Is this even going to be any different than the versions already on steam? The first Battlefront even got an update a few years ago that included the new map already so i don't really see the point in a whole new release on pc. If it's just going to improve the online it should just be a patch.
>not the caned due to Disney buy out Battlefront 4 with dark side Obi Wan, organic Grevious, witch doctor Windu, sith slave bikini Leia and other nonsens
>it had loading screens when you go into and out of space
That was somewhat part of the original intent for BF1. Devs always wanted land to space combat but never really figured out smooth transitions for it to work as they were also pressured into meeting tight deadlines. That's why both BF1 and BF2 has a mixed bag of unfinished or missing assets that modders were able to find later on. BF3 as it was ended up being complete enough for BF1/2's standards, but got shitcanned because they missed several deadlines at that point.
While it did have loading screens, it was still the same fight. Iirc, you could shoot an Ion canon from the ground at the capital ships above to destroy their shields. Then you could hop in an escape pod in a capital ship and land on the ground battle. It was pretty fricking cool.
The main thing I remember about Renegade Squadron was how prevalent hackers were.
Like there'd be a guy flying around at 10000 miles an hour insta-killing everyone with rockets at spawn, in 90% of matches.
Will this just come as an update to the existing PC versions or what? The Steam page is a new entry https://store.steampowered.com/app/2446550/STAR_WARS_Battlefront_Classic_Collection/
Oh yeah that was the free radical one. I listened to a podcast with one of the lead devs where he talked about it, apparently the publishers kept expanding the scope beyond what the devs were capable of delivering so the whole thing fell through.
I'm zoomer, for me almost anything that's 16bit when it comes to 2d and atlesst 6th gen when it comes to 3d is visually good
in fact 6th gen games is what I play the most for years now
the maps are nowhere near big enough for that.
although space battles would be hilarious. you'd have 100 players per team just waiting in the hangar for ships to spawn
I only ever stuck with Hoth and a few maps with the CIS. I'm more interested in seeing how many blaster volleys it would take to burn a hole through an AT-AT.
lootboxes
skills/stat boosts tied to equippable cards instead of just balancing classes based on the class choice itself
vehicles dont spawn in the world but just materialize
>Push last objective with your clone buddies >Scrom lumbago, the hip character that appeared for five minutes in the movies, drops 30 gas landmines that completely stonewall your entire teams progress >lose the ship assault and go back to stalemating on the battlefield
I played it for like 40 minutes. For some reason each side only has like 5 players on a map. The point of battlefront was being a small part of a big army. Also the gameplay seemed too complicated, I just wanna grab a gun and shoot stuff.
BF1: No single player, limited to jsut a few OT callbacks, with a lot missing compared to old BFs
BF2: Singleplayer was mid at best, lootboxes made multiplayer absurdly pay to win and blocked non-paypigs from using cool characters like Vader
Besides the microtransactions, wasn't there a rumour going around before hand that Battlefield was coming back? And everybody thought this meant a rerelease of the originals, but then we got presented with this. I think a lot of focus got put on the lack of space combat and the fact that it was a downgrade from a game that came out a decade ago
OP support characters, basically support jetpack Black folk: >DEAL MORE damage >HAVE MORE hp >HAVE STRONGER abilities
And don't get me started on OP shit like Vader, you can easily go 100:0 since it's impossible to die
who the hell cares, these games have been available on pc since day 1, they didn't even remaster the graphics or anything, you can get these same exact versions on steam.
False. These have new characters and maps, touched up graphics, and multiplayer servers with cross play. Can't do any of that with the original versions on PC.

