Look man, I get that SJ lacking press turns hurts the game slightly but co-op attacks are kino and the story is easily the best in mainline
Disappointing, but not a bad game. Combat was flashy and enjoyable, music was great for the most part, being able to see demons in their proper size/scale was awesome, and I liked some elements of the worldbuilding.
It has some of the worst storytelling in the series though, some of the dumbest characters Atlus has ever made, god awful performance in a lot of spots, terrible "dungeons", dull environmental design (I don't actually mind open world, but different colored deserts over and over is awful), non-existent replay value due to only the ending really differing/no post-game content, and some really questionable mechanical choices (how much level impacted fights, how much kagutsuchi skills broke fights).
It honestly felt like a game where the devs could learn from where they messed up and make an absolute treasure of a sequel. There's genuinely a great framework in place, but between the clearly unfinished/rushed story, awful Switch performance, and weird bits of laziness here and there, it brings the experience down hard. I'm really hopeful that, when SMTVI finally does get announced, it's a bit more refined.
Honestly though, if they came out with a "definitive" version on other platforms, better performance, some more dungeons, and a cleaned up story, I'd fricking buy it in a heart beat.
>It has some of the worst storytelling in the series
Fricking no it doesn't. I think the way it approaches story is one of its strong points but even then there are so much worse options. IVA is genuinely terrible in how it approaches story not just doesn't have many cutscenes
>I think the way it approaches story is one of its strong points
it barely even "approaches" story
i genuinely can't comprehend how you believe that the story is one of V's strong points when it's so fricking scattered and feels unfinished, even Nocturne had more substance in characterization and motivations for the alignment representatives
I can see that happening, I just really want to see what they will do with the base kinda like this anon

But I'm also interested in how people will remember this game after the dev team moves on to VI
Did you even play IV:A? I didn't mind the story in V but I stopped playing IV:A for months despite loving the gameplay purely because of how aids the story became
YES. Justa quick revelation wasn't enough imo. I NEED MORE, i also need him and all the other knowledges to be shocked by knowing their respective gods. Also, more Khonsu and Miyazu would be nice
Idk if the writers intended, but a many knowledges coming from the same school, the same school that is kinda of a Bethel branch and it being attacked... It's almost like the people of Bethel were gathering knowledges all around Japan to prevent gods/demons from reuniting with their pairs.
Sounds fricking neat.
tied with SJ as the best SMT game

One of my favourite games.

eh the writing quality is on pair with modern Bethesda games.
I don't want to wait for the final 10 hours of a game for some semblance of story to appear.

I really liked it
It's my favorite game
I wonder if anyone will even remember this version of V when the full version re release comes out
I will be irrationally attached to the original and shitpost every thread about the super version
I can see that happening, I just really want to see what they will do with the base kinda like this anon

i remember being kinda disappointed with it when i beat, but the more i think about it, the more i like it.
>Get to the third desert
>Closest thing to a 'story' is some bullshit about "DID YOU KNOW HIGH SCHOOL BULLYING IS BAD?"
I owed IV:A fans an apology after this one.
Did you even play IV:A? I didn't mind the story in V but I stopped playing IV:A for months despite loving the gameplay purely because of how aids the story became
it looks so fricking bad on switch though
>t*ndies beg for Persona
>but they can't let the SMT games go
Moon gays were my favorites
I will kyoani atlus if the full version doesn't have a full arc for yuzuru
YES. Justa quick revelation wasn't enough imo. I NEED MORE, i also need him and all the other knowledges to be shocked by knowing their respective gods. Also, more Khonsu and Miyazu would be nice
I genuinely feel like knowledge pairs were genuinely great way of doing alignment reps without the whole brainwashing part

Not as good as SMT3 but i enjoyed it. Looking forward to the enhanced rerelease.
Yumejoshi game
You mean Fujoshi game
That old fujo lady that has been drawing SMT for years still shipping hard Aogami and the MC
Really don't care for this game or the weebs who act like SMT 4 or 5 are good games
