>i'm... i'm clicking Protect! i clicked Protect!!
Using Protect properly is a skill, yes.
Yes. Knowing when to Protect. When your opponent will expect you to Protect and so you don't actually have to Protect. Knowing when to keep your opponent honest and attack into an obvious Protect so if they do try to get cheeky you punish them. There are a bunch of mind games between Protect and Fake Out in doubles and it's what makes the format so engaging. Once I started playing doubles I couldn't get back into singles; it just felt too simple. I wish there was an option in the settings in game to have all trainer battles be doubles like they were in the Indigo Disk. It's so boring having to slog through a slow singles only game just to get to end game and start playing online doubles.
That said, the beauty of the Pokemon games is that they support a wide range of gameplay options, so if people want to play singles, whether it's Battle Stadium 3v3 or Smogon 6v6 they're perfectly free to and shouldn't be faulted for liking something different than you.
Doubles are shit.
>T: Someone who needs battles to last half an hour so he can groom the kiddies he battles
Doubles and singles are equally skillful and challenging. Which is not very because the existence of accuracy, flinching, and all those other things is completely out of your control. Yeah, it's a skill to manage the hax and know when to risk it or not, but it still doesn't make the games that skill intensive. Plus being turn based.
Not really, singles is far more braindead.
doubles are a meme
rotations are the true next step for pokemon battles
Why'd they ditch Rotation?
laziness
Too much soul.
it’s a shitty gimmick format no one took seriously
it’s just singles with more 50/50 coin flips
jesus, how did SV end up looking so shit
SWSH generally has better graphics, and yet you managed to pick a screenshot where it looks worse.
Question for nugens, if they're just going to stand in place like sprites do then why bother with models?
>if they're just going to [thing they don’t do]
>let's wait for orders in rectangle formation
Seethe all you want, it looks moronic
>but it magically looks good with sprites because…uh…I grew up with it
Dinnertime zoom zoom, don't keep daddy waiting
>an abstraction looks better than standing there with a gormless look on their face
Why yes.
>I-I CAN JUST PRETEND IT LOOKS GOOD!!
every
fricking
time
you’re a bootlicker yourself, which is why you’re defending the shitty 2d games
I'm not defending shit you undeveloped fetal subperson, sprites did a better job presenting the characters within hardware limitations than the lifeless 3D dolls do
You can be mad about it, you can larp, you do whatever you have to to cope, but the models do not convey a convincing "battle" while sprites don't try to
>sprites did a better job presenting the characters within hardware limitations
how
Good taste can't be taught
i.e. I’m a bootlicker for my childhood games
>hey mom! I learned a new word today!
May it serve you well, tastelet
>but it magically looks good with models because…uh…I'm growing up with it
LOL
Ideally so they can have more interesting camera angles and actual animations for both Pokemon and moves when they attack instead of the minimalist animation you see in the sprite based games. Unfortunately, very few moves do this and starting with PLA the camera movement during moves got even more boring.
it is. and unfortunately we'll never get a real doubles-focused game because gamefreak cannot into good trainer AI.
it would be if fricking urshifu's ability was nerfed to the ground, i'd take a million flutter manes over his bullshit
Unseen Fist was manageable when Grassy Glide had 70 base power and you could double a Pokemon's HP once per battle. Now that neither of these are a thing, there's a "you must be this tall to enter" barrier to battles that is "able to survive a mystic water surging strikes" and it's way too high. Unseen Fist should work like Z and Max moves; it still pierces Protect, it just does 75% reduced damage.
And also get a respectable haircut gay
>Verification not required.
The exact opposite on literally every front. GF is utterly shit at game balance which is why you have to be a knuckledragging cuckold to play their slop formats. Pokemon was not meant to be played competitively in the first place and although Smogon has created something close to a competitive game, ultimately people play it because it is fun. VGCheaters on the other hand genuinely seem to be having less fun than anyone else. They hack in their mons because they hate Pokémon. Yet they remain slaves to the newest nu-GF slop product. Omgon has active ladders for all past gens and it's all free.
>They hack in their mons because they hate Pokémon.
More like they actually want to battle and not spend unnecessary time breeding mons, actually they seem to love the game the most.
Make comp a free-to-play spinoff with built-in team editing, sell skins and shiny unlocks, and LEAVE DOUBLE BATTLES OUT OF THE FRICKING CAMPAIGN IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BALANCE AROUND THEM
I prefer singles because it's usually quick. But I hate competive pokemon anyway.
???
doubles battles are way, way quicker than singles.
paradox mons were a mistake. raging bolt seems like it was at least trying to be different from the rest but it didn't work. i think raikou as a sauropod could look better
