I like making rogue lite bullet hells. Shit like Enter the Gungeon is so easy to make and you players love the frick out of them. I’m tired of asking fellow devs on Ganker for opinions so tell me what YOU yes homosexual YOU want to see in a rogue lite bullet hell on Steam. I’m tired of seeing good games ruined by homosexuals on discord so I’m taking the opposite approach. You, the worthless consumer tell me what you like and I’ll make a game based on those ideas with no further input or corruption from the outside world.
Boobies
I like it already.
A platformer you play as a naked man with your dick out that's pixelated for a sense of decency, each time you jump your pecs jiggle and every enemy has big jiggly breasts.
I'd pay for this, especially if the protagonist is customizable
Platformer
Naked men, censored genitalia and with pecs that jiggles a lot
>Random elements being used as a crutch for level design and difficulty
>Random effects that happen so infrequently they are not worth it or when they do happen its makes a situation worse
>Not realizing that adding more to the item drop pool is a nerf to already existing items, like drawing a card from a deck
>Adding in some BS mechanic to a new enemy that the player can't be aware of just so they can die and start again to pad out time
>When everything is so random with lots of counters trying to specialize in something is meaningless
If you have to ask randoms what game to make then you simply don't have what it takes.
This game is my shitpost. I can take inspiration from randos if I please. I know it will be shit but I already have two fan loved games so I want to try something different. I want to see how immortal the rogue lite bullet hell is because everyone seems to love that genre unconditionally. Those games are easy as shit to make too.
Post the games you've made then. I look forward to the excuses as to why you can't or won't or shouldn't or couldn't or are morally above posting the only proof that proves you aren't a teenaged liar
Actual level ups, stats, and gear.
Procedurally generated weapons are cool.
Permanent power progression/vertical unlocks is complete shit, the entire game should exist in its unchanging form and my progression should reflect my own skill growth and collected knowledge of the game and nothing else.
Cute furry boys
I like all of this. I never did procedurally generated weapons before.
Good character design
Banger soundtrack
No metaprogression
A run takes around 17-28 minutes
That is it
I usually ignore a game the moment I see "Rogue" in its description, at least mentally.
720p is enough
Allow players to throw items into a void to carry them into the next run. They obviously deprive themselves of the item for the rest of the run, but it gives you an edge in the next run.
Baroque did this and it's the best roguelike I've player because of it.
Baroque also expanded the dungeon based on story conditions so you'd have a reason to do multiple runs even if you succeeded.
Rolls being a glorified I-frame button is fricking moronic. More games should use rolling as, you know, an actual rolling maneuver to physically move out of the way of projectiles and aid in traversal.
I blame dark souls
Lol, I don’t allow rolling in any of my games. You dodge or get fricked.
Don't be afraid to let players have fun just because it might break balance. That's what I disliked about the early game guns in EtG. They were either effective or fun to use, but rarely both.
>I like making rogue lite bullet hells. Shit like Enter the Gungeon is so easy to make
I want to make one too. Can you teach me how to get started and learn?
You need to learn
>JavaScript
>Art
>Music
That is one of the easiest paths that isn’t drag and dropping in a game engine.
I've heard others recommend starting with Python for simplicity or C++ for performance. Why start with Javascript specifically?
JS is everywhere. Python is objectively better but JS can make browser games including mobile browser or desktop games with V8. If you want to be a good programmer start with Python. If you want what’s probably the best for simple games, JS. Learn Python and then JS in that order if you have time.
I'm in no rush and I like learning. The ideal path would be to learn the ins and outs of Python, move to Javascript, and then what next? Do I just start outlining the basics of my game and try to work my way through it step by step?
>Do I just start outlining the basics of my game and try to work my way through it step by step?
Pretty much. What I usually do is hack together a first level before doing anything else and then play it. Based on what I played I can usually fairly easily tell next steps and features for the game which I’ll make a note of to develop later. Actually, what I’m doing right now on Ganker is just asking for ideas for that first level. Everything else will be from me. I’m currently leaning towards doing an 8bit version of
because I’ve never done true 8bit before.
Thanks for the advice and best of luck. Also if you're still taking ideas, a grappling hook weapon would be cool. I love swinging the shit out of enemies.
A grappling hook sounds like a good idea. I was already leaning towards making typically melee weapons long rang like making the default weapon a sword that shoots shockwaves with every swing. A grappling hook that cannonballs you into enemies could be pretty fun.
I fully believe you're full of shit until you actually show us a game you've made
I’m just not gullible enough to dox myself. Get fricked.
Oh okay so you've never made a game in your life and you're full of shit, got it.
Yeah sure whatever bro. Done seething?
Done larping?
>dox
lmao what
there is entire thread full of people posting their work just down the road, Black person larper
Then I’ll post my work there.
Link to it
Honestly, nowadays I wouldn't blame devs for not wanting to admit they use Ganker. Twitter is a great advertising platform if you connect to the right people, but as soon as certain sites get mentioned they distance themselves and the Twitter hoards start to pile on you
high fantasy sandbox RPG with autistic levels of depth
Being inflated like a balloon belly and body preferred as a power-up.
More synergies
The ability to exclude/include item, enemies, bosses, whatever from your run
Keys from your generated seed
Custom characters
Make it so shooting isn't your only means of attack to start with, add melee, tackles to dodges, shit just throw a brawler in there that reflects bullets with punches
>so tell me what YOU yes homosexual YOU want to see in a rogue lite bullet hell on Steam
cute girls
I want to play a rougelite game but there are literally 0 of them with cute girls currently on steam. Trust me, I've browsed the entire category several times.
I plan on making a bullet hell in the future. Add a waifu for marketing purposes and make the game fun with lots of fun weapons. That's fricking it, make the game fun, and have something for the marketing. Also do you need anything for it? Some anons can provide certain things if you ask.
I’m independent and skilled enough I can make the art and music. However, I do appreciate inspiration like concept art, or even games that already exist and you want to see something of similar style.
Gungeon, touhou, A lot of the 90s shooters have a lot of fast based gameplay. Mainly give a lot of control to the player and make them fast enough to have control. Gradually make the game harder over time.
Top down Hotline Miami style game but you hug all the bad guys.
Worked for Undertale.
>is so easy to make
But they're not easy to make good. Focus on making weapon and item combinations create interesting synergies, that's what really drives replayability in these games.
I was thinking of doing suit style like helmet, chestplate, weapon, and boots. A grappling weapon to pull yourself closer to enemies like that one Anon said plus a spiked suit piece with contact damage on enemies could be pretty cool and fun.
what's the point of this thread if you won't put your money where your mouth is
you sound like a woman
Find a use for every single button. I don't care if some of them will literally only be pressed once, I am sick and tired of having to do moronic combos to perform actions on a controller with like 10 unbound buttons.
Put in the Z motion thing from fighting games just to mess with . Add it on top of regular moves to make them stronger so people with higher hand eye coordination get rewarded.
The only bullet hell I like is the Metal Slug series.
that isn't a bullet hell
gabber/jungle soundtrack
