He's the easiest character to save. Just get him bit and he'll survive to the end, won't even kill anyone if he turns.

Travis and Dylan are the only two people that aren't complete turbo-morons.

no he's just not written like a stereotypical gay like in most games now where they shove in a gay character for the sake of having a gay character with pride flags, rainbow shirts, and a lisp.

      he's just a normal dude

Jacob, Emma, Abigail, Max, and Nick did frickall in this game. What were they good for other than getting other people killed?

Jacob is the reason they're stuck there to begin with, Emma made the island unsafe, Abi can at least give Kaitlyn a silver shell in the finale, Max is a werewolf all game, and Nick is turned before he can do much.

    >choices don't matter
    >have to rewatch unskippable 8-hour movie to see they really don't matter
Great "game", but I don't see the appeal considering you quite literally get a better experience in youtube where at least you can skip and speed up.

Do they really not matter? I haven't played or watched this game all the way through but it seems like there are a lot of choices you can make that have a pretty good effect on the later story. Like can't the cop either be on your side or against you based on how you act? And it seems like a lot of earlier choices can either give you more or less methods to kill or save the main characters.

Some choices will be made regardless. Jacob always sabotages the car, Emma, always sets Max free and kisses Nick, causing the group to split, Laura always kills Kaylee, etc. Sometimes, small actions change details later on in ways you don't expect.

Characters can die if you make the wrong choice, but the story is pretty much the same always. The ending just tells you who died and who lived. It doesn't matter if the cop is on your side or not, at best you get a message that says "he trusts you". You always visit the same places, same scenes. The "choices" may change a dialog line or two if you're lucky.

Sure, but I can understand major details like that being generally set in stone. At least with Jacob fricking up the car, since otherwise there would be no story. But I do think it's neat that even decisions like how he sabotages the car can open up new possibilities for deaths/clues/etc.
Kinda is lame that they couldn't write some alternative to the truth-or-dare thing though. There are a million other ways they could have had the group split up at the beginning like that. And like I said I haven't checked out the full game so I'm not sure just how railroady it gets. I do think just from what I've seen it's a huge, huge improvement over Until Dawn.
I don't know why devs keep trying to make these games with "branching plotlines" when it's all but impossible without an unlimited budget or using really basic game assets. Maybe we'll get there someday
