i don't think you know what indie means, it's just independent of publishers, anon.
look i play indies too but you know what im talking about. most of them are copied from other games and suited in stuff i mentioned before
indies have become too broad with all the development tools and engines and shit available now. the old pixel art indie was a particular type of fad that isn't universal anymore and hasn't been for quite a while.

what's wrong with indies? it's really easy to make games now and you don't even need a publisher because of steam. the future is interesting.

What I mean is, there was a period where cornrows were fricking everywhere. If you had a black character in a videogame and you had hair options, cornrows was one of them. This persisted for a long time despite the fact that I haven't seen someone with them irl in like a decade. The modern equivalent is the fricking Killmonger haircut in everything now, except at least people irl actually had cornrows, NO ONE in the real world has that haircut.

There are way stupider haircuts out there, we just forget about them over time. Remember the Skrillex "fade on one side, long hair on the other" look? My brother unironically had that for a while and yes it looks just as stupid up close as it does in images.
