Blops II and Ghosts were nice on it though. But yes, Nintendo scared off EA real quick, but we did get an awesome port with NFSMWU as a send-off from them
Unironically this
Miiverse was like a secret clubhouse of unbridled autism and schizophrenia the likes of which will never be seen again on a Nintendo console
Most of the games on the Wii U were only properly appreciated by tendies, kids, or adults with based taste - it hard filtered normies in a way no console since the 90s did
Plus it was easy as frick to hack and homebrew
The Switch is objectively better but it lacks SOVL that the Wii U had in spades
>ywn argue with kids again who are saying that you shouldn't talk about anime on the netflix community or randomly post brony topics on random communities
Well there's rverse but it's inhabited solely by hacked 3DS and Wii U owners meaning it's not very active and has fairly normal (boring) users instead of children and schizos
Right? The fact that the common people were moronic and thought it's just a wii really made IT a console for someone that has at least some minimal knowledge about games and things around it.
Almost makes me think that Nintendo named it like that for this purpose.

I can't believe the Wii U could've even crack 15 million units sold. What a massive failure. It'll be interesting if the Switch 2 also flops or underperforms, because like the Wii U, it is following a massively successful console.
Switch 2 will do fine, but not as well as Switch 1.
Switch 3 will flop, but not super bad.
We're repeating the original cycle.
NES:Switch
SNES:Switch 2
N64: Switch 3
etc.
But all sales numbers will be higher than the old consoles just due to there being more gamers.
>Switch 2 will do fine, but not as well as Switch 1.
Agreed. I'm predicting about 70-90 million sold. >Switch 3 will flop, but not super bad.
Well, that's not coming until 2032 the earliest, so we'll see. If Switch 2 does poorly maybe the Switch 3 will do well, paralleling the Wii - Wii U - Switch line.
Actually a good analogy, SNES seemed to sell just ok for its time but was a underperformance compared to the NES, selling about 12 million less. Switch has sold 132 million. Could see Switch 2 doing well but not as well as the Switch, about 95-105 million sold.
Yes, as of September 132 million have been sold. I also think that's why Nintendo wasn't in a rush to release the Switch 2, I was surprised people thought it would come out last year. The Switch is printing money for Nintendo.

New Switch is guaranteed to release within the next 18 months but I wonder if Nintendo held on for another few years if it would've been able to pass the DS or PS2.
Yeah, beaten only by the DS which has 154 million. Nintendo handhelds have always sold gangbusters, their lowest is the 3DS at ~76 million which is still nothing to sneeze at
Combined, yeah
Gameboy number combines GB and GBC too

You only need to buy one console per house since people usually share it, but since handhelds are typically "personal" systems more are bought per house

Fair point, I'm an only child so never thought of it that way but makes sense.
Honestly, though, the Switch is a better product, even considering the times, than both of those. The PS2 took 12 years of production to reach that number, the DS took 8 years of production. The Switch is just 7 years old and is making a push at those sales numbers. If it can match the pace it's been selling at these last few years, it will easily surpass both maybe. Even if a next generation console is released soon, the Switch will likely still be in production for a few years past that. I'm sure it will eventually hold the number 1 spot.
Wii U was the last console I bought, if that's what you mean. It's been great, I played it all the time still. Ocasionally boot up my Xbox and Xbox 360 sometimes, use my PS Vita a lot too. 3DS and DS sometimes, and my laptop catches the rest of the predators.
When Wii U was contemporary I preordered Mario Kart and Smash Bros, and Hyrule Warriors. I really enjoyed Mario 3D World too. Eventually Breath of the Wild came out, didn't really like it. Miiverse went down, that was fricking bullshit. Years later I've hacked my Wii U, given Zelda BotW another shot and spent 2 weeks playing it. was fun. Right now I am on a Metroid kick.
>I really enjoyed Mario 3D World too
I'm glad that it got ported to the Switch, was a great game and deserved a wider audience after the Wii U didn't sell well. Unpopular opinion but I actually liked it more than Odyssey.
I started playing some minecraft on Vita, and even with the limitations, the world generation and atmosphere of the game were so much better. Couldn't believe how simple the menu was, without that awful character maker.
I thin some of these old consoles feel so fun because they're not entertainment media centres, the Xbox 360 is, but I don't connect that to the internet.
The Wii U is unironically one of my favorite consoles. I use my Switch more, but I still boot it up from time to time. There was something magic about the Wii U. If you hack it, the Wii U becomes a powerhouse of a console. Can play pretty much any Nintendo game up to the 8th generation.
>Talking about other social medias like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and getting banned for it, even mentioning mods like Project M.
With both Splatoon and project M being mentioned, do you think Splatoon will get the same treatment as brawl with fanmods and such? Pretendo is being worked on right now which is a custom network like nintendo network for when it gets shut down (this april), and with cemu being supported that means pc users can emulate the game and connect to the online.
>Do you think Splatoon will get the same treatment as brawl with fanmods and such?
If it counts, there was a Splatoon custom game mode for TF2 and that got removed quickly
It's pretty easy actually, but unlike the 3DS which is almost impossible to brick, it is possible to frick it up but that's hard if you follow the instructions. Make sure to follow the official guide though and not a youtube video since those get outdated.
How did we go from >Smash 4 online >Two players per console vs friends
To >Ultimate Online >Two player per console vs randos only >One per console vs friends
Why are Wii U owners the only based tendies?
It's the most anti-normie console ever made. Resistant to american COD Black folk and UK fifa chavs.
Blops II and Ghosts were nice on it though. But yes, Nintendo scared off EA real quick, but we did get an awesome port with NFSMWU as a send-off from them
It does have good versions of Black Ops 2 and Ghosts.
FIFA apparently is shit, but I never tried it.
Every console before ps1 was pretty darn idiosyncratic

Y can’t Kid Icarus fly?
It was a true secret club for real gamers. Normies were just filtered by it.
Right? The fact that the common people were moronic and thought it's just a wii really made IT a console for someone that has at least some minimal knowledge about games and things around it.

Actually true. I fricking hate Nintendo and I have a hacked Wii U and a hacked 3DS.
Then Nintendo hates you too. Well done, anon.

give it to me straight bros... how was it owning this and no other consoles?
Does PC count? PC+wiiu used to be the choice to go.

I wish they put Odyssey on Wii U, it's practically the only game on Switch I want to play. So I never bought one, lol.
Just emulate
I started playing some minecraft on Vita, and even with the limitations, the world generation and atmosphere of the game were so much better. Couldn't believe how simple the menu was, without that awful character maker.

I think gba has the best games ever
Every game in that handheld was different and fun, while wii was good most game feel very samey
Based GBAchad, see any more GBA games here you liked?

Good sales for the Wii U and it's continued to sell well on the Switch.
Wii U and Vita were my main consoles in 8th gen
How hard is it to hack a Wii U? All the people in this thread are making me feel like a chump for not doing it myself
It's pretty easy actually, but unlike the 3DS which is almost impossible to brick, it is possible to frick it up but that's hard if you follow the instructions. Make sure to follow the official guide though and not a youtube video since those get outdated.
I have a Wii U. Tell me what I should do with it right now? Is there a point in giving it an SD card?
