Yes, he was in the deepest part of the cave in GSC. In HGSS they extended the Mt. Silver dungeon to involve you climbing to the top, and put Red at the peak. It makes much more sense; you are two trainers who have reached the peak, both literally and metaphorically. There is nowhere else for you to go except against eachother.
I still regret child me cheesing these fight with a team of all legendaries at lvl 100 from my Action Replay. Even at the time I felt like I robbed myself
He is always travelling and coming to Mt. Silver to train. It was a coincidence that you met him there. He should go visit his mom sometime, though. Autistic butthole.
You'd be around 60-70s and that's good enough to fight him, he's supposed to be stronger than you. You never have to grind in pokemon games, by doing so you are just wasting your time and ruining the game for yourself.
Gen 2 stat experience made it pretty fair even if you were twenty levels lower. 4 is a bit more wonky as EVs won't give you nearly the stats to stand on equal footing unless you trained them specifically.
>Hey, Anon! I was looking forward to seeing you, Anon! Hahah, that is so great! My rival should be strong to keep me sharp. While working on my Pokédex, I looked all over for Pokémon. Not only that, I assembled teams that would beat any Pokémon type. And now… I am the Pokémon League Champion! Anon! Do you know what that means? I'll tell you. I am the most powerful Trainer in the world!"
Blaine is heavily implied to be one of the eggheads behind mewtwo and Surge is a war vet, a recent war veteran. Compared to pin up models and saccharine chronic head patters of today Kanto's gym leader lineup is pretty dark.
Ironically the first dark type big mofo is one of the most straightfoward and honest people in the series.
Gym leaders are semi feudal guardians of their cities. They help nurture young people so the community as a whole is strong enough to survive in the pokemon world since a random purple rat looking for scraps could overpower and kill your entire household.
The pokemon world is a death world and strength is the only virtue.
>I am the most powerful Trainer in the world! >that music starts playing
Sends shivers down my spine every time. No battle in any Pokémon game was better executed IMO, and I'm a zoomer.
Why was Pokémon music so fricking good in Gen 1 2 4? I don't even know how to describe it. It's just fricking hard core. Where's 3 5+ are Nick Jr like music. I think this is why old greens are seen so fondly
Yes, while it inherits some of the problems from the originals (level curve is still jank, no Dark types in Johto sans Umbreon) it adds a ton more without removing the charm of Johto itself. Since it's a Gen 4 game, it has the benefits of the Physical/Special split, so mons like Feraligatr and Gengar can actually take advantage of their types.
Larvitar doesn't count, it's not getting Dark type until well after the E4 unless you're grinding the hell out of it (although it's still good you can get it earlier). That just leaves Murkrow, and you can't get a Dusk Stone until after the E4 too, and as far as I recall Murkrow isn't all that good before evolving.
>hgss fixes the distribution
lol no. show me how to evolve misdreavus, catch houndour, or catch sneasel before the elite 4. also
hgss are fricking dogshit as are all motto games
>i defeated the boss who was intended to be fought at level 50 15 levels higher than i should be, therefore it was way easier than the developers intended
Wow.
Gen 5 haters are moronic as usual.
I will remember you Sinnoh trannies that the "x generation has a great soundtrack" trend on YouTube started with videos about Gen 5
Pokémon used to be really great up to get 5.
People barely talk about It but something I noticed player old pokémon games is that they used to have really cool dungeons in the form of caves. Mt. Coronet, Chargestone cave, exploring these was always wondrous, getting Nice TMs, New pokémon etc.
I miss these games, havent played a new one since Sun and Moon and I kind of miss how these past 2D games felt.
Leaving 2D topview was a big loss for the series, not only in charm but in the quality department as well..
Nah the cave dungeons fricking sucked because pokemon relied too much on moronic push puzzles or forced you to teach someone flash when that was a HM you couldn't forget
I enjoyed them. Somewhat confuaing and with mutiple optional floors. Stenght wasnt even that bad of an HM, It had good Power, with stab on a normal pokémon It worked just fine in battles.
Flash sucked but few of them has that as a requirement.
>Red's canon party is all handouts and the only pokemon he actually caught for himself was a Snorlax
It's kind of funny that they canonized him not giving a flying frick about Oak's task. Guy took the Pikachu and just killed everything in his path, probably only even bothering with Snorlax so he wouldn't have to put Strength on Charizard or Blastoise.