I liked it as a game. Marketing it as Battlefront was a poor choice because it very much wasn’t. If it was marketed as Star Wars: Generic Shooter it would be less controversial.
nice gaslighting
what you really mean is that the morons who stuck around and toughed it out and just ate shit for month were kind of satisfied by the end that some things got fixed.
>Yeah, it’s awful on pc, people constantly rolling around, meta play style abusing rockets and mines…it’s lame.
Nah. As one of the 30 people who still very actively plays on PC for the last year, you have it wrong. Rocket dudes are fine, but Engineer is by far the most broken class. Engineer is immune to mines and can defuse mines with the fusion cutter. He can full heal himself 5 times (and teammates, but most people are selfish). Detpacks are instakills on almost every other unit and if you're pretty good then you can throw them a considerable distance. If Friendly Fire is completely turned off and you can't have a nice day then you can even just run up to people and immediately drop and detonate a detpack to kill everything around you. The shotgun is also good, not great. But good when combined with everything else the engineer has going on.
Snipers are also more broken than heavies imo but it obviously depends on the map. Maps like Kamino, Geonosis, etc. are all-out sniper maps. But the latency is so fricked for the most part on the popular servers over the years so sniper is never as good as he should be. All shots miss all the time even if you aim perfectly. Let alone headshots. This remake should probably have better latency so sniper will be broken I think.
Almost all special classes are very good too. Darktrooper most notably. Magnaguard #2 I think. I love Bothan just for funny CP capture shenanigans. Anything with recon is good too.
Heavies are fine. Not broken. Maybe on maps like Tantive it might feel that way because you can mine all the doors. But engineers will still run over you. BF2 might have the weakest rockets of any shooter game I've heard of. The splash damage is pretty weak and the reload time is like 5 seconds. I used to play heavy a lot when I first started playing online because it was the only way I could kill things but they're not very great. I only switch to kill tanks with mines. You can also instakill Jedis with mines
>If Friendly Fire is completely turned off and you can't have a nice day then you can even just run up to people and immediately drop and detonate a detpack to kill everything around you
I remember people doing this in BF2142 FF Off servers as well, shit was disgusting
>This just announced >Dark forces remaster next week >tfw you remember there was a solid decade plus where there were multiple banger SW games released every year
yeah star wars used to have an insane output of good games
never the same once disney got them, quality of releases aside their output dropped drastically too (video game wise, now they dumping as much shit shows as they can in desperation)
Personally I'm happy that zoomers will get the chance to play THE Battlefront (not that EA garbage) in its original form + extra goodies, without any remastering bs.
We played the originals when we were 5-8. Everyone and their mother played these games when they came out. In fact, they were what got me into the SW movies and SW as a whole in the first place.
Did they actually slightly improve the graphics or not? Because anyone that has played the classic version on steam without mods knows how insanely clunky it is aswell as the ai being horrible. I had to download a fricking 30gb reshader mod and an ai improved mod to make it playable. If they kept the old style but made the characters more "sharp"(detailed) so they don't turn into blocks from 50m away then it's at least something, but $35 is still WAY too much
Same. There was too much special shit in 2, BF1 felt much more like an actual boots on the ground faceless grunt type game.
Also the maps were better, luv me some Kashyyyk clusterfricks.
I want it the other way around, I prefer the gameplay of 1 and it isn't just disable heros lol type shit.
Miss air to ground the most but there's a lot of things that changed for the worse imo.
my thoughts exactly. or maybe they stole all mods and will repack it as super-dee-duper new edition
Same. There was too much special shit in 2, BF1 felt much more like an actual boots on the ground faceless grunt type game.
Also the maps were better, luv me some Kashyyyk clusterfricks.
1 was just a cleaner looking game across the board
2, as good as it was, was rushed in order to be shoehorned in with the release of revenge of the sith
imagine how much even better 2 could have been if it were a bit more time in the oven to not be a tie-in
I liked 1 more because you could fly spaceships on ground maps, and the AT-AT was a walking nuke in BF1. Its shots had a super high cooldown, but each shot had massive AoE explosive damage.
Cool, I guess. I have both games on PC (Discs, I won't feel bad about pirating if I want to) and on Xbox digitally and I couldn't care less about PvP because I'm an adult.
But this might show some zoomers what a real game plays like.
This is one of the worst things about the sequel movies. People talked shit on the Prequels. Rightfully, for many reasons. But like them or not they added so much space for universe-building and side-stories. VII through IX adds nothing for a cool new videogame to fit in.
I’d say the Prequels were fine movies that have mostly held up well. Really their only problem is that 1 and 2 were a bit rough around the edges due to George having to knock the rust off after not directing a movie for more than a decade. Still, the core of what’s there is good, even if it was a bit unrefined. Revenge of the Sith is arguably the best SW movie overall though— It has literally everything you could want from a SW and has some of the most memorable setpieces and scenes from the entire saga. 90% of Star Wars as we understand it today comes from Revenge of the Sith and it feels like the movie that George always wanted to make, but couldn’t until he’s done two movies of set-up first.
It's not that the sequels didn't "add" anything, it's that the games have taken very little advantage of them, so it seems like nothing was added. During the prequel era they were absolutely milking the frick out of every square inch, so otherwise tiny forgettable things became more important.

>It's not that the sequels didn't "add" anything >Clones vs Droids era >Rebels vs Stormtroopers era >Rebels vs Stormtroopers era
There is nothing of value to take from the sequels. Games can't take advantage of anything because the sequels have no originality.

Unironically, every wrong with the Sequels can be traced back to OT purists kvetching over the Prequels. We probably would have got something more unique and interesting if we got George’s sequel trilogy.

The scripts he gave to Disney were partially leaked >New Republic vs Shadow Collective led by Maul and Talon (clearly writen post TCW) >Luke's temple gets massacred by Han's son on screen as a "rhyme" with Order 66 >Luke survives the whole trilogy >Han still dies >Leia survives and becomes the new Chancelor >Ray-like girl is Luke's sidekick instead of a true main character >Ben Solo fricks Darth Talon

Literally all of those sound perfectly fine, and I’m not sure why Disney didn’t just follow that script beat for beat (though I’ve heard rumours that it had something to do with Abrams being an anti-Prequel gay and just wanting to make an OT clone as a result).

Prequel hate arguably was at it's high watermark, which likely fed into the overall hatred that conventional Hollywood always has had for George likely led them to reject Lucas's idea out of the gate, likely also wanting to keep George out of the picture in any way thinking he'd saddle the production and project too much of an aura as the driving force if they stuck to his script.

>There is nothing of value to take from the sequels.
There are several planets and setpieces to use as maps, for one.
Several new heroes, too, even though most would be rehashes.
You know thinking about it it’s kinda weird that Order 66 managed to get rid of a crapton of Jedi straight away. Jedi are walking armies and clones aren’t that much above the droids.
If anything, Order 66 gets less and less effective as new side stories are made where some jedi/padawan/whatever survives it and goes into hiding.

