I hate it.
It happens so fucking often.
I would say a quarter of my library is games that I thought would be good because friends said it would be good then we play it for a few days and then be done.
I will say that some games do push past my expectations like that Valheim game. I rather enjoyed it coming into it thinking it would be shit.
>you were busy that weekend
My bros are essentially the only reason I buy most modern vidya anymore. I'm already pretty stingy with money so when I blow 60 dollars on a game I was only interested in for social reasons only to almost never touch it again is a massive letdown.
>having friends
Sometimes i forget that people here are actually like this and not in on the "lol Ganker degen" joke. Im sorry for your existence
Go back normalfag.
ive never had friends in my 28 years of life
wanna be my fren then?
no
gay dude here, if ur also gay or u like to blaze it add me if ur on xbox: SM0KEDoutDAILY (the O in smoked is a 0)
>(the O in smoked is a 0)
that's rad as fuck
fag
don't encourage him
based
This is nothing new.
>ive never had friends in my 28 years of life
Perhaps you could start not being insufferable to be around?
ironic you're being insufferable to a person you dont even know
That's hypocritical coincidence, not irony.
ironic
I used to have friends but we all slowly drifted apart over the years with work and other things. Now I literally have no friends and dont even have anyone at work that i talk to. Sometimes when i come home and talk to myself it feels weird hearing my voice.
I think we're living in a unique time where this is something that is happening to a lot of people, it's very fucked up. I guess our technology has enabled us to retreat into our shells far too much.
Yeah, thats the only reason I still come to this place at 41 years of age. It's the only interaction and conversation I get nowdays.
Christ, 41... I'm only 25, and I have a hard time finding people already. I've tried with some normies, but fuck me, they're either boring or just hard to talk to. Or they don't try to initiate, or they're skittish/don't actually care.
>Or they don't try to initiate, or they're skittish/don't actually care.
Absolutely. In no way have I ever been socially awkward. For years I used to have a big group of friends who would meet at a particular bar every Thursday and do karaoke. Just seems people nowdays are more comfortable with online interaction and bit more self absorbed.
I only have one and he plays Dead By Daylight once in a blue moon, I'm not even into the game but playing with him is all the social life I got.
You were that kid who sat in the stairwell during lunch I bet.
For me it was leaving the school grounds and going on walks by myself around the surrounding neighborhood while listening to anime music on my mp3 player
We couldn't couldn't leave. I was always in the back of the library or in the stairwell no used during lunch. It was lonely and comfy tbh.
Thats me but you fucks keep going back to fucking dota instead of trying new games.
I have to tell people "no please don't buy me that game" because they'll play it with me for 2 hours and then 100 hrs on their own and wonder why I'm so far behind them. I don't need to feel guilty that I didn't play a video game as much as my unemployed counterparts.
This. I have a disabled friend who's also an insomniac, but it's impossible to play with him though because he'll be up for like a week & a half straight at a time gaming while i've got to sleep & go to work.
my friend is also disabled with no sleep schedule. that's hilarious.
I bet you are the same gays that want an easy mode in Souls like game so you won't have "part time job" instead of grinding, and getting better at the game
I don't mind games that take time, but when for example, my friend and i roll characters in the latest FOTM MMO or whatever, he'll be levelcapped way before i am so I'm basically stuck playing by myself anyway, so it defeats the point of him gifting me a game to play with him or vice versa.
I'm seething reading this. Shoutout to all retards who invite others to play a MMO """together""" and then refuse to make a new character and
-carry and backseat game so hard that the game becomes unfun
-not play together at all but let you level completely alone while they grind dungeons or do dailies
-then shit themself when you leave the optimal leveling path in a desperate attempt to have fun
no, I just want to play WITH my friends and not a couple hours out of a 100hr playthrough with zero chance of keeping in line with each other. I have loads of games with 1000+ hrs in them but I don't expect someone to jump in with me and enjoy themselves at any given moment.
Elden Ring was bad for this because my friends would beeline for "their" weapons/gear when we played together and "level up a little" when we weren't.
>I have loads of games with 1000+ hrs in them
jesus christ anon, which ones?
a few:
SC/BW, easily, even though there's no way of truly knowing for sure
Rimworld
Factorio
both Civ 2 and 5 (with 400hrs into 6 so far)
No Man's Sky
Ah that's fair enough, I was expecting you to say a few MMOs but those are far better choices and I do like all of those games a lot. Sadly No Man's Sky has lost it's allure for me about 150 hours in, but they have updated the shit out of it so it might be time for a revisit.
NMS is one of those games where I sink 6 hours into it and think "god damn it, again?"
I think 200 of those hours are failing to beat the game on hardcore mode
>get hit by an animal that sneaks up on me
>flee
>it hits me again, into a plant
>I'm rocketed up into the air
>dead to fall damage
>15 hours wasted
Since your busy a lot, you mean those 1000's of hours are mostly if not entirely while playing single player?
I ask because I'd like to get Factorio , but have heard it's only good with friends. If single player is just as good then I wanna give it a try.
>but have heard it's only good with friends
Sounds like the absolute worst way to play it if you ask me, the fun of it is coming up with solutions to solve problems and making your own factory/refactoring it/creating your own eldritch abomination. Doing that with people only ends up resulting in a bit of a clash unless you're content to have one person lead the architecture.
