Fun.
Fippy bippy

>shooting people isn't fun
>burning monsters and people isn't fun
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH WHERE ARE MY BOUNCY MUSHROOMS
Ass and breasts, Ass, Ass and breasts
White and Asian male dev team
Search your heart you know it to be true
a good story and enjoyable gameplay
Kemono women
If it's a game game, something totally visceral like Robotron, or totally cerebral like Sokoban. If it's an experience, then go all in on mood/atmosphere.
Omorashi
Very based
Tomo spotted
Good movement
fun
the music
quickest way to spot if a game is kino or not
This is usually the easiest way to make people immediately love your game. Just look at final fantasy. Meh games with amazing music.
Also this lmao. Guaranteed buy from me
Sex
the porn quality
i'm assuming you're actually a WEG dev
It being called "Deus Ex".
how dare you call yourself a game dev with such a basic knowledge gap
dumb frogposter
Story heavy, cutscene heavy, manly and ugly women, plenty of DLC to buy so I can “tip” the devs!
No darkies
I don't give a shit about your story. Make sure the gameplay is fun and actually let me play it.
Bingo. There are no rules outside this rule. If you value story, watch a movie or read a book.
Pacing. Literally everything else can be shit but if the game is paced well it'll blind people to bad gameplay/art/music/animations etc
Games made by these people would earn zero dollars
How is being paced well not part of the gameplay being good? Or is your problem not that gameplay is all that matters, but that those anons posts lack nuance?
unironically attractive characters
you dont have to go full on nakes and stuff, but have them be hot and people will eat it up
Addicting Gameplay Loop.
We don't talk about storygames here.
What game are you making?
0451
This guy going to get perma banned off xbox services, lmao. Bill Gates, yeah, I would like to report an extremist in a video game? Sure, oh, that's dangerous! FBI OPEN UP!
Even as satire, you sound like a homosexual saying it
Player agency. See Half-Life series.
Microtransaction
>addictive gameplay loop
>sound design that emphasizes gameplay elements (ie satisfying sounds when performing actions)
>visuals that don't get old too quick
>music that gets you pumping
>non woke/troony/DEI trash
>story
In that non-negotiable order.
>addictive gameplay loop
That's like saying "just make a good game"
Soul, unironically, so try to make your game not look generic or at least make it look like it has a vision behind it, passion and an identity. Also for the love of God don’t make it a roguelite deckbuilder vampire survivors clone with survival and crafting elements or any of that bullshit
NTR
Gacha + NTR seems to sell well to Chinese, just make an addictive gameplay loop + gacha characters + NTR story where you get cucked (implied not shown) and the Chinese will eat that slop up.
The only chinese gacha is genshin, where is the NTR in genshin? No fanmade games and art don't count.
Kemono women (ranging from athletic and slender to chubby, and from small to huge)
endearing complex characters
I can see the nipples, NSFW!
I love wrestler characters. That scene in the Tekken 8 story mode where you're playing as King powerbombing dudes with all your soldiers shouting your name was kino of the highest order. It's even better when its a non wrestling/fighting game like the Brotherhood combo finishers in Saints Row 2. I wish there was an RPG or something with an unarmed class that lets me do a bunch of suplexes and powerbombs and stuff, I would think there would be a Skyrim mod for something like this by now but there isn't as it turns out. Give me a wrestler character and let me do a cool grab with him, even just one suplex or something and I will buy your game, 100% of the time in every single case and this is a promise.
You sir are impressively based
My favourite part of Metal Gear Online 2 was using CQC to slam guys
You could spec for the CQC skill and knock people out with a throw, or you could combo the throw with a stab or a headshot while they're on the ground to slam and kill them
You could also grab a guy and hijack his team system to give your team a brief wallhack
I partly blame FPS defeating 3PS for losing this stuff from shooters today
that is actually how it feels to not need verification tbh
Tallent with passion as a mandatory second. The question isn't really clear. If you're talking about the broad components like graphics, music, gameplay, then it's not a useful question. They are all important. Hybrid media is very much a sum of its parts. Personally, I'm big on atmosphere. A good atmosphere is required if you want the player to -want- to exist in your game world for longer than a few hours. Atmosphere is mostly governed by graphics and sound design. Of the two, sound is more important too me but that doesn't mean I won't scrutinize the visual design just as closely and if the game feels like ass to play, neither will do much to help.