>Order 66 gets less and less effective as new side stories are made where some jedi/padawan/whatever survives it
This has really been messing up Star Wars for over a decade now. Disney is incapable of understanding and retaining the gravity of Order 66, watering everything down way too much. Filoni is a massive homosexual as well because he clearly doesn't care about it either. There's no more "Woah, a force wielder post Order 66" feeling anymore. The Clone Wars became mind poison for casual fans and creators.

EU had far more Order 66 survivors than Disney canon. >Disney canon >That makes the grand total 56. If we take 10,000 as the rough number of Jedi alive at the end of the Clone Wars, that’s one half of one percentage, or 0.56%. >EU >That brings the grand total for Legends to 181. Again using the 10,000 figure, that’s 1.81%.
In never said I condone the EU, did I? The vast majority of "fans" of anything are clueless morons who don't understand what makes something special.

Disney canon has existed for 1/3rd as long as the EU.
Also 99% of those "survivors" existed so Vader could have some story where he hunts them down and kills them. Actual unconfirmed deaths can be counted in the dozens.

I miss when I was a kid and the PC Star Wars game was AFTER the original trilogy with everything being rebuilt. I don’t get why everyone is so obsessed with this scarred time frame there are only two Siths and like three Jedi around

>it's that the games have taken very little advantage of them
To be fair, what games of major note have we had since EA got the exclusive rights? Fricking, Jedi Order/Survivor and the nuBattlefront games? Now the IP's free from their total control but it'll still take a while, and meanwhile the sequels are such a toxic cesspool that it seems writers and devs are dancing around it purposefully to go back to other older stories and characters.

I don’t know why they don’t just decanonise the Sequels if they’re that much of a burden to the franchise.
You can’t build merchandise around a trilogy if there’s nothing to build off of. Lucas understood this.

It made too much money hand-over-fist to ever plausibly be decanonized for real. Disney can just opt to simply move past and ignore it.
I vividly remember playing that map with my older brother as kids, and we were the only 2 Imperial grunts left, against 60 rebels. It took like 20 minutes, but we actually pulled it off and it felt great.

We've all played at least one such battle.
Mine was BF2 Geonosis in the AT-TE, my brother and I were the last reinforcement and tanked the entire CIS army. Comfy af
They better not frick with it. Just fix the resolution so we don't need widescreen fix. Fix multiplayer and leave it the frick alone. I miss this game.
no, they are bundling the two games (with dlc that I think was only on xbox live which was 2 characters and maybe a couple maps) and selling it for 50 quid
the games were like 5 quid or less last sale
If it contained the cancelled Battlefront 3, this would be one of gaming's most kino announcements, but it's just more goyslop re-releases, so I don't care
>Simple >Classic battlefield experience
If it’s nearly a 1:1 game aside from updated AI and bug fixes, I’m sold.
Frick CoD, BF, and nu-SWBF and their fricking lootboxes
Nah. They have better maps, better gunplay, better movement, better era representation and better vehicles. The one thing that's still annoying are heroes but they're way easier to outplay with fundamentals regardless. Look past nostalgia and BF2 is genuinely the best Battlefront game.
>better maps
Lolno >better gunplay
But a much worse selection of weapons >better movement
True >better era representation
Better graphics, the era representation is about the same >better vehicles
Significantly worse vehicles
>Lolno
They're way more focused. >But a much worse selection of weapons
Though they're also way better balanced and truer to canon. >vehicles
The vehicle engine was so good they even made a fighter spinoff with it.
>They have better maps,
Objectively wrong >better gunplay,
Fair >better movement,
Fair >better era representation
Objectively wrong since they force TCW troony shit and fricking sequel slop >and better vehicles
They are summoned in on respawn and don’t have map presence, absolutely not
Completely unbalanced large scale multiplayer shooter. Has vehicles and classes which are pretty varied. It's good for casual fun. Also has bots which have sustained the old versions for so long, but their AI is horrible. It's usually serviceable since it's such a big game, but often you'll see AI just doing the most robotic mindless shit.
All 4 factions have 4 ship types >bomber ship >fighter ship >balanced ship >landing ship
They are self-explanatory. Just use the specialized ones depending on what you feel like doing. The balanced one (X-wing, TIE-fighter, etc.) is basically not ever worth using. And they each have slight quirks depending on the faction. IMO the droid ones are the best overall.
Jesus Christ, that's gonna be chaotic. I hope these games have crossplay. If they manage not to frick it up somehow I would love for these games to be populated for as long as possible.
I'm not that excited. I was severely addicted to the nu battlefront heroes vs villains mode for years and I don't think I can go back to the OG controls and hero movement
That’s the big thing. I better be able to play galactic conquest online with my buddy. We’ve been playing splitscreen conquest for 20 years and I can only imagine the difference when we can no longer screen peak each other.
You know thinking about it it’s kinda weird that Order 66 managed to get rid of a crapton of Jedi straight away. Jedi are walking armies and clones aren’t that much above the droids.
nah, most jedi aren't that cracked. just a bunch of baby stealing monks with spiritual training. most survived through luck or because of exceptional skill
it was well calculated, jedi were widely spread going solo or pairs at most, leading the clone armies and when order came they were generally surrounded by thousand of suddenly hostile clones, tanks, fighters, etc. and pretty much all of the rest was in the temple, also suddenly in the middle of enemy base/planet
even badass like Yoda survived mostly thanks to luck with him being on Kashyyk so his army was only half clones and rest wookies and they started killing each other instead of all ganging on him
Every clone had it, with few special intentional exceptions like Boba who straight dont have it, and some accidental goofs like the Batch who have it but borked.
I can't fricking wait, anyone know if switch is getting a physical release at launch, or if it's digital only? So fricking pumped dude I love these games, and this will increase the player-base.
>Be 11 >Playing Galactic Conquest as Republic >Coruscant, last Clone left against ~20 droids >Come in clutch by doing hit and run guerilla shit and win the planet