I'd rather souls games didn't exist at all lmao
You're the gay who cant manage his time.
Instead of planning out your day, you spend hours every day just idling between things.
As a result you never "have time" to do shit. One of my friends is like that and now he is actively being pushed out of our group games.
in what universe do you live that your unemployed friends are buying games for you
Not thatt anon, but they could have other sources of income like disability while living with others who take care of the bills.
Core Keeper
your discord friends are not real friends
t. has no "real" friends or discord friends
but i went to high school with them and had to move away
You're literally supposed to use discord with your RL gamer friends you've known since highschool/college
>friend group plays videk games together without you without inviting you
>actual zoomer conversation
Fucking embarrassing. Failed normalfags are the worst, especially underage failed normalfags.
Thanks, the worst experience of my life was getting invited to a movie by a girl I like and me giving her THE WRONG PHONE NUMBER by accident.
She was so pissed off at me, I could tell
The only reasonable reaction is to burn down his house.
DO IT
>Getting shoved out in favor of a friend's girl
Expose everyone's darkest secrets that alter their lives forever, then fuck their moms and leave
that day anon learned those people were not his friends
>has my name in it
This is extremely bizarre as I've also been in a similar situation not once, but twice. I genuinely hope things get better for you, anon. I've been without social circles for about 10 months now. It can suck sometimes, but it feels better without having to deal with other's bullshit. It's just been hard finding another since I'm almost done college, have no time for clubs, and everyone in my major is a huge ass normie.
You don't have a friend group anymore, retard
Why does this bit seem so bad?
Is it because it's ungrateful? Or an attempt to be like "we don't owe you anything".
Trying to weasel out of guilt
>Or an attempt to be like "we don't owe you anything".
Definitely this. He's making it sound like "you didn't have to do this for us, it's your fault that you burned $20 on us." Dude really sounds like he's trying to push OP out of whatever group he's in.
Nah the opposite. He’s trying to maintain the friendship connection because he’s not willing to commit to the fact that he’s chosen the other group (rest of the group) over the OP.
He ditched OP and stood him up on his birthday, but he’s still saying he wants to come hang out the next day. So he’s fence sitting and trying to pretend he’s still a good guy.
It's part of shifting the blame, basically you can read the whole thing as
>it's your fault I didn't remember the date and it's your own fault you prepared for it, you should have guessed I wouldn't be there
normalmorons are fucking sociopaths all
fake as fuck
This. Some reason zoomers can't see through this shit. Like all those tiktok 'social experiment' videos.
Fuck those guys, you sound like you’re friends with assholes
Once your friend gets a girlfriend it's all going downhill.
this is it. my best friend got his first ever girlfriend and now he ignores everyone to talk to her, and to hang out with her and her friends that he doesn't even like.
>95°C
Do americans really
I've had "friends" like that. Drop them like a hot potato; they're entirely worthless people that cause misery wherever they go without a hint of self awareness.
Most friend groups even for normies are ephemeral, people you've known for years, maybe you grew up with either drift away or drop you like this. Might have been some underlying issue here we're not seeing, guy might have been the group punching bag nobody respects, or Don here might have hated his fucking guts and got everyone to go behind his back knowing it was his birthday.
it seems to be a lower IQ exclusive thing. all my life-long friends are high IQ people. my transient relationships were all normies. i think the obvious reason is that normies are too intellectually dull or cowardly to tactfully express or work out problems they might be having in their interpersonal relationships; same reason why infidelity and violence become more common the lower in social caste/intelligence you go.
the sad part is he definitely saw the texts and just thought explaining afterwards would be easier
Buying the snacks when they didn't respond was foolish. But seeing him make every excuse under the sun while also trying to shift he blame off himself should be an instadelete, anon. That's no friend, especially when he tried to shift your seat for a woman.
Should've bought better snacks than shit from the dollar store. Nobody likes cheap shitty candy.
I fucking love DOTS but they stick to my teeth I eat em anyway
or I used to before I lowered my sugar intake and started taking better care of my teeth. I miss dots.
DOTS are unironically my favorite candy
not paying $5 for snow caps, simple ass
These "friends" are subhuman.
No love and no respect.
>he got saved from watching Thor Ragnarok
Those friends are the REAL heroes.
Ragnarok was alright. Love and Thunder was this year and that was dogshit.
No, I'm the one who messed up, he got saved from watching Love and Thunder. See the date of the messages, 2022 means they were gonna watch Love ans Thunder. Those are REAL friends.
Just have the GF sit in the bf’s lap or something - fuck we fit like 7 people in one car during HS.
Anon if this actually happened to you I'm sorry to hear that. I will say the other guy does seem to have some interest in maintaining a friendship (the fact that he even bothers with excuses, offering to hangout) so I wouldn't throw him out entirely. But I would definitely try to find a new main group in the meantime and stick to only occasional hangouts with that guy.
>friend wants to play a progression heavy game with you that has base building
>he has a pimped out base full of rare materials so you don't get the feeling of getting progressively stronger
>the combat isn't good enough to sustain the game when you are just gifted end game items
I am never playing any multiplayer game with crafting ever again.
it's the fucking worst
>come play factorio with me
sounds good
>oh and my online friends
FUCK
>it's a 100 hr save
>They have an incredibly tight and specific layout that I don't know fuck-all about
>make a tiny sattelite base in the distance just for something to do
>the next day I play again and they razed all my shit because it was pollution and causing biters to evolve
all vanilla, too. fucking autists corrupting one of my few remaining friends
HOW THE FUCK can anyone have a 100 hour save and not have the mexicans at 99% evolution?
