It helped me learn a lot about how to feather the stick when playing this game, because you can make more control mistakes with Hyper Speeder than with Death Anchor or Sonic Phantom. He can't MTS worth a damn but you already have Fat Shark/Great Star/Black Bull for that
>HYPER SPEEDER NUMBER ONE
>I AM BEAST MAN
>728,105,381,967 DEAD LIZARDS
Based racer, based interview answers.
I cannot drive the Death Anchor for shit. I don't know if I just don't have the thumb control for fine feathering anymore or if the game REALLY wants a Gamecube controller or what, but damn. I think my hands are just cursed.
>think i'm hot shit because i'm acing an expert/master race with the hyper speeder
>ignoring that it's so goddamn fast no one can usually catch you anyway, because i am bad at video games and need all the help i can get
>last stretch before the finish line
>twin noritta pokes in out of nowhere, hits a boost pad and flies by at approximately mach three point frick
>SECOND PLACE
i fear no man, but that duo... it scares me
then it's fricking based indeed, good job anon
Thanks anon.
i have card
then you get three parts and there's still 12 you don't get
i have friend with ohter card
>never used a custom machine because you can't unlock master movies with them
>building them for time trials is dumb because there's about three machines worth a shit
Yeah I never gave much of a shit about custom machines. I spent more time making decals to put on the normal ships.
who are they
pretty sure this is a direct reference to another SEGA title
i always thought they were chao but it turns out they aren't chao at all
Player audience self insert.
I don't think the switch will be able to handle 60fps with 30 online racers mode, maybe next gen
I feel like I made him proud today.
oc? based if so
Yeah but I drew it like 8 years ago.
>BLOCKABLE AREA
Good Job.
On very hard my strategy was to destroy the other two's ships. The other racers arent as much of a threat. you can slow down and only speed up for the final lap.
Rubberbanding AI is the worst. It's on the same level as AI reading inputs and instantly reacting.
I know it needs to exist on some level, but it's almost always overdone.
everyone talks about a falcon game but i want a game with a bunch of shorter character-specific stories, kind of like GP Legend had but with less re-used events between racers
the series' cast is so great that the most you can really say about your least favorite characters is that they're boring or just don't interest you and they're varied enough there's a lot you could do
More like dear SEGA cause they made it, homosexual.
>2004-ish
>didn't have a date to school dance
>didn't even bother to go
>stayed home and played F-Zero GX all weekend
>got to school monday
>all the girls were hitting me and calling me an butthole
>apparently I won prince and the girl had to take the picture alone
>apparently she actually liked me
>girls showed me the group photo of all the winners
>she was sitting my herself with makeup running down her face
>no one asks you to the dance
>no one tells you winning prince is even a possibility
>be surprised when you don't show up
I don't get it.
Neither can I. Death Anchor's grip is just *ever so slightly* too shit for me. Sonic Phantom is what I used before discovering Hyper Speeder.
>or if the game REALLY wants a Gamecube controller or what
I used XB1 controller at first, if you set up the triggers properly it's not a huge deal. GC's triggers and control notches are almost mandatory for Melee but in F-Zero I was able to make do
That's why you keep your energy up. Fricking Twin homosexuals have the best boost in the game, even better than Fat Shark.
>if you set up the triggers properly it's not a huge deal.
I'm using an Xbone pad and haven't had any trouble with the triggers, actually, just the stick. Is there something special to set up? I'm using the full sensitivity range with the bottom 5% set to activate the click, which equates out to about 15-20% at the bottom since Xbox triggers don't actually track their full range of motion (one reason I'm looking for a new controller actually since I like racing vidja) and it seems to be working fine, with most errors coming from my own lack of finger control.
I don't think I had to set up the stick in any special way, just set a slight deadzone and make it emulate GC stick so movement isn't 1:1 and properly emulates stick movement
Snaking is gay but I can understand how it'd be even harder on the AX cabinet with its physics. Using the brake to initiate drift sounds cool but hard
That image is exactly how I'd feel about that.
Even more baffling is how the frick did I win when I didn't even show up?
I always suspected her friends on the student council rigged it to help her get close to me. However their trickery didn't penetrate my autism.
I bet she fancied you, had it rigged so you would win and she would win so she could ask you out and make a big deal about how you're 'destined' to be together or some shit. Girls are all over that sort of symbolism. Instead of you know, asking like a normal person.
Good thing I spent the weekend with Captain Falcon instead.
Drifting in the arcade machine is weird. I figured it would be holding both air brakes then releasing one just like how you do it with the triggers but you actually have to tap the brake to initiate the drift. I was able to snake briefly though it's much harder when your foot is involved.
If I remember right AX actually has different physics and snaking is not only harder but doesn't give nearly as much speed boost- it has a different physics quirk similar to X's sliding that you use for big speed gains.