>Added no new vehicles >Didn't add new units like crab droid or Dwarf spider droid >Didn't create any new maps
Didn't they just screw over everyone since this new one will be incompatable with mods for the originals?
I bought both for $10 for PC on disc from Toys R Us in like 2009. If I ever play this rerelease, I'm pirating it. But I probably wont' because 50GB is mentally moronic and everyone responsible should be hanging from a lamp post by the end of next week.
Kinda shocking that people lap it up. It's literally a cash grab re-release of the old game, AGAIN. And they sell this shit for $35. I already have both of those Battlefronts on Steam. Why won't these homosexuals fix the existing versions that they have been selling for years? Noo, gotta buy a rerelease of a 20 year old game. Frick these israelites. At least Empire at War devs actually fix the game and update it still, instead of ripping you off and re-releasing it.
Darth Maul has always been OP as shit so I guess him if I want to be a goober, otherwise Grievous is way more fun to play.
Dooku/Palpatine if I just want to win because of the Force Choke/Lightning glitch
This game always had super autistic 24/7 mos-eisley jedi battle only servers running and the people who would play on them all day took it extremely seriously. I had the most fun picking Chewbacca, hiding in a corner somewhere, and launching remote rockets to kill people who were trying to 1v1 duel. Or Leia - nobody ever plays her so a lot of people don't even know this but she has a move that makes all heroes invincible around her for like 20 seconds, which a lot of people rage at. One time I managed to get like 5 other dudes to pick Leia with me and we all stood in a corner near an ammo droid trading off Invincibility activations while we shot everyone down who approached us.
What did the old Battlefront games do so right that the recent ones failed? I played Battlefront 2 for days as a kid but I don’t think I played the PS4 one for even an hour
The first of the reboots wasn't awful but it wasn't amazing either. The second one tanked all its reputation due to the horrible microtransactions though.
Now where's my Star Wars: Rogue Leaders remaster? It's been sitting in a shelf in a finished state for so long, and Julian Eggebrecht has publicly asked Aspyr to work on it.
Crossplay is MANDATORY.

Odds they delist the originals and this version isn't compatible with old mods at all.
The collection is updated and published by Aspyr. I doubt they have the power to delist.
modded bf was shit anyway, we always played vanilla since it was already such a tight game
The graphics mods are great though
Is this even going to be any different than the versions already on steam? The first Battlefront even got an update a few years ago that included the new map already so i don't really see the point in a whole new release on pc. If it's just going to improve the online it should just be a patch.

netcode on steam for those games is fricked hope they polished it up
>Doesn’t include the PSP/DS games
LMAO
PSP/DS games in general simply do not get "HD collections" like other consoles do.
The GoW PSP games.
MGS Peace Walker says hi
That is simply not true.
isn't renegade squadron the one where you use a loadout instead of picking a class?
yes, and elite squadron had simultaneous land and space combat
Not exactly, it had loading screens when you go into and out of space. But it's the closest thing to a true battlefront 3 anyone will ever get.
>it had loading screens when you go into and out of space
Elite Squadron is genuinely the best star wars game Vision wise, crazy it was locked behind PSP of all platforms
That's because Elite Squadron is what's left over of Battlefront 3.
Elite really should have been in this rerelease. I get Renegade not being in, but Elite is literally just Battlefront 3.
The frick are the first two? I had the psp BF2 and the npc picking heroes as well as a huge upgrade.
renegade squadron is basically battlefront 2.5
elite squadron is what is left of battlefront 3
The main thing I remember about Renegade Squadron was how prevalent hackers were.
Like there'd be a guy flying around at 10000 miles an hour insta-killing everyone with rockets at spawn, in 90% of matches.
I'll take it, kinda wished it came with Renegade/Elite Squadron though
Can't wait to frick noobs as Darth Maul
BESPIN DROIDEKA BROS WW@

did they confirm it? frick I really hope it has crossplay, combining all userbases will mean endless supply of full matches, they need to do that

These games were amazing, nu-Battlefront was a fricking cancer.
How much is this gonna cost on Steam? We already own the damn games.
i'm thinkin
$59.99 + tax

Now I'm wondering if Aspyr can finish Battlefront 3 and release it
what always irritated me about that game is that the clone faces are white instead of being modeld after maoris
The white dudes are clones of a jedi, not clones of Jango
ah I see makes sense
Oh yeah that was the free radical one. I listened to a podcast with one of the lead devs where he talked about it, apparently the publishers kept expanding the scope beyond what the devs were capable of delivering so the whole thing fell through.