I think that was their autistic plan and I fucked it up. They were pretty unclear about it when asking me to play but really fucking short with me about the pollution I created. I really hate playing with that group of people 90% of the time
Oh god I forgot about that part of it too.
>try and add anything to the base to feel like you're contributing and to have a small section that's yours.
>host gets annoyed because it's not his vision
Autism is a scourge
The only time this has worked out was when a friend showed me his no man's sky base and said "now change it for me, it's boring and symmetrical and stupid to look at" so we spent 4 hours making it look as idiotic as possible / unlocking more building parts for me to do so
That's a good friend
Me and my friends like to assign roles for this very reason. I'm the train guy and no matter how inefficient my system is I'm the train guy and my say is final. We were just playing Pulsar: Lost Colony and my friend would defer to me for shit that goes with my assigned role. I also make a habit of comgratulating my friends whenever they make a good play in competitive games too. It feels good to be cheery and support your bros.
Let me guess, Conan Exiles?
Correct, also Terraria.
I then immediately stopped playing V Rising once I saw how involved the base building was. I think I've been soured on the entire genre at this point. I haven't even tried these games solo since I had the most inane and boring times with friends.
some of the most fun ive had with friends is on base building survival garbage like 7 days to die and ark
yes, when you are all starting at the same time and don't play a bunch without one another
Fallout 76.
>you and a friend play at the same time
>level and gear up equally
>game erases all your shit anyways
i never played it but I watched a coworker become a living embodiment of buyer's remorse over the course of a couple weeks
Its a painful experience.
just get friends that actually want to do stuf fwith you instead of teleporting you to endgame. that's how i had fun with valheim
Sorry Timi
One of my friends plays games to the point where I genuinely no longer find videogames fun when we play together. Everything has to be efficient, or on the hardest difficulty or done "properly", whereas my other friend is far more fun to play with but we'll maybe only play a game once or twice and usually we'll just shit around. I much prefer playing on my own these days.
this, my friend always wants to play League TFT and he's fucking INSUFFERABLE, I do not fucking care what combo is super meta and effective right now, most of the time I reach place 3 anyway by just fucking around, but he keeps switching on my board to tell me "NEED MORE TANKS", "PUT ITEM ON THAT CHAMP" and so on and it never stops. He's fucking minmaxing every goddamn game, because he's a "former" WoW addict who read wikis all day long.
>playing vidya alone
boy i wish i was playing something with a friend right now
>playing vidya with a friend
man i'd rather be playing something alone
This happened to me with vermintide 2.
Half a year later they tried to talk me into playing Dota 2. Then it was escape from tarkov.
I've played Ghost Recon wildlands and breakpoint both for about 3 hours each.
Do you know what it's like dealing with ubisoft's bullshit on my machine just for a piddling few hours?
Absolutely not.
I refuse to touch "live services" like that after using games for windows live.
Never again.
It's video games, anon. Some of you expect people will sign up for lifelong commitments.
>Playing elden ring with a friend
>Managed to cheese Malenia on a low level character
>Mentioned this
>He got asshurt enough to stop playing
I dont have a single friend I play games with. I only play single player and anytime I do choose to play multiplayer I get blackout drunk
>when you and a friend both want a game and both play it and both hate it but are still so desperate to like it
I think me and my one friend have attempted to enjoy starbound over a dozen times
It happened so many times i don't play with them anymore. If they want to play with me, they'll have to join the game i am already playing
>have "friends"
>they never go along with the game you suggest
>a week later
>one of them suggests the same game to the group
>everyone agrees
>suggest fun game to friends
>they don't care/it's forgotten
>popular twitch streamer plays it a month later
>"have you guys heard of this game! we should all get it!"
>"yeah!"
I hate this so much, my friend is the chillest and most wholesome person ever but has the most sheep like behavior when it comes to e-celebs.
Was one game I asked if he wanted to play and try and he was all like "nah not my type of game" Then some popular e-celeb tried it and he instantly wanted to try it out.
Also keeps buying all the shitty gaming shit like mice and chairs even if they break down all the time, because e-celebs shill them.
>Suggest cool weapon/build/character/strat for GAME.
>Friends disregard it cuz META gay says it stinks.
>META gay gushes over the thing you suggested 6 months later.
>BRO, have you checked out THING.
>be me
>buy cool game
>perfect to play with friends
>suggests it to friends
>they say no it looks stupid
>oh well
>put in enough hours playing solo/public games
>stop playing because it got stale
>friend buys the game a year later
>praises how good it is
>wont stop posting memes about it for a month or two
this happened twice
happens all the time. people are retarded and don't know how to take suggestions or know how to say "that does look good, I'm just not feeling it right now".
>don't know how to take suggestions
or the turboautists of Ganker aren't the best at getting a point across? Or maybe they recommend so much dumb shit that no one takes them seriously anymore.
Or maybe they have a 1/100 hit rate.
Every Ganker poster is the hero of their own story.
Like look at this guy:
Who the fuck would want to be friends with a person like this?
>be me
Who else are you going to be you fucking gay.
