linux has some moronic shit out of nowhere, if you stop using your computer for 1 week shit breaks for no reason, windows never do this shit, if you boot a computer that has been out of use since 2005 everything will still works.

I stopped using windows BECAUSE I had an event like this. I couldnt get past login without getting a black screen stuck. I tried to restart, refresh, factory reset, nothing would work. I took an iso of win10 and tried to fresh install. When loggin into my m$ account I was told I had broken ToS and would need to contact m$ for further help. Im aware of MS's customer support system, you have to call or email a ticket and they call you whenever they can conviniently get back to you regardless of your schedule(they try and ask what time and day to call you back but will call at a completley different day/time). I once had a guy tell me he was going to check something, hand up (I heard it) mid ticket and never called me back.

Dualbooting is known to call problems. If you don't never boot-up your linux partition, you can't or more specifically it can't frick itself up. So if your partition goes from functioning to broken and it's not a hardware issue then it's probably dualbooting which is known to cause problems.

How is that so hard to understand? there was nothing wrong, it was just the PopOS devs that went "you should have updated this 3 months ago, now we bricked your OS for no reason other than our convenience"

Isn't the whole point that Game Mode is self contained Wayland so you can use it for Gamescope and leave Desktop Mode on x11? Or is that what xwayland is about? I don't get that part.

                Anonymous

gamemode is just some CPU optimization which you really dont need. You shouldnt bother with it
Gamescope puts everything in wayland compositor (games do run using xwayland still) and enables some features that way, makes many games work way better (many older games are superior on Linux only because of gamescope).
I assume with Steam Deck its job is to keep the desktop mode separate as well but it makes things more stable when its inside its own compositor

gamescope is a session thing that is used on Steam Deck by default

This is what happened to me https://www reddit com/r/pop_os/comments/g4y42j/cant_update_pop_os/
The morons at Pop changed the address for the repos and the popshop so I couldn't update using the auto updater from the OS and also a lot of apps stopped working because they depended on the popshop, when I tried doing the manual update then something else completely fricked up my GUI.
I think I was the one to be blamed here for using Pop, but even then this moronic shit should never happened in the first place

tbh the only sane way to dualboot is to give windows its own drive and use the bios to select which drive to boot (or have grub chainload the windows drive)

That's really how it works though. If nothing changed on your system than
it'll just work. Everything was broken before the update. You've should rolled back to a previous snapshot if you had one instead of trying to update a broken system. And then after you rollback and shit is functional then you update.

Funding Linux is good for you too, fricktard. Unless you think M$ will get into gear without any competition.

Don't worry, Microsoft themselves will give you the final push to drop windows soon.

I don't get why OP is crying about Steam and Linux. Never even heard about this. Been using TinyOS 11 and that's it.

    >2024
    >Linux is 5% of total PC market
    >A lot of developers already use Linux to make games, most indie titles already support it
    >2034
    >Windows 10 is no longer supported, new games and updates to older games no longer support it
    >the amount of linux users now being 15% of the industry has lead to hardware and software developers actually supporting it even if they are slow to do so
    >2044
    >Linux is now 30% of the PC user market and everyone natively supports Linux systems
    >Microwiener throwing out everything they can to try and get people to stick around

I wish. You think ms services like word or excell going exclusive would be a deathnail or the pressure to get consumers to pick windows?

Your average business may still use it because it's moron friendly, but they're not enough to support Microshit the way they do now, as their general public audience shrinks they'll have to increase the license cost for businesses.

We need to go back to the days when the OS is on a physical chip and cannot be altered or patched in any way.

Yes lets support the soulless monopoly which is Microsoft. 40 years of dominance and what do you we have?
A shitty pajeet goyslop OS that barely runs with forced trans flags and tons of telemetry. Every modern piece of M$ software is straight up dogshit.