revived cut content and new actively supported servers
>revived cut content
Literally 3 characters, kys shill
Eh they should have made it 128 player matches.
>tried looking up info to see if they bumped up the AI counts across the board
128 v 128 would shine in a game like this.
the maps are nowhere near big enough for that.
although space battles would be hilarious. you'd have 100 players per team just waiting in the hangar for ships to spawn
I only ever stuck with Hoth and a few maps with the CIS. I'm more interested in seeing how many blaster volleys it would take to burn a hole through an AT-AT.
maps would be way too little
100% this, after the advent of 100 player matches in battle royale games being a thing for a decade now 64 is paltry
The maps are generally pretty well-designed to make the player count feel larger.
Modern multiplayer is no fun allowed. You can't have matches that big, think of how that would effect the competitive scene!
>poli massa
>bespin bridges
>tantive
the ptsd such large matches would cause on those maps
I hope they fix up the PC ports, 2's PC port always felt like shit to me for some reason
Why was disney Battlefront terrible again? I forgot.
lootboxes
skills/stat boosts tied to equippable cards instead of just balancing classes based on the class choice itself
vehicles dont spawn in the world but just materialize
Lootboxes were what turned the public against it, the gameplay modes were also just less interesting for the most part.
Funniest thing is that the lootboxes were actually removed before launch never to return but everyone still talks about them.
you have only one goodwill
Because the only reason they removed them was backlash harsh enough to get into the guinness book of records
It wasn't. Actually, they were way better. Ganker just never played them.
Imagine defending EA
>Push last objective with your clone buddies
>Scrom lumbago, the hip character that appeared for five minutes in the movies, drops 30 gas landmines that completely stonewall your entire teams progress
>lose the ship assault and go back to stalemating on the battlefield
outskilled
I played it for like 40 minutes. For some reason each side only has like 5 players on a map. The point of battlefront was being a small part of a big army. Also the gameplay seemed too complicated, I just wanna grab a gun and shoot stuff.
it was a pretty well made game on the Dice side, graphics and sound are fantastic, but managed by EA it was always doomed
BF1: No single player, limited to jsut a few OT callbacks, with a lot missing compared to old BFs
BF2: Singleplayer was mid at best, lootboxes made multiplayer absurdly pay to win and blocked non-paypigs from using cool characters like Vader
I wish they'd add all the shit from 1 to 2. I want to play as Jyn Erso again. The maps especially.
>Nufront 1
No content
>Nufront 2
Lootboxes at launch
Besides the microtransactions, wasn't there a rumour going around before hand that Battlefield was coming back? And everybody thought this meant a rerelease of the originals, but then we got presented with this. I think a lot of focus got put on the lack of space combat and the fact that it was a downgrade from a game that came out a decade ago
OP support characters, basically support jetpack Black folk:
>DEAL MORE damage
>HAVE MORE hp
>HAVE STRONGER abilities
And don't get me started on OP shit like Vader, you can easily go 100:0 since it's impossible to die
shit game
A year after release until they cut support, it was one of the best Star Wars games ever imo
Never played it. Is it good? Also, how is multiplayer?
okay so will they have active servers for it or not?
WATCH
PS5 really does have no games
>Online
>possibly cross-play
Yup. It's KINO time. Time to frick up some Xbros.
who the hell cares, these games have been available on pc since day 1, they didn't even remaster the graphics or anything, you can get these same exact versions on steam.
False. These have new characters and maps, touched up graphics, and multiplayer servers with cross play. Can't do any of that with the original versions on PC.
well I stand corrected, still I can't tell any difference in the graphics
It has new resolutions for modern screens, I think.
main new addition on PC is split screen co op imo
still playing the originals
I am on PS4. Will there be crossplay with other platforms?
Allegedly, yes.
This exists on PC for quite some time. This is what console players are celebrating?
If you haven’t played these since 2004/2005, you will quickly find out after about 10 minutes (novelty wears off) there isn’t much to them.
>multiplayer
Yeah, it’s awful on pc, people constantly rolling around, meta play style abusing rockets and mines…it’s lame.
Unironically, trying to go back to them after putting hundreds of hours into each EA Battlefront just made me realize that the new ones are better.
>ones
At least makes the bait believable. Not a soul on earth actually likes the first EA Battlefront.
I liked it as a game. Marketing it as Battlefront was a poor choice because it very much wasn’t. If it was marketed as Star Wars: Generic Shooter it would be less controversial.
anon, EA BF2 post updates is widely considered in the top star wars games even by nerds.
>but muh launch controversy
No one cares anymore.
nice gaslighting
what you really mean is that the morons who stuck around and toughed it out and just ate shit for month were kind of satisfied by the end that some things got fixed.
So I still need game ranger to play mp?
og bf never required game ranger for the past few years and still has dedicated servers running
tried playing it when the dedicated servers were announced and it was an inferior experience to gameranger
then nothing will change for you in this lazy re-release
>If Friendly Fire is completely turned off and you can't have a nice day then you can even just run up to people and immediately drop and detonate a detpack to kill everything around you
I remember people doing this in BF2142 FF Off servers as well, shit was disgusting
>the modern reboots bombed so hard they have to re-release the classics again at full price
S
Please implement cross play you fricking mouse
>This just announced
>Dark forces remaster next week
>tfw you remember there was a solid decade plus where there were multiple banger SW games released every year
yeah star wars used to have an insane output of good games
never the same once disney got them, quality of releases aside their output dropped drastically too (video game wise, now they dumping as much shit shows as they can in desperation)
Tbf they started going downhill after about 2006 when the prequels ended. Lucasarts killed itself through mismanagement, disney just buried it.
Can't wait for everyone to see how shit these games actually are
Played these a year ago and realized how blinded I was from the nostalgia
>the only games anyone cares about anymore are 20 year old ones like Tomb Raider and Battlefront
At least they're kind of seeing this
Perfect game to play on the go with my Sony PlayStation Portal.
>he doesn't know
Why the frick would I buy these when I got them both digitally for under 10 dollars already?