They are telling you to put yourself in their shoes retard
>be ((You))
>be gay
glad i'll never experience this myself
Same. I feel bad for this guy
Should stop being a fucking fag.
Happened to me and DRG. I said the game was good and my friends wanted to play normalfag garbage like Rust. A year later they hop on and won't shut the fuck up about it even though it got stale a long time ago. Fuck these slow morons. And fuck twitch streamers that make all my niche games(good) popular(bad).
I'm trying to shill Deep rock galactic now. It feels different because it's still good without friends. I hope they like it though
Every friend besides one has turned into creatures that say things like "What's the point in playing without a battlepass or at least levelups?"
The worst part? We're not zoomzooms, we're all born in 1991 or 1992
Is that a picture of you? LOL
No, it's me. I'd appreciate if you didn't fully capitalise your laughing out loud acronym by the way, it's a little rude. I'm an accomplished developer.
Sorry.
I'm a coder myself, I know about the "if" function.
good morning, fellow sir
Its yandev you newfags
Who?
If that's a picture of him,he looks like he was born in 1975 at least. That ain't young looking.
>what's the point of playing something without pointless grinding?
I fucking hate this mindset.
Then I point out skill based stuff like Hi-fi rush or DMC5 bloody palace multiplayer and they all go full cope.
I want to believe DRG is a good game, but I'm burnt out on RNG weapon co-op games because of vermintide 2. Sell me on it.
>but I'm burnt out on RNG weapon co-op games
that's not really what the game is unless you end up doing the elite deep dives and shit for the best overclocks but that's the least fun part of the game for me. it's just a fun time with 4 dwarves going on a fucking adventure, with each of the classes being designed to assist one another in a very satisfying way
It might seem similar to Vermintide or L4D or whatever but they're nothing alike. There are a lot of different mission types and half of the fun for me has been figuring out what to do. I don't even care if my friends don't end up buying it because it's great alone or with randoms
As someone who disliked VT2's gear progression, DRG's is much better imo. Once your character reaches certain levels you'll receive assignments unlock new weapons. Once a weapon is unlocked it can be further enhanced with skill tree upgrades specific to that weapon using resources found in missions.
There aren't any random weapon rarity drops with extra effects attached. As
said the only rng aspect of the game is overclocks for weapons (they either provide small buffs to a weapon or change the way it works more drastically with a downside and only one can be equipped per weapon at a time)which can be grindy to get the ones you want, but they aren't necessary to do harder content, they just add to build variety.
Overall the community of DRG is nicer too, they'll usually be more willing to help out a newer player who asks for it.
>play Wow with step brother
>start new characters
>he experienced with other high level characters, this is my first time
>play together for a while and have a good time
>log in one day
>step brothers level is vastly above mine because he's kept playing while I wasn't around
>wants me to level on my own to catch up
>do this, not very fun but after a lot of grinding I catch up
>play a little together
>log in next day
>step brother is vastly ahead again
>just catch up
>try to grind, not having a very good time
>can't quite get to his level but I am close
>log in next day
>step brothers character is now even further away in level from mine
>just roam the world not doing much
>log in next day
>step brothers character is even further ahead
>begin looking for rare mounts and shit so I'll at least have something to do while playing
>after a long time of playing I am finally at the max level and the same level as my brother
>he's been playing a shitton of pvp and raids and shit so there's no point in playing together because even though we're the same level my character is weak as fuck compared to his
>new expansion comes out
>5 more extra levels on top of max level
>quit
Why can't autists have the foresight to just make a second character to play by themselves and save a character just to level with bros.
You answered your own question three words in.
Unironically, you guys should play FF14 together.
It’s hard to explain to WoW players because it upends the entire way they’ve interacted with their games, but there is zero gear treadmill.
Whether your step-brother is higher level than you, or better geared than you, you can still run leveling and 5/60/70/80 instances with about the same effectiveness. And even if he hits 90 before you, you can get equivalent gear in just a few minutes.
Every mid-tier gear upgrade exists only to make the current tier slightly easier, and is made immediately irrelevant by the next tier. So you’re never gearing up or getting better gear for the next upcoming content, you just get the gear for that content when it drops.
Basically: You’ll always be able to play with your step-brother even if he goes ahead of you.
>friend talks entire group into buying a game
>everyone plays it for 3 hours
>he leaves in the first hour and refunds it
All my friends convinced me to buy Overwatch for the multiplayer. They proceeded to play my copy with me at my place, and never got it themselves.
Thems was good times.
why is there no good porn of this skin i got glove fetish and the gloves are so hot but nobody makes good porn of this skin :~~*(
Every fucking time.
At this point I won't buy a game unless I'm sure I enjoy it enough to play on my own after the FOTM wears off.
I've started being a retarded fucking autist about this stuff and say "maybe" if someone's shilling something.
But really I'm waiting to see if
>they're still playing it at least 1 week later
>they put more than 6 hours into it
It actually works.
TF2 is my most played game with over 6k hours and a friend bought it for me back in 2011, because a bunch of us got together and played it on lan
>back in 2011
shit medal
>talk a friend into buying a game
>he didn't enjoy it
I still feel kinda bad about it
>spend hours troubleshooting a minecraft server I have running for me and a friend
>finally get it to work
>we play together once and he hasn't logged on since
It was him who suggested playing too, I don't know why I bother with this shithead sometimes
I had this exact same experience last summer. I even dedicated a laptop I rarely use to keep the server running all day and even made an easy to follow tutorial on adding the right mods. Even after inviting a number of people, nobody bothered to play more than 30 minutes of it despite bugging me to make a server.
