I got to the stage 5 boss of Dodonpachi on a single credit. The base 1cc is within range of the next month. Thank you based LS-32.

What are the best Cave shmups besides Dodonpachi? Really not digging the lil kawaii girls and theme
Espgaluda is probably the best or most underrated at least. Amazing soundtrack and slowdown use
Early gratz to you man. Once you've learned stage 5 that 1cc is basically free
Dangun Feveron is probably their most widely appealing game. I generally don't care for score but Dangun's scoring system hits too well to ignore.
The original Donpachi is also very good.
Cave is trash, if you want good arcade shmups look to ones developed by Konami, Namco, Irem, Toaplan, Seibu, Psikyo.
>not digging the lil kawaii girls and theme
I mean I absolutely get this in any other circumstance but the theming is so secondary in ddp I can't imagine being bothered by it. even the one after daioujou that I can't remember the name of leaned more into it but it's still so ignorable that I forget there are anime girls involved at all (I dislike that game for entirely unrelated aesthetic reasons)
DingDongwhatchi?.. just more cookie-cutter, boring "shots-everywhere" junk to BORE me to TEARS, sorry. Last one of these new games I tried was Ikaraga... Sorry! but I learned to play color-matching games when I was two, don't need to do it anymore! Deleted THAT computer application from my Dell desktop after about 20 minutes.
R-Type, Gradius, Darius... those classics are a little more up MY alley. No TINY hitboxes to make the game look harder than it is, no half-naked japanimation cartoon girls, no gimmicky scoring to cover up the total lack of any real substance... just a little thing called good old-fashioned GAMEPLAY that seems to be forgotten nowadays... yep, I love all the super-duper powerups, and checkpoints.. yes recovery is HARD but not IMPOSSIBLE. You actually have to put in a little elbow grease to get your strength back! Something the little ones today could stand to learn from, if you ask me! They seem to want games where you can kill everything on the screen with one button press, right after inserting a coin! Instant gratification with no challenge. And personally, I usually prefer a "side-view" kind of shooter compared to a "bird's eye view" one, all those obstacles give levels a lot more personality, not such a common thing when every me-too game wants to look and play the same.
Me, I've been playing a lot of R-Type part two lately. I can only clear a couple of boards on my first man right now. I may wear out my joystick before I can manage my one quarter win! But I don't quit! What can I say, I prefer a little hard work to getting a free handout! Playing some Wings of Wor on my Sega too, and Biohazard Battle. Great vintage stuff!

Do fighting game 1cc's require hardest or default difficulty?
they require why would you fricking do that, playing fighting games single player is dumb
It's pattern recognition like any other game.
there are quite a lot of things that require pattern recognition that I wouldn't engage in for fun, that's damning with faint praise

How often should I grease my LS-32?
The way I go by is to look inside under the dust cover and see if any grease is left in the grease traps. Those are the little grooves in the body of the joystick that the pivot sits in. As long as there is still a good amount of shin etsu grease in that groove it should still be automatically greasing itself.
At least that's my logic. I'd like to see a statement from Seimitsu about it.
Finally got the no-miss on VS. Super Mario Bros. tonight on normal difficulty. Celebrating with a diet coke.

Question about arcade pads. I was thinking of getting one, but I kind of enjoy couch gaming. is it safe to assume they're not good for gaming on the couch?
Do you mean an arcade stick / fight stick?
They work just fine on the couch. The only genre they have a slight disadvantage in are fighters. But with practice even that disappears. 99% of tournament players that use sticks play with a stick in their lap instead of placing it on a table.
If you mean an actual arcade pad such as HORI Fighting Commander those work very well.
well son of a b***h, i just assumed they were meant to be on a desk or table.
i'll look into getting one. mostly for shmups but arcade games in general
>The only genre they have a slight disadvantage in are fighters
they are inferrior to dpads in everyway in every genre when it comes to performance. there is waaay more travel moving a stick than rolling a thumb on a dpad.
now I use arcade sticks to play arcade games because I'm not trying to be some kind of pro gamer homosexual. but there is no game in existence where you wont get faster reactions with a pad.

Gamest + Online Character Recognition + DeepL translation is the magic combo.
Thinking of removing the plexi from my arcade stick so I can have the LS-32 mounted exactly as it is supposed to be like that pic.
I got to 2-6 in Dodonpachi with a gamepad, don't need stick, and keyboards are good too.
DDP doesn't have waifus or weeb music instead it has rock music that will frick your ears, it's not reddit it's based
what do they say?
Excellent arcade records pdf but it is in Italian.

Wait, Wonder Boy is actually good?
How do I get into them? Anything must play that screams "this is a Taito game and couldn't be anything else"?
Darius series
Ray trilogy
Gun Frontier
Metal Black
Night Striker
Rastan Saga (I & III)
Elevator Action Returns
Psychic Force 2012
I want to make my own arcade pad.
What are the best buttons to use ?
It depends on what games you plan on playing and whether you value historical accuracy over convenience.
Convenience mostly.
I want to use it for all kinds of different games.
Then you will want to go with Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons. I prefer Seimitsu because of the more tactile feel.
This is kind of cool.
neat, too bad the cabinet design is pretty ugly
The slant on the control panel is the weakest point imo. Back in the day this was somehow considered ergonomic but it's the complete opposite.
