GalCiv2 is one of my favourite games of all time. GalCiv3 made me so angry, FRICK Brad Wardell. They removed everything from GC2 and sold some of it back as DLC.

3 was a huge let down, stardock's rep took a huge hit from the star control fiasco and there was virtually no marketing.
2 is a serious contender for best in genre. ignore all other games from the developer.

Gal Civ 3 was literally just two with pretty graphics, and half the game split off into DLC. So I stopped caring about any new games they put out.
They finally fixed 3? I might give it a pirate now.

Probably a marketing failure given that i hadn't even heard this had come out before this thread.
Never played much GalCiv2, just a few hours. Did the same with 3 and literally couldn't tell the difference. So if that is any indication, I don't see why anyone would find 4 worth buying.
That, and like others here I hadn't heard 4 had come out either.
I enjoyed Distant Worlds and that was extremely similar in GalCiv. Maybe that's why I never got much into the latter. Might be the same for others. Just not distinct enough of a game from competitors and predecessors alike.
Just because Stardock took awhile and 2 expansions too make GC3 fun too play. So everyone learned too atleast wait for GC4 too be completed. A lot of people simply wont buy games that you know are waiting for DLCs / expansions too be good games.
stellaris has been around for 17 years and is still isn't good, why should a starduck game be any different?

I do not agree with Tate on many things, but the stuff he says about women and how men should focus on their careers is all true.

Initially 3 was just 2 with better graphics but now I'd say it's the best space 4x out there. For 4 I'd wait until it's out of early access as that should be when they've fixed the main problems with it and it surpasses 3 and 2.
Sorry, I forgot to add that initially 3 had less stuff than 2 and they added a bunch of that through dlc. But after all the expansions and patches it is better than 2.