>friends still play COD:whatever
I don't care, I hated that game, it was repetitive as fuck on the same map every time.
>friend talks the entire group into buying a game
>he's the only one that didn't buy it
Devilish, having you all bond over it while he watches from afar.
>Try to get friends to play FF14 with me
>"No, bro, you'll just stop playing."
>This was when 2.0 launched
>I'm still fucking playing
>Haven't been unsubbed once
>"You'll drop it any day now."
>friends get me to play ror2
>play it once or twice and never again
>one of them 100% the achievements and they both played without me for months
I guess half the reason was because it kinda sucked but still
ROR2 takes a special kind of autism to appreciate. easily one of the best feeling indie games to play but you'd better be fucking ready to die a lot in the beginning
Kinda in the same boat.
I think it's how the items work, where for 90% non-lunar items you don't change how you play. I'm not a huge fan of stuff like Isaac either but at least items typically have a more tangible effect.
Honestly I wish it was just a purely skill based horde shooter or something in that vein because the characters gameplay is fun.
>talk the entire group into playing comfy minecraft for a change
>1,5 months later
>everyone is still obsessing over minecraft
>don't even really feel like playing minecraft anymore but keep getting pulled back in every single night by obsessed group
>be fightan lover for over 10 years
>not pro level good but can hold my own in a good lot of games
>occasionally me and some others would play together, but notice I've never been asked to play
>always had to ask myself or just come across them playing it on discord and hop in a call
>one day in particular I notice why
>i generally win pretty often and the others get all heated or upset about it
>even in games I never played before or hardly touched I'm pretty consistent in blowing them up
>try to suggest some tips or videos to look at to improve, or some sessions I can do with them
>they never bother with it
>i even point out down the line that no one ever asks me to play shit because they're worried they'll get their asses beat
>no one denies it
>eventually just get tired of it and go
Fucking rotten bastards. They're worse than normies who at least play it for fun without worrying about being good. Those fucks all played it just to feel good about themselves and never wanted to improve. Even when I just did wacky shit because I stopped taking them seriously, they lost often. Haven't touched a fighter since, since I have no one to play them with.
Anon I love getting my ass beat (no homo). I'm also that guy who wants friends to play fighting games but they don't want to learn, and they always use the stupid excuse of "oh we can't just play fighting games and chill and have fun and I don't want to have to learn for 30 hours blah blah blah" when they quite literally button mash and get upset it doesn't work, then they put 300 hours learning the ins and outs of whatever competitive shooter fotm is
In my case, this was the people I played with.
>One guy who played fighters early as a kid, and knew some of the stuff, but he acted like hot shit. Would always shit talk you if you were losing and during the match but get immediately heated and insult you if you win against him often.
>His childhood friend who just followed his lead, pretty much subtly doesn't like fighters at his core because 'it requires too much time' or something to that effect. Notorious for always getting beat even after putting time in and watching videos and bragging about using technical characters.
>The asskisser of the shit talker who pretty much does the same thing as the shit talker, but leans more towards characters with OP gimmicks or whatever's top tier at the time. Would absolutely cheese and press the "I Win" button if the game had one.
>One who got into them around 2016, liked SF5 due to stockholm syndrome. A total autist and weeb, drifted more towards whatever anime games and whatever Ganker deemed as good fighters. Always played like a gorilla, always wanted to use more technical characters but never bothered to adapt his playstyle or learn how to use them more effectively. Extremely sensitive and will be the first to call it quits early if he's on a losing streak.
>Wannabe edgelord who just mashes the fuck out of everything and pretty much just plays casually, all things considered. The least offensive one, but also the most noncommittal.
shooters are just more fun to learn than fightans
>Playing fighting games against someone who’s much better than you isn’t much fun
>Getting better involves grinding and sitting the game you just want to play casually
>Obvious solution is to just not play with the person who’s making it un-fun
You can be upset all you like, but whining “Why don’t they just dedicate their free time specifically to improving at this!” when they can just play without you and have as much fun is retarded.
Your friends did nothing wrong and you come across like the guy who brings a T1 deck to Friday Night Magic or Commander and then says everyone else should just get better ones.
You are the exact problem here. No one's saying you have to grind it alone, you dumbfuck. If your brain is so addled that you want to be gratified with a sloppy win, be my guest man. Go hit those beginner lobbies and mash your way to victory if it really makes you feel better at night. Make a smurf account if you need to!
But if it comes to a point where someone WANTS to help you get better, and you say no, and STILL get upset that you're losing, it is entirely your fault. I don't feel the least damn bit sorry about it. Ain't my fault they sucked and never listened. I got my ass handed to me in ranked lobbies and general lobbies a lot, so obviously I'm not unbeatable. There's a difference between wanting to have fun and just wanting to stroke your ego.
I fucking hate fighting morons like you so much, you act like everyone likes and find it fun to autistically learn a fighting game like that, most people find fighting games to become really shitty and unfun to play once you reach that point and you expecting you friends to HAVE to like doing that shit is just beyond retarded.
