this sounds like a negative but it's actually a positive. More often than not he would just run into a red poop or spiked rock and kill himself, locking you into lost mode for the remain of the floor. That's no more.

Lowering MaxScale lets you see WAY more in big rooms. Very helpful when you're fighting bosses like Hush and Delirium where you need to keep track of everything on screen.
You can either do this with a mod, in Repentogon's console, or editing the options.ini file in the Isaac folder in MyGames with a lower value.

The actual key to victory is to find one of the tens of reroll pickups/items and then reroll a secret room/angel room item to get something completely busted. THAT is the current meta, not holding R.

Surprise! I did one more run, and I beat it, too. This time, I exempted myself from picking up anything "defensive". I did pick up Starter Deck though, and with Acid Baby that kinda gave me free Holy Cards.

I beat all of TLost without cheats.
It was pretty miserable.
I stopped playing a while later cause i got tired of it all.
I recently decided to come back and consider finishing it.
And then I somehow lost my save cause Steam cloud saving just decided to fumble it at some point.
I managed to actually collect images of my progress that i used to post on here and then compared the rest against the Steam achievements I had.
So I occasionally boot up the game, give myself a ton of OP shit, then warp through and kill as many bosses as possible on characters I've 100%ed. I'm about a 3rd done, shame Repentance doesn't have a proper save editor.
I plan on doing all of TLost legit, but that is a while off yet.

I have been trying to get back into isaac with some mods but didn't want to alter the regular game that much.

I did after 900 hours and ~3 years. It's still the same fun game. Weird thing is, nothing came close during all that time. Idk if Edmund is a genius or if no one even understands what makes isaac good.
In my opinion, what makes Isaac so good is the RNG and how every mechanic, currency, and entity can deeply interact with each other like an immersive sim.
The tainted characters really highlight how they fundamentally change how you play Isaac when you add new rules to the solid foundation the game already has. On the other side of the coin, how terrible base AB+ was, simple stat changer items are the lowest form of content you could add to Isaac.

Yea, true. The game didn't really shine for me until I learned how to really push my luck, abuse every mechanic and taking calculated risks. It's great, every other game seem to rely on RNG too much.

The most fun one can have with Isaac is not getting a super OP run, but the feeling of conquering/breaking the game with all the tools it was presented to you.
I will never forget managing to reroll a secret room item into a death certificate because I started bombing every mushroom in the hopes of getting a 48-hour pill during a daily.

Not only that, most of them don't have much depth. For example, Isaac really opens itself when you stop seeing your hearts as your health bar but as a currency to be spent.
The Mirror dimension is awesome, he knife piece 1 is fully realized mechanic and even rewards players that take the risk of playing as lost.
Knife piece 2 becomes a slog. There should be a way to get rewards if you let the mom's shadow chase you for the rest of the floor, akin to playing as t. Jacob.
I found both knife searches extremely tedious, but you are correct that piece 1 is much better than piece 2
I strongly hate that the segment removes all your items, making it identical and repetitive. The whole appeal of the game to me is variance created through items

Anon, I'm at 51% with less than 1/5 of your playtime.
Just get good at dodging and taking risks. Go in the cursed room, use the sacrifice room, take deals, use blood donation machines, and always try to rig the game.
Minmax
Literally the nr 1 issue most everyone has with isaac is rushing. Put boss rush and hush out of your mind and focus on each run at a time. Take all the time in the world. Full clear every floor, do everything possible on a floor, try and squeeze every advantage out of whatever combination of items you might get in a run.
Ive frequently had like an average of an hour-2 hour runs. Ive had some runs go as far as 5 hours. You dont have to go that insane, but learn to take your time and stretch the limits of the game's systems and bend them to your will.
I'm struggling to beat Mother. I take my time and get a lot of items but they're not strong enough to beat her. I can't seem to ever dodge her attacks. I don't restart for better items either
Look up a video of her attacks. They're pretty well telegraphed and predictable. Or just hit up the angel rooms and pray for a stupid broken build.
Just get gnawed leaf and something that auto attacks

Call it a hunch, but I don't think Greed Mode was as thoroughly tested as the main game mode was.
Yeah it wasn't, there's some rooms where you're just fricked and the enemies will spawn offscreen and still hit you or spawn on top of you

It improves greed mode so much, it can make it fun. Also makes it similar to the core experience.
It even adds other special rooms that can spawn in place of the sacrifice room.
Doing Greedier as T. Lost was hands down the most annoying mark of all for me just since it's straight up not fair
Just because an enemy can spawn on top of you between phase changes and kill you instantly doesn't make it unfair. It just means you need to plan 10 seconds ahead at all times.
For me, it's the Forgotten and Tainted Forgotten. I just don't have fun playing anyone but those two anymore.

cards dropping in the first place (from a room reward or a skull) is random, and them being replaced by a holy card is also random
I'm talking about how perfection always drops on floor 3 if you don't take unintentional damage, or how holy mantle always prevents the first hit in the room, how downpour 2 always has knife piece 1, etc

I've got runs where I lost my starter mantle in caves II to die 3-4 chapters later because not a single card spawned.
A single holy card spawning at the beginning of every new floor or at least sold at the shop. Hell, make even if we have to choose between a holy card or an item, any way that is 100% guaranteed holy cards every single run.

I usually run to the bottom instead of the side to get far away from greedier's exploding spreadshot. Bonus since I often find lump of coal in the shop or from devil rooms.

What about the rules card? Why doesn't it give you genuinely useful hints about the game and it's weird depth? Even for small things like keeper corpses increasing devil/angel chances if you blow them up or the donation machine being able to provide luck upgrades.