Boomers loved this moment so much they only play Pokemon games for the rest of their lives
HGSS is a zoomer game, though.
OGold and Silver also have the Red fight, but still in HGSS is better, putting the fight in the peak of Mt. Silver was good choice
pokemon games are peak jrpgs with cool designes. Palworld trannies are seething and will never reach this level of sovl
Wasn't he in a cave in the original? Did they change it for the remake or am I misremembering?

looks like trees to me
he was, guessing they felt like it was symbolic that you fought the zenith of the pokemon world at the zenith of the pokemon world or something.
I still regret child me cheesing these fight with a team of all legendaries at lvl 100 from my Action Replay. Even at the time I felt like I robbed myself
Going blind into this was indeed the greatest moment in the entire franchise.
What does he eat?
He is always travelling and coming to Mt. Silver to train. It was a coincidence that you met him there. He should go visit his mom sometime, though. Autistic butthole.
He milks his pikachu for sustenance
Geodude are like a Living Jar on the inside.
>level 80s battle
>wild pokemon don't even reach 50s
who were you meant to train for this guy with
His level 80 is a Pikachu lmao
that Pikachu is pretty terrifying with the Light Ball
I remember 1hko'ing his Pikachu when I was a kid, I was hella disappointed
>WAAAAAH I NEED TO BE THE SAME LEVEL AS AN RPG SUPERBOSS OTHERWISE IT'S LITERALLY BROKEN
Frick off zoomer.
Zoomer game.
yeah you can cheese it with legendaries and x items but if you want a good old fashioned slap fight no dice
>Superboss
???????????????????????
>Sends out tyranitar that tail slaps that fricking pikachu through 6 walls
in HGSS you can grind on the upgraded E4 and gym leader rematches, Lance and Blue are only a bit below Red
You'd be around 60-70s and that's good enough to fight him, he's supposed to be stronger than you. You never have to grind in pokemon games, by doing so you are just wasting your time and ruining the game for yourself.
The difference in power between a level 1 and a level 20 is a huge gap compared to a level 60 vs level 80
Gen 2 stat experience made it pretty fair even if you were twenty levels lower. 4 is a bit more wonky as EVs won't give you nearly the stats to stand on equal footing unless you trained them specifically.
you can beat him with level 60s easily
you don't need to. set up on the pikachu and sweep his ass
>Hey, Anon! I was looking forward to seeing you, Anon! Hahah, that is so great! My rival should be strong to keep me sharp. While working on my Pokédex, I looked all over for Pokémon. Even more epic
Man, I can never hate Gen 1 music.
>all those dubious if not outright evil motherfrickers moonlighting as judges in a children's wienerfighting event
What the frick is Kanto's problem?
With the exception of MAYBE Sabrina and Koga and obviously Giovanni, who else would be dubious?
Blaine is heavily implied to be one of the eggheads behind mewtwo and Surge is a war vet, a recent war veteran. Compared to pin up models and saccharine chronic head patters of today Kanto's gym leader lineup is pretty dark.
Ironically the first dark type big mofo is one of the most straightfoward and honest people in the series.
>of today
you say that like Johto wasn't also toned down considerably in that regard, the worst is that Clair is a b***h
The murican with Raichu.
He's actually Team Rocket on the manga.
Only manga and anime Sabrina are evil.
Game Sabrina is a nice girl
Gym leaders are semi feudal guardians of their cities. They help nurture young people so the community as a whole is strong enough to survive in the pokemon world since a random purple rat looking for scraps could overpower and kill your entire household.
The pokemon world is a death world and strength is the only virtue.
I like your headcanon, anon. Very nice.
Blame the pokemon association for letting mobsters rule the roost.
>I am the most powerful Trainer in the world!
>that music starts playing
Sends shivers down my spine every time. No battle in any Pokémon game was better executed IMO, and I'm a zoomer.
the actual goat final boss theme. i get shivers every time i hear this one
Still one of the earliest memories of gaming I have as like a 7 year old on Silver's release.
Why was Pokémon music so fricking good in Gen 1 2 4? I don't even know how to describe it. It's just fricking hard core. Where's 3 5+ are Nick Jr like music. I think this is why old greens are seen so fondly
RBY GSC is edgy try hard music and DPPt abuses bass
>DPPt abuses bass
Good.
The fact this was just a random route is crazy for the quality of dppt music.