I don't even learn it autistically like that. I just happen to know combos and some of the mechanics on a better level. Like I said, I'm no damn pro. Why would you not get a fighting game if not to become better at them to a fault because you like the game? Throwing a tantrum because a jackass keeps one upping you isn't the answer.
>Why would you not get a fighting game if not to become better at them to a fault because you like the game? Throwing a tantrum because a jackass keeps one upping you isn't the answer.
To play it casually like everyone used to do back in the days
This still IS casual, you lazy idiot. There's a difference between knowing the mechanics and how to play the game versus just pressing buttons and having a vague idea of what to do.
No, because it's a party game at its core. I like Smash too, I think it's a fun game. And I'm not discrediting the competitive scene either.
I bet you’re absolutely baffled at the continuing success of Smash, huh?
>gay starts humblebragging
fuck off moron
some people just want to play a game casually and not have to sweat learning with an unsufferable gay so he can stroke his ego after smashing his shitter friends
You got your ass handed to you by a newbie didn't you?
I don't play fighting games
>Starts backpedaling after already admitting he spends time getting strats from YouTubers and doing practice drills
Lol, lmao. Quick tip, if you ever look up anything on a game people want to experience together, you're gonna ruin it. Like reading the Wikipedia article before going to the movies ffs.
When did I admit to getting srats? The most I usually do is either the ingame combo trials or missions or whatever. That's only to learn the character or have an idea. If I still want to use them, then I look into it on youtube or wherever.
That's the thing too man, I tried not using my mains. I seriously did. I used the opportunity as a chance to try out other characters I never attempted before, and if anything, it made me love fighting games even more. Using these new playstyles just kinda opened a new perspective on the games I played. I love Rev2 more now. Melty Blood, Marvel 3, SF3, CVS2, Blazblue. But I'm just at a loss here. I don't even think I'm amazing at fighting games, I sure as shit have the experiences in losses to tell me so.
It's simple dude
people just don't want to play fighting games with you
that's fine
I have friends who played comp tf2
they occasionally invite me to play MGE/DM
I decline because I don't want to get 3-20'd for hours, but I'll play a pub or two with them
Just... play different games with them
And there's the dichotomy.
I don't fucking know man, I just tried what I thought was right. Ain't like I can do anything about it now, I left a while ago. It was more than fighting games that drifted me and them apart.
also "playing at a handicap/with meme characters" is honestly a fucking insult to anyone even remotely competitive
either smash them playing your best or don't play
thats a fine way to think if people are already into fighting games but horrible for someone who isnt. you have to ease people in, not throw them into the deep end unless they have the autist gene to take that loss and go "i want to be better so i can do that".
Yeah but that anon's friends are already into the genre
>When did I admit...
>try to suggest some tips or videos to look at to improve
Literally a couple posts ago dummy.
That's only for games I knew somewhat decently already, jackass. It's not for new games. Even then, most of the time it would just me telling them how to think better when approaching. But I should've clarified.
Other than that, I still just use character trials. If I'm at a loss at what to do with them, I look at high level matches to see how they're used and get some ideas. But I've only done that a few times in games I played already.
Ignorance is blissheadass
part of getting people into fighting games is learning to sandbag and slowly throw more shit at them. you cant just optimal punish everything into oki and tech traps. that or pick a game you also havent played so your on even footing
Dude really wrote this then thinks the reason people don't like to play with him is because he always wins
I’ll say it again: Your friends did nothing wrong.
Stupid cunt, and I say this as a dude that loves fightan: you are the problem.
You cannot force anyone to play the way you want to play.
I fucking played umvc3, dbfz, tekken, and SF4, even party shit like smash, with friends and family and we had a good time even when some people were mashing.
You are just a gay anon get your shit togheter.
I'm not gonna even bother with this. Just go read the posts again.
Did they get better at it and get cocky or do they really just exclude you for no reason?
i managed to get my friends to pick up shit like MvC3 and DOA5 through the game pass because they liked arena fighters. i never ever play with my mains when fighting them because theyd just not have fun
i'm pretty much you, except i know nothing about fightan
i even introduced all my friends to fightan games and fightclub and shit and they only play it without me. i'm not even good! the few times i play against people better than me it just makes me want a rematch, not to stop playing. i don't get it
>Valheim
>Core Keeper
>ARK Survival Evolved
>also, every few months they make a new Minecraft or Terraria server only for it to die two weeks later
Hate it when this happens. It's always the base building games too, those always stop being fun when not everyone plays at the same time so progress gets staggered very quickly.
fuck are you in my discord? the only one we keep playing together as a group is jackbox. we've setup multiple servers of each of those games and just dropped them the same night we all decided to play them.
i can speedrun these games now, and its more fun to try and sabotage other people since i know its all going to fall apart within an hour anyways.
>be the speedrunner asshole sabotage guy
>lol the games always die in an hour anyway
If only it were possible for people like you to realize that you are the problem.
>fuck are you in my discord?
No. The normalfag game that we always fall back on is Fortnite. Everything else is either a new FOTM game we only play for a weekend or one dude that tried to push FFXIV but stopped a while back.
but like, you should totally play FFXIV dude it's sooo good like cummies in my tummies good.
>best friend is a wagie so never any time to play
>other friend's computer is pure fucking garbage, could probably not even play Pong without lagging and crashing a dozen time
I'm used to playing solo.
