It was fine until it (essentially) stopped having a central character to base anything off of. Now it's a hodgepodge of just stuff happening constantly.
Gojo is the worst part of the series. He's so overpowered the author had to seal him away for over a year so there was any sort of narrative tension.

I like Sukuna. That part where Itadori releases him to frick some guy up because he has no choice, and this almost becomes a complete disaster because Sukuna is evil as frick was really cool.
I wish the pink guy stayed dead after the first time it happened, like episode 4 or 5 I guess it was, and the rest of the series was the black haired dude having to live with the guilt of it becoming the new protag and hanging out with Gojo, but for that story to work they should had to establish they were friends beforehand during episode 1 instead of just meeting per chance seconds before all went to shit. Nobody has the balls to pull a fakeout protag and actually keep them dead

Thats the shit I hate the most, at least with Hoyo's games the stuff the offer in the battlepasses are materials you can get elsewhere. The only exemption are a few items in Tears of Themis like backgrounds and outfits but thats an Otome game.
It's like a subscription, except instead of getting game content you get MTX fodder instead, often attached to some shitty gacha mechanic.
You pay to unlock a progression system that gives you rewards each milestone you pass, typically progress is done by just playing the game or by completing missions that require you to play the game. They're basically using a combination of offering a value "package" as well as FOMO by putting exclusive cosmetics as rewards to pressure you into buying the pass and then forcing you to play the game to conclude the battle pass before it expires otherwise you would waste your purchase.
It's pretty much just like a DLC pass you moron. This one you need to play the game to unlock the rewards. Most of the requirements being asinine activities that you need to do.
Using the fornite example, playing is free, you pay for cosmetics. Now, since playing is free and levels dont matter gameplay wise, you get a sense of "progression" by unlocking stuff (cosmetics, and maybe some music or emotes) on the battle pass. If you dont pay you might get 1 thing every once in a while, but if you pay the battlepass you can unlock everything as you play. This season level 100 gives you Optimus Prime, for example. Now you have the new mini battle pass which is separte but shorter and gives you jujutsu kaisen skins and shit, and theres the shop which sells stuff for limited time. So now you can spend money in these 3 non-gameplay aspects if you want/dont have self control

Theres usually a bunch of fluff that 99% of the playerbase won't use and a few skins that won't be available for purchase. Fortnite is probably the most generous considering you can grab one and never pay for another if you get it to level 100 each season.

Deep Rock Galactic has a battle pass, but it's free and when the season end the rewards go into the regular loot pool. Basically even if you join now, you can get everything even from season 1.
It's one of the reasons the game is so highly praised.
