Because it was a bunch of young guys making stuff they thought was cool, now it's a bunch of old people telling drones to make something profitable.

      This.
And not just "drones". women drones which is even worse.

These would have been considered nerds and social outcasts back in the 80s and 90s.

      >social outcasts
most of these guys were settled down with wife and kids when this pic was taken. they were nerds sure but not outcasts.

John Romero and John Carmack both were heavily influential and popular in the 80s. Neither would've been considered Outcasts, and considering they both helped make some of the most iconic games and gaming systems, which goes beyond just gaming culture, I doubt you'd ever compare homosexual

My guess is the Halo one where it shows the contrast between the original Bungie devs and the 343 devs who took over and shit the bed

        Any of them, really.
But the answer is this one

God I just watched it. Decay is inevitable, Halo should've stopped at Reach. I played a ton of Halo 5 and it was just not the same. I remember my dad bought Halo 2 and I would play that on the Xbox all the time.

"Whoa bro, I'm so quirky. Lol check out my shitty games.
Uh I'm socially malformed, let me do a quirky smile LOL"
      >top pic
Only one guy is onions facing, and even then, he's clearly exaggerated and trying to be funny, as my Black person John is. Rest are calm, guy on right is trying to be an edge lord but still maintain a professional image
      So tl;dr

20 years ago, all the best and brightest went into game development. This was the tip of the spear.

Today, this is no longer the case. Game development is seen as pleb tier employment now. So the best and brightest do not go into it.

Using this logic you will see that even though it is now 20 years later, games are significantly worse.

It is important you understand this, so you understand why modern games are shit and why they are never going to get better.

      >20 years ago, all the best and brightest went into game development.
not at all, but there was a higher barrier for entry that meant that more artists and programmers ended up making games than now

It's far better to go work in social media, AI, streaming, youtuber. Nobody wants to be a game dev these days unless they make graphics or music.

Most of Capcom's 80s and 90s devs were either high school or vocational school graduates, once they started hiring more college graduates in the 2000s the president told the old head of R&D flat out to his face "These days' I'd never hire someone like you."

Go find some videos on youtube of high schools in the late 80s and early 90s to have your mind blown. To have it completely obliterated, try to find some of high schools in the 70s.

Higher skill floor, you didn't have tons of libraries, documentation, shit like stack overflow, engines, youtube tutorials and good hardware back then. Only the real ones who understood how to code could develop games. Now you can literally copy paste entire functions from stack overflow and just watch 3 tutorials on how to write something, even a moron can "code" and it attracts all the trannies and women who get hired due to diversity.

id created the engines their games ran on and that informed the creative decisions of the game design. teleportation in Doom is how spans were justified, and that formed the teleportation plot of every major FPS in the 90s from Quake to Half Life
everyone today just uses Unity, the games are less inspired

Bunch of sissy liberals, brainwashed by "higher education" most definitely atheists because they're fighting back against their parents for taking them to church as children. Doing some fake job like making computer games.

I think Kojima said it best in one of his podcasts that the sweetspot of success is when you are doing well enough to get a budget but not successful enough for the devs to have to meet the money man's huge expecations on them. AA or low tier AAA budgets should be the standard and not the corpo products AAA gaming has become.