Video games are fascinating tbh. Both from a player perspective and as a decadent oddity that could only exist right here and now, carefully balanced atop a fragile matrix of technology, logistics, and cultural relevance.
funny animals
now combine these two
You ever just slap implants on an Undertale character and call it original? Bux generator, for sure.
Appealing artstyle and multilayered gameplay mechanics which can both be played as complete ape but supports autisticly planning and thinking. You can also have story that leaves an impresion and let's me think about a game when I don't play, if you don't have great story have mechanics so I can think about those when I don't play.
Also to aswer OP. It's lots of players, RNG, multiplayer, obviously, and hot girls.
SOVL
What a stupid question. You really must be a dev.
Have a clear vision with original and bold design decisions instead of just ripping off already existing games.
Being good.
There is no single ingredient, dork. Also show game.
Think about whether you want to make a profitable game, or a good game
I’ve given this a lot of thought and I’ve concluded that the answer is “something that makes you want to talk to other people about it”
If a game has some common point of interest (a boss, a level, a particular obstacle or enemy, a crucial story choice, whatever) with multiple ways to approach it, people will want to compare notes on that. It turns any game, even a purely single player one, into a kind of social experience.
People say they don’t want this, but really they do. Talking to other people about playing the game is more fun than playing it in most cases. You can leverage this interpretation of game design to explain the success of everything from Dark Souls to Wordle. What makes the game interesting is that we all faced the same challenge and solved it (or tried to solve it) in different ways, and now we get to teach others what we know and learn what they know. It’s exciting to do that.
Hi, rival dev here. STEALING YOUR THREAD.
Do people still like Hitman? Is there an audience for a clone?
And more importantly, what if the clone was SCP themed?
Hitman but more Manhunt aesthetics, you are a straight up criminal not some government agent just to rub it in DEI faces.
Interesting...but I like Men in Black stuff,
Could make it into a Mob guy who's doing hits for the mafia to take out rival gangsters and you encounter these weird creatures along the way, maybe you got some form of minor super powers like heat ray vision that you can use to scan through walls and shit?
What I want to do is make it so you are a 'cleaner' for the Foundation, you clean up containment breaches...by making sure certain people don't leave.
Then that's just SCP containment breach but we already have that shit.
DEI movement loves criminals, anon
Only if they are black or hispanic.
Oh God no.
Anthro characters.
seconding
/vtrash/ will do free advertizing for you for YEARS
One important part is the caracters, I find. I'm surprised that nobody's mentioned it yet, honestly. Gameplay is king, you need good gameplay so your game is enjoyable to engage with, but good characters matter too.
Think about it, when people draw fanart, they draw the characters. When people fap, they're fapping to the characters. When they talk about cutscenes or events, they're talking about how the characters experienced them. If you can interweave your characters into the gameplay somehow, even better.
Gameplay, you idiot
sex scenes with underage characters
Big fluffy women with no pants
only white males or asian males in the devlopement team
>asian males
Gay
talking anime animals/monsters
An abundance of ass and boobies + fun + soul
movement, unless youre making something like a card game, is one of the most important things to get right in a game.
movement sets a lot of the pace in the game, you gotta decide if it will be slower paced to build up tension or make it feel more grounded,
or if it will feel lighter and fast to make the action feel more dynamic.
if you cant get that movement down then it will just feel like ass to play since that will be majority of your interaction with the game.
With card games, variety in cards and complexity that allows for mixture of different combinations to come into play and create unique experiences even if playing the same deck.
Deck builders can take note (fights in tight spaces is an example.)
the option to use gratuitously large weapons
FFS, get the soundtrack right!
It's infuriating these days how many good games have a dogshit or not fitting OST.
Rarely can a single/specific aspect elevate a video game out of its mediocrity. But music can.
Fun
I want to feel powerfull and smart.
gameplay
Turn based combat without dumb timing gimmicks
Do you mean something like Squall's trigger-pull during his attack in FFVIII?
that, Mario RPG/paper Mario peess buttons during attacks bull shit
Gotcha, yeah I agree that gimmick gets old quick (unless it's more involved in a satisfying way, but you're splitting your direction and possibly target audience wants there.)
What would YOU like to see in turn-based gameplay to make it interesting? I assume by your response you're thinking of traditional party-line JRPG combat and not Tactical battlefields.
brutal pain and suffering mixed with vacuous occultism to writhe the mind with torturous desires for completion where completion is not... we tend to call that fun and great world building.
Look into fear and hunger and anyways fromsoft has made.
Genuine passion. What’s the point of making art if you hate what you make?
Playstyle variation.