If you have a friend with a bad computer, how come you and your other friend have not given him old computer parts and helped him a bit to make a decent computer?
>gang plays a game with microtransactions
>all of us agree to f2p so no one ends up getting overpowered
>having fun despite playing a f2p game
>depressed fagoli of the group spends 30+ dollars to get all the qol upgrades because he started late
>ends up skyrocketing progression to the point where it's not fun anymore
>does this every fucking time
doesn't matter if it's a 60 dollarydoo game or a random ass roblox game, his paypiggy behavior cannot be stopped
>everyone buys the game
>play together ONCE
>i end up finishing the game solo anyways
borderlands 3 moment
I'm that friend
years ago when BRINK was coming out
>all the guys hyping it up as the next gen ET with "awesomsauce" parkour
>watch gameplay videos on GameTrailers
>guys, this looks kinda bad and the parkour seems very slow and clunky
>half the group agrees with me, others buy it with preorders
>they play it for 6 hours
>after that they just play TF2 with us and never talk about BRINK ever again
also managed to dodge LoL and dota 2 but now we are not as close as we were back then. they've played that shit for hundreds of hours.
You missed out, had amazing fun with my friends doing LoL. Drunk LoL, or playing Ranked for reals, shitting on them because I was the only one go make Gold, then seeing half the group get into Plat next season, even just watching Worlds. LoL was one of those games that was really fun with good friends, so long as you don’t scream at each other.
>so long as you don’t scream at each other.
as I understand it a bunch of them just stopped talking to eachother, and shit got nasty with guys that were REALLY into LoL.
For me, it was the opposite with LoL. I got into it in Season 9, but every time I played with my friends, the game was nothing but frustration, no matter if we won or lost. There was always some bullshit with the enemy jungler or mid laner, and no game ever went "right". I uninstalled it a few months later, the whole experience left a poor taste in my mouth.
I used to ask my friends to buy fun indie games that we could play together in high school but could never convince them, even though the game prices were dirt cheap. After a while I just gave up, I didn't want to try anymore. Years later I see everyone buying games with their friends to play together, any price ranging from AAA to indie. Anyone but me. I don't get it. I hate it.
>convince friend to buy game so we can play together
>he buys it
>he never have the time to play
Love the dude but man, he does this shit every single time
>Friends want me to buy a game
>Tell them sorry but I'm a poverty stricken fuck and I can't afford another "play for a week then never touch again"
>They go "oh no man this is different the games real good and plus it's ancient so it got staying power"
>Cave in and buy it
>Barely two days later and nobody wants to play it because
The worst part about this trend is that I'm always a few days too late so I can't even enjoy a full week of fun with friends.
just play zoomer trash like Minecraft or Rocket League, it's meant for replayability
Anon’s story: A tale in 3 parts
>We all got a fighting game and play it together!
>My friends want to play it one way, but they’re all wrong, they should all play it my way!
>WTF!? My friends have *betrayed* me and are playing without me!?!?!? How could this happen!?
You gotta be low iq if thats what you thought anon was getting at
It's more like 1v1 games with a win and loss screen mindbreaks some casuals.
I stopped doing this. people are going to play what they're going to play. but I've also taken that same approach and play more games solo. Womp womp.
>friend group buys a game
>everyone drops it after a week but one person
>its all they play now
That was me with whatever MMORPG my friends got me into. They'd play it for a month and uninstall. I'd keep playing for another month or two after they stopped.
me with ffxiv
my fucking friends ranted and raved about how good it was and we all bought the sub once we couldn't play anymore on the free trial
then all the cunts stopped playing because boohoo sub but i got hooked
it's been over a year and i'm still playing and i'm still mad
>friends get excited for Lost Ark
>tell them i'll pass because it'll be a f2p microtransaction/grindfest
>they drop it a week after launch because it was a f2p microtransaction/grindfest
I just don't understand how they didn't see it coming?
it was something new and novel to experience and they might have had fun for a bit? nothing wrong with that
I just play fighting games by myself most of the time.
>played super smash with friend for 15 years+ years
>have always been better, beat him 99% of the time
>he doesn't care and keeps playing, determined to beat me
feels good
>play SC2, same scenario
>play 1v1
>body him over and over, even handicap myself or set up practice games so he has room to learn
>he gets butthurt and discouraged
>he'd rather play 2v2 where I carry him
make it make sense
Fighting game matches take less than 1 minute to do, RTS matches take forever to finish
ah that makes sense.
>entire friendgroup is always cautious about being that guy recommending a game and forcing people to play it
>this drops in a humble bundle
>everyone is kind of awkwardly suggesting it might be worth a try
>the game is actually incredibly fun and we play it regularly
Everything went better than expected!
happy for you anon. didn't go as well with my friend group but I'm glad someone is enjoying it.