The physics seem the same unless there are some subtle differences I didn't notice and I was able to get a pretty big speed boost from snaking. The only major difference I noticed was that you can't use the air brake to turn even tighter after initiating a drift so drifting tight turns was more like a traditional racing game.
the air brake does something? i don't think i've ever actually pressed b in gx, not once
HOW THE FRICK DO I EXIT A MOMENTUM TURBO SLIDE AND KEEP MY SPEED
It stops you pretty good but it isn't useful in GX especially on low accel machines
also should have posted these if you need a brushup on the actual fundamentals
I loved OG and X but barely had a chance to play GX. I wish I still had a gamecube. Im playing Redout 2 instead
Should I buy an adapter and a GC controller just for this fricking game. Trying to use a WiiU controller and it's goddamned atrocious for this.
I 100% the game with a DS4 on emulator last year, you can't roll thumb and reach all the face buttons like you can on a gamecube controller but it's still perfectly playable, you just need to get used to it.
How do I properly use this guy i just did sapphire expert with him and it was hell but he i did some momentum slides with him and it was neat. still only came first on one track
Honestly I don't know. I just sort of winged it and won a GP like that too.
Also imagine being Black Shadow. And losing to a Cab driver.
Black shadow literally slowed down at the start of the mute city track just to spin attack me and we fought. That track is insane it's really fun but prob the hardest to not fall off of but I like it.
i fricking love that the groovy taxi even has an actual license plate
Groovy Taxi is just mid in general. I don't remember
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m2sCmuiBmXUHwLV3ZUupeKVGXm0wGhOdEkPX6YaSuHM
>All Rounder
So it's just Blue Falcon but shittier
It's pretty slow when you're not boosting.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_Anslffz9azuw0Fa3LqbnrfR1IlhBn0gtlzNLKyR-Wg
Checking this because I don't feel like going on Sonic Oval with every machine right now. It's only marginally slower than Blue Falcon's top speed but the only vehicle slower than BF (no boosting) with any decent benefits in this list is Twin Noritta
it's funny seeing these links when i've had them (and the custom parts comparison ones) open in my browser for the past week in my autistic f-zero research
get out of my head
>Hyper Speeder listed as Lap 1 Top Speeder as a main archetype
>when it has absolute molasses acceleration, can't use energy boosts on the first lap, and can't gain speed through MTSing
eh?
It has a long as frick boost so when you hit dash plates (which always do half your vehicles boost) you go really fast.
by "half your boost" i mean timewise. iirc the panels themselves are all around C grade boosts but that might just be in F-Zero X
in GX boost pads give you half your machine's normal boost, so Fat Shark and Twin Noritta get a full second of boost
Green Panther's is long as frick too. There was a channel I watched a while back called custom-r and they had some pretty good vehicle overviews in around 6 minutes for both signature and custom machines. This one was cool I use it with Pico all the time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_QxkkD2kLY
This guy's cool I watch his stuff regularly since I like both F-Zero and Sonic Riders
I admire his through autism.
>secondhand brand Wild Goose
holy frick that's great, i've gotta really experiment with custom machines now. shame there's only four decal slots and you can't scale them up to cover the whole machine at once
I remember sort of being able to if you paste it at the right angle but I don't recall.
Nice, cool machine.
>over 200 videos just on custom machines
Holy shit.
131 on specialties https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkFLCfIbYTc&list=PLMxagqffBHxDeRIoH7IgpR-w6sNLgqfOl
that's more than the total machines in all the mainline games combined wtf
It's one of the few 1100 top speed machines and its boost even on boost pads is good, so being a top speeder is accurate
I had them ages ago and had to look them up again just so I could get a quick reference for this thread. Literally had to search for the archetypes one
>tfw anti-grav racing is dead
i can't go back to machines that are slower than the speeder, and the game has been ruined for me
Unless you're using a truly garbage machine like Piranha, Silver Rat or Cosmic Dolphin there's usually something machine does decently to fairly well that makes up for low regular top speed. Try Red Gazelle, King/Queen Meteor or Blue Falcon
where's the anisotropic filtering, homosexual
doesn't werk since gx has weird mipmaps
>you lived to see an F-Zero thread reach 500 posts and over a hundred IPs in 2023
I kind of love you guys.
I'm really glad this game is having a little bit of a resurgence on Ganker with these threads, honestly deserves it for how in depth it is.
>thread is dying
This sucks. Great thread though, thanks Ganker you guys pull through once in a great while
An actual Ganker thread where anons have fun and talk about video games, what a rare sight to behold.
Just talk about a vidya that's not on current news, and you'll probably get a good thread, though there's no guarantee the thread will hit even halfway to bump limit.