I hate Yidsney and I hate how excited goycattle here is for basically nothing new.
Personally I'm happy that zoomers will get the chance to play THE Battlefront (not that EA garbage) in its original form + extra goodies, without any remastering bs.
>will get the chance to play THE Battlefront
We played the originals when we were 5-8. Everyone and their mother played these games when they came out. In fact, they were what got me into the SW movies and SW as a whole in the first place.
t. zoomer.
And I'm a boomer who got into them when the MP was already dead.
you didn't play shit, homosexual
Did they actually slightly improve the graphics or not? Because anyone that has played the classic version on steam without mods knows how insanely clunky it is aswell as the ai being horrible. I had to download a fricking 30gb reshader mod and an ai improved mod to make it playable. If they kept the old style but made the characters more "sharp"(detailed) so they don't turn into blocks from 50m away then it's at least something, but $35 is still WAY too much
my thoughts exactly. or maybe they stole all mods and will repack it as super-dee-duper new edition
>all those zoomers who are about to get destroyed by wrist rockets
Can't wait
Frick yeah
I hope the modding scene will port bf 2 maps to bf 1.
I always preferred 1 even though I easily put 200 hours more in 2
1's ui was a lot cooler looking
Same. There was too much special shit in 2, BF1 felt much more like an actual boots on the ground faceless grunt type game.
Also the maps were better, luv me some Kashyyyk clusterfricks.
To my understanding all the BF1 maps are being put into BF2 as bonus maps for the collection so no modding needed
>all the BF1 maps are being put into BF2
no, only 4 maps that were from the original DLC
I want it the other way around, I prefer the gameplay of 1 and it isn't just disable heros lol type shit.
Miss air to ground the most but there's a lot of things that changed for the worse imo.
Game Time Started
Will it have split screen ?
on pc yes
I can play this while the Helldivers team gets their shit together
I'm nervous about my old copies on Steam. What will happen to them?
>take off into space
>immediately die to the opposing auto-turret
They better fix that broken PoS
git gud
Skill issue.
Cool, I guess. I have both games on PC (Discs, I won't feel bad about pirating if I want to) and on Xbox digitally and I couldn't care less about PvP because I'm an adult.
But this might show some zoomers what a real game plays like.
>you are now travelling to: Bespin platforms
>Polis Massa
More like Polis Massacre
>is a planet that’s literally in one scene of RoTS
>becomes infamous due to BF2
Amazing how the expanded universe stuff adds an entirely new dimension to these locations from the movies.
>It's not that the sequels didn't "add" anything
>Clones vs Droids era
>Rebels vs Stormtroopers era
>Rebels vs Stormtroopers era
There is nothing of value to take from the sequels. Games can't take advantage of anything because the sequels have no originality.
Unironically, every wrong with the Sequels can be traced back to OT purists kvetching over the Prequels. We probably would have got something more unique and interesting if we got George’s sequel trilogy.
the prequels are still shit zoomer
>We probably would have got something more unique and interesting if we got George’s sequel trilogy.
The scripts he gave to Disney were partially leaked
>New Republic vs Shadow Collective led by Maul and Talon (clearly writen post TCW)
>Luke's temple gets massacred by Han's son on screen as a "rhyme" with Order 66
>Luke survives the whole trilogy
>Han still dies
>Leia survives and becomes the new Chancelor
>Ray-like girl is Luke's sidekick instead of a true main character
>Ben Solo fricks Darth Talon
Btw Maul+Talon game was actually in development before Disney purge ended it all
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Battle_of_the_Sith_Lords
its weird. Since Lucas lost the time battle, they should just adapt existing EU timeline into movie and stop b***hing. we already know what happened for another 150 years. so I dont give a shit about anything jizney vomits
>There is nothing of value to take from the sequels.
There are several planets and setpieces to use as maps, for one.
Several new heroes, too, even though most would be rehashes.
>Disney canon
>That makes the grand total 56. If we take 10,000 as the rough number of Jedi alive at the end of the Clone Wars, that’s one half of one percentage, or 0.56%.
>EU
>That brings the grand total for Legends to 181. Again using the 10,000 figure, that’s 1.81%.
https://numidianprime.wordpress.com/2023/06/06/jedi-survivors-running-the-numbers/
In never said I condone the EU, did I? The vast majority of "fans" of anything are clueless morons who don't understand what makes something special.
canon
>>That makes the grand total 56
right now...
Disney can just opt to simply move past and ignore it.
>battlefront 1 geonosis
>bespin: Cloud city
>tfw being absolute scum in the gunship
I vividly remember playing that map with my older brother as kids, and we were the only 2 Imperial grunts left, against 60 rebels. It took like 20 minutes, but we actually pulled it off and it felt great.
>Be 11
>Playing Galactic Conquest as Republic
>Coruscant, last Clone left against ~20 droids
>Come in clutch by doing hit and run guerilla shit and win the planet
Core gaming memory
Mine was BF2 Geonosis in the AT-TE, my brother and I were the last reinforcement and tanked the entire CIS army. Comfy af
Felucia was worse than Polis Massa, hearing this alone scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
It's spooky but not an absolute meat grinder
All baby shit compared to the Rhen Var caves.
I'm not giving EA money. It's just not going to happen.
ea isn't involved
They better not frick with it. Just fix the resolution so we don't need widescreen fix. Fix multiplayer and leave it the frick alone. I miss this game.
This is sick as frick. Any word on physical editions yet?
>same fricking games but for 50 quid you can pirate or buy on sale
>not even remastered
why the applause
This is a console release on modern systems.
i don't think you get that this is coming out on pc as well
Really? What did they add to it? Is it a remaster?
no, they are bundling the two games (with dlc that I think was only on xbox live which was 2 characters and maybe a couple maps) and selling it for 50 quid
the games were like 5 quid or less last sale
I wish they would remaster the RotS game next. I hate having to rely on emulation to play it
It would be great if they did that next.
That's for the RotS aniversary next year
>RoTS (both the movie and the game)
>BF2
>KOTOR 2
>the first Lego SW
2004-2005 was the absolute golden age of Star Wars. There was no better time to be a fan of the series than then.
I’d really appreciate it for Aspyr remade KOTOR 2 for modern consoles with the Restored Content Mod installed but probably never ever
Didn't they try to do that for the Switch, but failed to deliver?
Yup, unfortunately. Which is why, although I am quite excited for this port, I’m worried they’ll frick something up equally as much