Gen v had good town songs, otherwise it was gay.
you're gay
for me, it's the snow routes
>you'll never be a teenager again posting about urban legends and falling for fakes on pokemon forums as DP just came out
It really does but it's kino and feels very powerful / end game https://youtu.be/I_57ptO3TKc?si=w1NrrTcRzdyCd4Zl
Close but actually the best music in the series is from Gen 5.
No one cares moronic zoomer
Go listen to your atrocious hp song
>your atrocious hp song
Meanwhile a hardcore hp song:
can't hear your b***hing over the greatest enemy team theme of all time
That's just random noise, like most Gen 5 music
it very clearly has a recognizable melody
>like most Gen 5 music
gen 5 has great music what the frick are you smoking?
Wrong.
It's fricking awful besides that ice town
This. morons only seething because it's Gen 5 and Gen 5 is "le bad".
Gen 5 is bad. Gens I - IV (The Golden Era) is real Pokémon. Pokémon both peaked and died with HGSS.
>t. zoomer
>>t. zoomer
Explains everything.
the peak of Pokemon was from Platinum to BW2
>Why was Pokémon music so fricking good
Crunchy Game Boy sound card.
I thought I was fighting Ash
Unironically
are heartgold and soulsilver good games?
Yes, while it inherits some of the problems from the originals (level curve is still jank, no Dark types in Johto sans Umbreon) it adds a ton more without removing the charm of Johto itself. Since it's a Gen 4 game, it has the benefits of the Physical/Special split, so mons like Feraligatr and Gengar can actually take advantage of their types.
>no Dark types in Johto sans Umbreon
Why the frick do you lie? HGSS actually fixes the Pokémon distribution.
Bro thats a singular dark type. Lavitar is at the final level
>murkrow
>larvitar (evolves into a dark-type)
>houndour
>umbreon
That's 4 Dark-types. Only one (Sneasel) is exclusive to the post-game.
you can't get Houndour in the Safari Zone until post-E4 either
Wrong.
>need blocks to get Houndour to spawn
>blocks unlock after you get the National Dex
???
Wrong.
>Murkrow
Yep fine fair enough
>Larvitar
Post game
>Houndour
In KANTOOOOOOOOO
>Umbreon
Fine.
2 dark types, only one of those in the wild in Johto. Not a great choice
Excuse me
>no Dark types in Johto sans Umbreon UNLESS you do the Safari Zone that was added in
Steelix my beloved...
why don't we have a steel move that uses defense instead of attack for damage anyways?
Because GF will never do what Konami did.
Larvitar doesn't count, it's not getting Dark type until well after the E4 unless you're grinding the hell out of it (although it's still good you can get it earlier). I wish the battle was actually hard, I defeated Red multiple times with 5 pokemons at level 65
>i defeated the boss who was intended to be fought at level 50 15 levels higher than i should be, therefore it was way easier than the developers intended
Wow.
frick yeah OP
holy fukken shit
confy
To this day I wish there was a way to past my Pokemon Red save to Pokemon Silver save and fight Red having my original pokemon team.
You can, it's called ROM hacking.
Gen 5 haters are moronic as usual.
I will remember you Sinnoh trannies that the "x generation has a great soundtrack" trend on YouTube started with videos about Gen 5
%3D
KINO KINO KINO

I always liked Nimbasa personally
For me, it's Lacunosa Town:
Pokemon lost
Palword won
Tend¡es should die
who?
Don't pretend you don't know palworld pathetic zoomer trash, pokemon is dead
sorry what's a "palworld"
I like both Palworld and Pokemon (Gen I-V)
>dodging word filters to talk about two shits
gen alpha sperms need not apply
Pokémon used to be really great up to get 5.

you have to be an obese mutt Black person lover to like gen 5. no one else could like such shitty games
I like the original is better.
I remember finding this by accident playing as a kid and I got my ass beat, it was soooo cool.
For me its: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0WIfgKM6OU
Lavender Town ghost theme is pure kino
Zoomer homosexuals
Careful grandpa don't seethe too hard lest your dentures fall out.
Gold and Silver are 25 years old
Doesnt change the fact theres a homosexual saying "i randomly found red"
what exactly is the problem with that statement
you weren't a homosexualy little guide user as a kid, were you?
Fricking soul.
SHIVERS
kino of the highest order
>Red's canon party is all handouts and the only pokemon he actually caught for himself was a Snorlax

I hate how HGSS forces you to use an HM slave to get to Red. At least in the original, you don't have to use Flash if you memorize the map
