Enemies with higher morale than you are stronger, etc. And killing higher morale enemies raises your morale more while getting killed lowers it.
Setting up checkpoints raises your minimum level, they are often guarded by high morale enemies.
It sounds like a fresh take over stat autism, in these games it's always been the gear that mattered so why not eliminate the middle man? TN let's you respec all the time so it was just kind of extra tedium.
that sounds really fricking dumb, like adding roguelike elements that you need to level back up, if anything this sounds more 'hardcore' and less accessible if little timmy gets btfo by a boss and then needs to not just run back to it but also clear the level every single time to get back his stats
That's funny, I was expecting people to say having a minimum lock that keeps raising would be too easy. Little timmy shouldn't even be playing an M rated game in the first place. It doesn't sound much different from the non-leveled system in strangers and I don't remember anyone ever complaining your max MP shrinks when you die in that game.

Why do journalists ALWAYS feel the need to make it sound like all video games need to approach the "problem" of difficulty with the same solution. Let Koei Tecmo approach it their way. Let From approach it their way. Criticize it, sure, but there are people that fricking beat Elden Ring by the thousands. There are people that probably detest the ilev shit in Nioh. And vice versa. I don't understand why both can't exist at the same time.

Pretty much this. I like chinese fantasy and will definitely check the game out, but I'm under no delusion that my viewpoint could be a popular one.
It's like Nioh in that the combat is fine but the environments and enemy placement are bland, uninspired.
Who cares about gameplay and environment as long as the gameplay is good?

It's natural to hate Nioh if you're a Soulsborne fan and to hate Soulsborne if you're a Nioh fan.
Both franchises are anathema to each other.
