Game Developers Irrational Hatred Of Series S

Series Sissysters, developers are mocking us again…I thought we were a cheap and cheerful emulation machine that was easily scaled to and would last the entire generation, this doesn’t feel good. if we can run Starfield we can run anything, why won’t they stop bullying us

who's saying that the Series S won't run the game smoothly? people are talking about split screen mode, something that the Steam Deck also doesn't supports officially

Agreed. I got one of them for when I feel like couch gaming. Little guy has literally never sputtered or crashed.

I need to know who is making these complaints. Rockstar got RDR 2 to run on a fricking Xbone, so these complaints better be coming from people making massively impressive games.

Just a casual glance at Forza Horizon 5 or Flight Simulator on Series S tells you the thing can put out beautiful graphics when the games are optimized correctly.

It's not the system. It's the developers. And this isn't like some new problem. We've known for decades that developers are incompetent little shits. The question is why aren't people mentioning it when the Series S is brought up? Everyone somehow forgets that? How convenient.

I am a consumer, so I want to buy a finished product, if you want me to optimize a spaghetti mess, you will definitely have to pay me, or else I won't pay for your shitty game.

Devs still barely offer DLSS or FSR support. It shouldn’t be surprising they also avoid using geometry engine or sampler feedback streaming or any other new software tech from the past 10 years that isn’t part of the standard way games have been developed since 7th gen

    >make game run on series x / ps5
    >tone down and turn off taxing post processing for series s. maybe reduce render distance in the process
How hard is it, really? PC games from 15-20 years ago used to have plethora of graphical options to tailor to your needs, why not try that approach now? With current technology it should be more than doable, no?

      Anonymous

Yes, it's doable, but modern games are running on such powerful machines that devs just release unoptimized slop knowing systems will bruteforce their way through it (poorly in some case, these morons are releasing games that even PS5 and Series X struggle to run adequately).

Remember Bethesda rebooting your Xbox during loading screens for Morrowind? Or Naughty Dog literally writing their own compression algorithms for Crash? Or Insomniac embedding extra code in the EULA to patch some shit after they ran out of space? No creative or difficult solutions like that will ever be achieved again because modern devs are gays.

        Anonymous

yes, and gays as in literal homos and trannies who think making a videogame boils down to how many gay sex cinematics they can pump into it

        >Or Naughty Dog literally writing their own compression algorithms for Crash?
One of the many very impressive things they did for Crash, those guys were literal wizards back then.
Even Uncharted 2 and 3 had some serious technical wizardry for some of the crazy sequences like the train, look it up, they were probably the only ones to really bother to push the Cell processor.

More recently I bet Rockstar also did some crazy shit to get RDR 2 on PS4/Xbone although nothing has really come out to confirm it. But it's true that for the most part devs these days either don't care or simply aren't capable enough to do stuff like this.

Developers ideally want costumers to spend thousands on hardware so they themselves can spend less time actually optimizing their games correctly.

      >what do you mean we have to optimize our games?
They don't. They can just skip the XBox, which is what a lot of them are doing. XBox doesn't have enough market share to justify it anyway.

Phil Spencer had to make a special deal with Larian where they do NOT have to have feature parity between Series S and Series X for Baldur's Gate 3 to appear on XBox, so they releasing the Series S version with less features.

    >"lol who cares, frick Series S"
    >when the next big release comes around
    >"wait, why does this run like shit even on the premium consoles"
Devs can't into optimization on any platform, Series S is just exposing them for the hacks they are. Demand better or get fricked repeatedly by new games.

Those b***hasses devs can't port a fricking Metal Gear collection onto Switch to run properly. Frick them b***hes, I wish they all die from povetry.

To be fair 3 ran like ass on 3ds too but yeah, unless it's a passionate indie devs or Nintendo devs have been phoning it in more and more.

All of this is bullshit Sony shilling. The reality is that 99% of games being released right now have PS4/XBOne compatibility. Both of which are weaker than the Series S. Not to mention something like 30% of PC's being used for gaming right now are weaker than the Series S according to Steam stats. Don't even get me started on the Switch.

There is no major developer openly saying this shit because it's not real. There're a few whiny indie developers that can't optimize for shit who are whining because the Series S won't brute-force their spaghetti code together with sheer power to make up for their laziness/ineptitude.

And I'm not just running my mouth. I have both a Series S (kids) and a Series X (mine). I game on PC 95% of the time. Kids also have a Switch. I've seen all of these in action. There is nothing wrong with the Series S. It will always be weaker, but that doesn't mean it can't do the job just fine.

Devs don't want to optimize anymore, because it takes work. PS5 and modern Xbox and PS5 are just PC miniboxes, the series s and to a lesser extant the switch are the only reason why devs are seething so hard since they have to consider them in mind, and slowly they're convincing shareholders and CEOs that they're worthless

  22. 9 months ago

It's not irrational, devs want to work as little as possible and the SeS existing makes them look incompetent, so they're weaponizing console warriors against it
