Act 3 on release was fricking janky as shit because they released the game ahead of schedule to not compete with Starfield >FPS shits the bed in the Lower City >Upper City was cut entirely >a lot of quest scripting just doesn't work >game doesn't even really end with a denouement, it literally just stops and you don't know what happened to your companions except your lover
most of this has been fixed mind, but on release, Act 3 was very clearly in dire need of polish, especially compared to Act 1 and 2
Act 2 is fine, notably shorter than both Act 1 and 3, but that's okay, game is easily 70/80+ hrs already WITH high replay value

Age of Wonders 3 came out of nowhere a decade after AoW2/SM and was personally funded by Notch as a no-strings-attached passion project (arguably the best and only good thing he ever did with his Minecraft dosh). It's far and away the best, most content-dense entry in the series and has been given away for free several times.