I've been trying to get people to play for a while, even said that its on the xbox pass that they can get for literally €1 but the bunch of gays would rather play some FOTM shit that they'll launch once and then never again
>Be the guy that talks everyone into playing a certain game
>Even buy the poorfag the game just so he can play with us
>They replace me with someone they met playing on their own
My buddy tried this with genshin impact, I didn't want to give my data to chinese spyware and he fortunately forgot after a month
>can't talk the group into buying any game even though Im 99% sure we'd have a lot of fun
I have a friend who is so desperate he will offer to buy all of us a game just so we play it with him. We pity him.
one of the few games i was talked into buying that i still play regularly
>that one guy in the friend group that gets forgotten about/cold-shouldered after we graduate
>he has to watch them regularly go online on steam to play games together
I need to clear out my friends list already
this but moved away and hit a massive depressive patch that stopped me from talking as much
Do you guys still have friend groups you play videogames with in your extremely late 20s and onwards? Times and motivations just never seem to line up anymore except once in a blue moon. Deep Rock is the only multiplayer game I've even enjoyed in recent memory.
My friend group is mid 20s and the vidya sessions have been more and more rare since everyone finished has university. People only get together to play shit like overwatch or valorant now.
>shit like overwatch
Yep, sure seems to be that way huh. Not a fan of these competitive FPS games these days, I enjoyed Halo 2/3 and TF2 with them, but nothing has ever hit the same spot.
If you're so defensive about it maybe you're like one of these ghouls.
not a shill, but gamepass has unironically solved this issue for me. Last week I unninstalled 200gb worth of games cause i needed space for new stuff like atomic heart and wo long, and it was all stuff like OP said. And it's a shame too cause some of those games were really fun and I wanted to finish them, but playing overcooked by myself is not gonna be the same experience.
this is pretty much how i got my friends out of non normie games. they probably never would have tried shit like deep rock galactic and even civ revolution otherwise
>friends recommend a game
>its always the same game
>random loot, random maps, skill trees, difficulty easy normal hard hard 2... hard 12 etc
>they all instantly look up the meta broken strats
Don't worry, in the not so far away future, AI will be advanced enough to mimic humans perfectly.
You will have AI friends that are always ready to play any game you wish, they will even have distint personalities and varying degrees of gaming aptitude, all to your liking of course.
>They want you to buy another forty dollar early release vaporware hardcore survival/builder
>had 2 friends I've played vidya with almost every day for almost 15 years
>our interests started to be more and more different as our real lives took different turns and paths
>haven't played or talked to them this year at all, barely even text either
>one isn't even online anymore, I'm online like 2 hours a day, other guy somehow only plays battle brothers and nothing else
It's a bit sad but I guess it was inevitable. I was the one always suggesting games and being open minded, but they were super hard to convince and eventually I just played what I wanted and it doesn't make sense to hang out in discord when everyone is playing solo. And their lives turned out boring af and we just have nothing in common anymore. Last game I tried to get them into was Tarkov because I knew we would have fun once they got over the initial learning cliff, but I only managed to get another irl friend to play it.. turns out his potato pc took 15 mins to load a map so we couldn't even do scav runs together, by the time he had loaded in there were just 5 mins left...
I met an online friend in Tarkov General on /vg/ and we played a lot, but then my adhd kicked in and I lost interest in the game so now I don't play with him either.
>someone in the friend group introduces a female into it
>One half of the friend group doesn't like her.
>The other half keeps asking her to show her fat rolls and let them sniff her farts.
my friends are based.
The opinions of the poor do not matter
can't relate.
i have no friends.
>the discord will only play meme games
Fucking god damn get off the modern shooter/survival build grind and play some fucking rts, some fighting games, something else fuck.
Fuck there like 8 of us, it screams for rts and we cant even all que into whatever shooter bullshit you guys wanted to play anyways.
#ventover
>friends talk about new game to play together
>they don't invite me or another friend in our group
>get the game anyway and level up with other exile friend
>jump in their call and ask to join, they reluctantly invite
>proceed to grief their entire base while they're out doing content, deleting or destroying everything they've collected
>form new group with exile friend and make new friends
I don't know why people are so afraid of just saying we don't like you anymore
you sound toxic af as a friend, but infinitely based as a person
have a nice day, Giuseppe. You're an insufferable gay and nobody misses you. Sorry that a handful of F2P games that you got 10000 hours out of spoiled you and turned you into a fag. A 30 dollar video game that we all play together for 15 hours in one weekend is a much better bargain than something like going to a movie or an arcade where we'll get reamed and pay 30+ dollars per hour of entertainment. Hope you don't wonder why your friends stop asking to do things with you.
This is exactly why I don't bother when people ask me to play some new game. Because I know this shit is going to happen everytime and I'm so tired of it.
So the alternative is to not have fun with your supposed friends?
You can't play the game on your own later if they don't finish it?
Your "friends" are probably tired of you too.
Good.
When it’s clearly a FOTM survival title yes it’s annoying to have the game die off after week or two as people gradually drop off and then everyone is a different progression points which makes questing and gearing annoying.
>play a game for two weeks with your friends
>friends move on
wow that sucks if only there was somethin.....
>keep playing the game on your own
HOLY SHIT
DOES ANYONE ELSE KNOW ABOUT THIS? CALL THE FUCKING PRESIDENT
FOTM survival games are boring and grindy as fuck played solo. If you can’t get a few people on you’re better off playing something else.
Makes sense. Perhaps you could move on, with your friends.
That’s the point - it’s annoying to go through the exact same song and dance over and over.
>play for years with a friend
>he decides to just ghost me for no reason at all when everything was swell just the day before
it has been 3 years and still nothing has happened. (no, he's not dead, i know that for a fact)
I keep falling into this trap where I make friends with people who have no interest in the games I actually like, while thinking the people who like the same games I do are gays