I wonder if all the out of bounds glitches will still work.
dont tell me they are gonna delist the originals...
🙂
If it contained the cancelled Battlefront 3, this would be one of gaming's most kino announcements, but it's just more goyslop re-releases, so I don't care
They should have just done 2. It's the superior game, and these packs of multiplayer games always just split the community in half.
>It's the superior game
wrong
I am surprised they didn’t just combine the two into one game though. It’s doable with today’s tech.
there are mechanical differences between the two that would upset fans of either one if it was consolidated
>Simple
>Classic battlefield experience
If it’s nearly a 1:1 game aside from updated AI and bug fixes, I’m sold.
Frick CoD, BF, and nu-SWBF and their fricking lootboxes
Are they going to make it so you can pick any hero on any map?
yeah, modern consoles are shit.
I unironically like DICE'S BF2 more than any of these games.
Well you ARE gay.
Nah. They have better maps, better gunplay, better movement, better era representation and better vehicles. The one thing that's still annoying are heroes but they're way easier to outplay with fundamentals regardless. Look past nostalgia and BF2 is genuinely the best Battlefront game.
>better maps
Lolno
>better gunplay
But a much worse selection of weapons
>better movement
True
>better era representation
Better graphics, the era representation is about the same
>better vehicles
Significantly worse vehicles
>Lolno
They're way more focused.
>But a much worse selection of weapons
Though they're also way better balanced and truer to canon.
>vehicles
The vehicle engine was so good they even made a fighter spinoff with it.
>They have better maps,
Objectively wrong
>better gunplay,
Fair
>better movement,
Fair
>better era representation
Objectively wrong since they force TCW troony shit and fricking sequel slop
>and better vehicles
They are summoned in on respawn and don’t have map presence, absolutely not
>Objectively wrong since they force TCW troony shit and fricking sequel slop
Dude, the clone wars is literally all the prequel era is.
The vehicles are the worst aspect of the nu games.
never played these
what are they like
Fun
>never played these
you should
they are dirt cheap on PC
especially on sale
Completely unbalanced large scale multiplayer shooter. Has vehicles and classes which are pretty varied. It's good for casual fun. Also has bots which have sustained the old versions for so long, but their AI is horrible. It's usually serviceable since it's such a big game, but often you'll see AI just doing the most robotic mindless shit.
very fun, even offline
single player campaign is neat
galactic conquest mode is the goat
it's my most played Steam Deck game next to perfect dark
Guaranteed to be buggy, broken piece of shit
aka video game release in [current year]
Bros what are the most fricken broken vehicles in space battles?
Which is the best to have my mates main on the turret?
It’s fricken space battles only time.
Kino is back
All 4 factions have 4 ship types
>bomber ship
>fighter ship
>balanced ship
>landing ship
They are self-explanatory. Just use the specialized ones depending on what you feel like doing. The balanced one (X-wing, TIE-fighter, etc.) is basically not ever worth using. And they each have slight quirks depending on the faction. IMO the droid ones are the best overall.
>64 players
Jesus Christ, that's gonna be chaotic. I hope these games have crossplay. If they manage not to frick it up somehow I would love for these games to be populated for as long as possible.
There's no fricking excuse for it being 50 gigs when it looks like that.
I hope we can install mods
I'm not that excited. I was severely addicted to the nu battlefront heroes vs villains mode for years and I don't think I can go back to the OG controls and hero movement
Ok but what about online galactic conquest?
that would be amazing
That’s the big thing. I better be able to play galactic conquest online with my buddy. We’ve been playing splitscreen conquest for 20 years and I can only imagine the difference when we can no longer screen peak each other.
It was my biggest disappointment with the previous PC release when they made no effort to port those couch coop offerings to online play.
I can't shake the feeling they're going to ruin it somehow
Clones will be non-white
you sure that's the worst that could happen? GL has a black wife now
that was obviously a joke you moron
>He doesn't know about Lucas' Jungle Fever
I think lucas headcanons a plantation owner.
THX 1138 literally has a scene where the main protag jerk offs to a hologram of a naked dancing black woman.
>He gave her a tube top
the clones are modeld after an Maori, they were never white
They cloned a Pacific islander of course they're not white
slaves shouldnt be white anyway
You know thinking about it it’s kinda weird that Order 66 managed to get rid of a crapton of Jedi straight away. Jedi are walking armies and clones aren’t that much above the droids.
nah, most jedi aren't that cracked. just a bunch of baby stealing monks with spiritual training. most survived through luck or because of exceptional skill
Anyone who could fight was out at one of the numerous fronts.
Also
>just a bunch of baby stealing monks
Sith hands wrote this.
In KOTOR 2, HK-47 says that Jedi are especially vulnerable against sneak attacks and sudden, impulsive betrayals.
And that’s exactly how Palpatine won— By gaining the Jedi’s trust and then stabbing them in the back when they put their guard down.
Element of surprise plays a big part. Majority of them died on day 1. Those that weren't killed straight away managed to survive for years
it was well calculated, jedi were widely spread going solo or pairs at most, leading the clone armies and when order came they were generally surrounded by thousand of suddenly hostile clones, tanks, fighters, etc. and pretty much all of the rest was in the temple, also suddenly in the middle of enemy base/planet
even badass like Yoda survived mostly thanks to luck with him being on Kashyyk so his army was only half clones and rest wookies and they started killing each other instead of all ganging on him
By the way I’ve been wondering but did the clones back then also have a mind control chip like as exposed in the Bad Batch tv series?
Every clone had it, with few special intentional exceptions like Boba who straight dont have it, and some accidental goofs like the Batch who have it but borked.
I can't fricking wait, anyone know if switch is getting a physical release at launch, or if it's digital only? So fricking pumped dude I love these games, and this will increase the player-base.
Seems to be digital only on all platforms for now
Probably going to have some limited run, bs later, eh well I'm not buying it twice, so digital it is.
Elite Squadron is actually pretty good, arguably better than 2.
And of course it's not part of the remaster.
We've all played at least one such battle.
how are they going to israelite it up "for modern audiences"
Looks like Jedis are back on the menu boys!
>no 64 vs 64
Which way, white man?
Up.

