>FromSoft finally stops pretending they make roleplaying games, removes the RPG bloat, and just makes a straight up action adventure game
>It's by far their best and most polished game to date.
Honest game design, not pretending you're something you're not, it's that simple. Souls would be better if it was just built around playing as a knight as well since that's clearly the "canon" design choice. Build variety in action games is a meme.

I don't like Sekiro much, just not for me. I'd rather have the souls formula. Just wish they stopped making bosses so moronic.
Still shit compared to Nioh.
>Action Gacha game
Pass.
sekiro was better but there's less to do in it
>something something combat catered around one weapon
>Gacha
how?
The rpg mechanics in elden ring really pissed me off. You find all these cool weapons but can‘t even use them because they don‘t fit your build and even if they do you have to farm upgrading materials to actually make them useful
Elden Ring may be the ONE game that is improved by using cheat engine to farm shit.
The game showers you in larval tears. re-speccing is easy
I love sekiro it's also my favorite from game, if not favorite game of all time, but it would've benefited from build variety, from an exploration/discovery, replayability, and even combat standpoint.
Maybe after AC we’ll get a sekiro sequel. Should it be a straight up sequel continuing from the Return ending, or a spiritual one, with new faces and places but even more refined sword fighting?
Damn, it sure is hard to go back to regular action games after playing sekiro. It sort of ruins a lot of games just by you playing it.
One reason for why I come back to these souls games is the variety in builds.
On the other hand, these souls-clones that focus on the action elements without the atmosphere, level designs and customization bore me.
Sekiro works because it's not a souls-game. It's an action game first and foremost.
It's extremely mediocre and not even close to Souls games or Elden Ring
>>It's by far their best and most polished game to date.
Ahahahahahahahah
No
For me it's mist raven
*teleports above you*
Sekiro is a laughable "action" game and Elden Ring utterly BTFO it in both combat and bosses
can I get an elden ring webm for comparison?
Sure thing
I can't tell if you're trying to be sarcastic or not.
That looks more fun than anything I played in Sekiro
I would say that too if I got ogre'd.
Finished it before you lol
Not the point. In Sekiro you are given estus tier healing, 3 revives, and several humanity style consumables that refill your health and your revives if you feel like for spme reason you are bad enough that you won't get a deathblow before another death.
The fact that on top of that you don't have the option to start without Kuro's charm is offensive
>3 revives
by that logic you could argue that you get 20 Estus heals in DS1 because that's the maximum possible number, but that's not the case for most players. you get 1 revive by default which usually resets the bosses's stamina upon use.
>several humanity style consumables
only one of them is farmable, the Pellets, of which you can only use 3 per battle (unlike in DS2 where you can carry 99 Lifegems and many other items). they're useless once you've upgraded your Vitality anyway.
Divine Grass is limited and extremely rare.
Rice is a late-game item and only one can be held iirc.
>posts random footage of a boss that's pretty much the first phase of a 3-part boss fight
deliberately misrepresenting a game like this just weakens your position. you don't like the game, fine, no need to lie about it.
>by that logic you could argue that you get 20 Estus heals in DS1 because that's the maximum possible number, but that's not the case for most players.
What's your point? Dark Souls estus system was broken
>only one of them is farmable, the Pellets, of which you can only use 3 per battle (unlike in DS2 where you can carry 99 Lifegems and many other items).
Whataboutism, also worth nothing how easy it is to run away from bosses to consume stuff in Sekiro
random footage of a boss that's pretty much the first phase of a 3-part boss fight
>deliberately misrepresenting a game like this
The fight never picks up until the third phase where the boss is one of the few using aoe. Even that is exploitable because lmao free run. All bosses that don't play by some moronic gimmicks in Sekiro are samey because they are just a series of correctly chosen and timed reactions to the boss instead of a true fight. Fromsoftware realized this because you are constantly doing weird equally uninspired shit inbetween fighting, playing Asscreed stealth with a giant snake, reverse bungee jumping with lighting reversal, killing mist noble, using the spear against that and the whistle against that other thing.
Ironically it never uses the movement system to its advantage for actual combat though. You are never truly fighting vertically for example, or engaging in actual stealth setpieces. It was extremely disappointing when I found out that double jumping off walls in the blazing bull arena was pointless and clearly not an intended strategy over more boring deflect + firecrackers just like poor man's Erdtree Sentinel
Guard counters are so cool
This vid makes the combat look so easy because this player knows the timing of the enemy’s attacks perfectly. I spent hours against a Sevens Spears enemy like this and never beat him. Having to learn each enemy’s attack patterns/timing perfectly is such a slog and the opposite of fun imo.
Don't strip Souls down until you can only play as a knight, but rather make it so that the classes the players pick at the start of the game determine their play style for the rest of the game and give them an option to change classes much like you can re-spec.
My friend quit this game because "you make one mistake and you're dead," even though the title implies you can die twice.
Call your friend a pleb for me.
your friend is a Black personhomosexual
Ironic since you have three revives and you can never get snowballed into having extremely little resources to continue a boss. Sekiro is by far their easiest game
>Sekiro is by far their easiest game
>can't summon a better player to fight the boss for them
lol no
Also can't grind levels and gear. Sekiro is by far and away their hardest game from the simple fact that it actually forces you to get good.
Sekiro is quite easy, and the only boss I had trouble with was Demon of Hatred, but even that isn't too hard once you remember to stop hesitating
>but even that isn't too hard once you remember to stop hesitating
Nice larp, DoH is the one boss where just rushing in gets you killed and is why people shit on him constantly.
>you can never get snowballed into having extremely little resources to continue a boss
you don't actually think this is a good thing do you
why do people never recommend dodging in this game
it's the bloodborne dodge but better and you get to recover posture and not deal with the enemy attacks
Action adventure never meant just one weapon. Ninja Gaiden is a much better playing action game than this is by miles and still has over 10 distinct weapons in it and some replayability.
>press L1 to win the game
nah
is this the new Ganker meme?
pretending that sekiro is the best fromsoft game
>Souls would be better if it was just built around playing as a knight as well since that's clearly the "canon" design choice
Souls is designed around the stick and board or greatsword, so I sorta agree. Fighting every boss with just a claymore really lets you appreciate them without overstaying their welcome.
It is still my favorite From game and the one I played the most but I easily see the cracks in the gameplay. It's proof that sound design and presentation can easily elevate honestly quite simple gameplay. Aggression and deflects can easily negate positioning and practically a solid amount of the bosses moveset is just gone because you just rapid fire slashes until they deflect, deflect their shit, maybe mikiri, rinse and repeat. You can easily never see a single gun move of Isshin or genichiro combo because you just move towards them and spam attack. A lot of the prosthetics take too long or need the weirdly limited but not limited spirit emblems, all the combat arts are too limited and mortal draw is busted as frick.
If Sekiro 2 ever gets made(fat chance), I want them to rework the combat flow so you can't just deflect bot + spam attack. Take that one mod that allows you to bind combat arts + prosthetic usage to different button combos and make it official, maybe new prosthetic combos. Hell, add weather and better stealth(honestly like Arkham games).
