Morrowind is the top version, and yes it is best.
Though having a hidden god or something instagib you if you aggro them is also fun.

It just informs you that you killed a plot important npc, it doesn't make the game impossible to complete.

Have you ever seen someone speedrun Morrowind? You can beat the game without talking to anyone after the intro. The only way to make the game incompletable it to lose one of the few key items, which is hard to do unintentionally.

On your first playthough if you kill someone that breaks part of the main quest you're not going to be able to figure it out in game, but that's why the message is there.

Better than sitting there watching an unkillable NPC get back up from unconsciousness.

Personally I rather like it; it gives you the option to be a moron but lets you know outright and upfront that you've done something abominable, you've destroyed an entire world.
It's certainly better than plot important randos being granted immunity to stabbing by the gods of Plot & Device.

Thats because she is literally the game's failsafe, they needed atleast one npc that you cant kill, the same thing happens with yesman in fallout new vegas

        >the same thing happens with yesman in fallout new vegas
New Vegas handles that very well. You can kill Yes Man all you like but he'll just upload into a new securitron.
I think he does become invincible once you upload him to House's mainframe though.

serious question, why is this the case?

It isn't, Marrowind implimented backdoors in case you killed an important npc, it's easy enough to do.
Hell you can kill practically everyone in the Souls games and you are never locked out of beating the game.

        > They need one character the player can't kill
Why do they need a character as a 'failsafe'.
As Devs they control every aspect of the setting, the flow of the plot and the narrative mechanisms that influence the player down its many branches. You're telling me they couldn't contrive a solution outside of using an NPC?

          Anonymous

Josh Sawyer had a talk about this in his channel or a GDC talk, it's an issue with budget and scope. When you make a game where you can kill everyone, usually your plot is gonna be less in world shattering. For example, you won't be able to do save the world scenarios like in Skyrim and Oblivion. It all of course depends on the setting but that's usually the case for traditional rpgs. You also need to design your game from the ground up to have all NPCs be vulnerable and that does eat into your design time.

Your hatred is justified because people on the internet ruin analogies. The point of an analogy isn't to "prove" something, it's to make a complex topic easier to understand. People on the internet seem to think that a witty analogy is all you need to make your point and the analogy can do 100% of the work.

tl;dr analogies are a teaching/explanation tool, not arguments themselves, but the internet is dumb and anti-nuance

Yeah there's a lot of morons on the internet who think the use of an analogy is to say thing x is the same as thing y.

A childhood friend was mostly open and caring towards me rather than every other male on primary school. She didnt have WLM y because of her overprotective and restrictive parents yet she gave me her email address without asking her... Thinking about it, she may not ne interested in my as love interest but as a really close friend and I treated her like any other classmate. She and her friends group were the best females being I have ever met.

Most of girls get pissed off from not getting attention from their loved ones so they seek gratification from any other possible male. Thats how lot of school prostitutes and eventually porn actresses are born.
In order to save her you literally have to man up and frick her brains out before its too late.

Yes, with sufficient health and recovery you can track the damage from keening and sunder to kill the heart without wraithguard. Both weapons are just found in dungeons, so it's completable without any npc help.

NPCs in Skyrim has the memory of a fish, especially for important ones. I know if you leave the cell for 7 days, they get reset. In Oblivion it's 3 days. The 7 days thing might have been a mod but it does reset fast like that.