>overdesigned

>nah bruh, gimme that alienware look

I never liked the episode 2 clone outfits, I prefer the more bloated helmets
>Added no new vehicles
>Didn't add new units like crab droid or Dwarf spider droid
>Didn't create any new maps
Didn't they just screw over everyone since this new one will be incompatable with mods for the originals?
they need to add mod support

could you imagine...
>150 troops per team
>in a 64v64

FRICK Y-ACK
on one hand, $15 per game isn't bad
on the other, i bought both when they were new 20 years ago so i have no incentive to pay that amount
Oh no, a day's wages. Completely unaffordable!
>day's wages
those poor cambodian kids
Both are on Steam and GOG for $10 each
I bought both for $10 for PC on disc from Toys R Us in like 2009. If I ever play this rerelease, I'm pirating it. But I probably wont' because 50GB is mentally moronic and everyone responsible should be hanging from a lamp post by the end of next week.
HOW THE FRICK IS IT 50 GBS FOR A RERELEASE OF 2 GAMES THAT ARE IN TOTAL 3?
Uncompressed 4/8K textures and audio are the usual culprits. Total incompetence.
I will be engaging crazy ass white boy mode in this game once I have my crazy white hands on it
>online battlefront is BACK
We're going home.
What hero do you pick usually?
Obi-Wan for Light Side. Maul for Dark Side.
Whats the point of this if you already have battlefront 2 on steam?
Crossplay. Current Steam version doesn't have crossplay with consoles. This version allows all major consoles, and PC, to play against one another.
The store page doesn't say that and none of the news articles I'm reading mention crossplay.
>allows all major consoles, and PC, to play against one another.
I can already hear the whine
What did the old Battlefront games do so right that the recent ones failed? I played Battlefront 2 for days as a kid but I don’t think I played the PS4 one for even an hour
The first of the reboots wasn't awful but it wasn't amazing either. The second one tanked all its reputation due to the horrible microtransactions though.
3rd person, vehicles, space combat, customization (Renegade squadron), atmosphere, being able to crawl (BF1), etc
They focus on infantry, the new ones almost force you to switch to a hero character as fast as possible
galactic conquest
>can get in and out of vehicles normally
>can hijack opponent's vehicles
>said vehicles are never on rails either
>sees announcement
>okay maybe-
>50 gbs
There is no excuse on this fricking spaghetii planet for somehow transforming two games of 2 GBs in size to 50.
I don't play shooters anymore, but man I'm actually tempted to get this. I used to play the shit out of this game back then.
Just buy it and have fun, or say you'll never give another dime to Disney and ignore it. You'll feel good either way.
Now where's my Star Wars: Rogue Leaders remaster? It's been sitting in a shelf in a finished state for so long, and Julian Eggebrecht has publicly asked Aspyr to work on it.
Now THAT is worth paying for.
Any word on whether it will have achievements?
yea it will, according to this guy
?si=S308PuoRoDulHpWO
>$35
HAH no, I'm just missing the first Battlefront and the Jedi Academy games, I'm not bot getting this cashgrab even on a sale
just play the old game?
