It’s probably not the same person saying the top and bottom. But I do notice that whenever the Gen 4 evos are brought up (positive or negative) some one always brings up Sinnoh “saved Johto” for “fixing the Johto shitmons” when Kanto and Hoeen got just as many new evos.
Yet somehow whenever megas came up it’s never brought up they hard carried a bunch shitters from KANTOOOOO and HOENN despite megas being far more broken the any buff any buff any gen2 pokemon has ever gotten.
Speaking of which even when you give examples of Gen2 pokemon that aren’t shtimons (say Azumarill or Scizor) there’s so cope like “Azumarill used to be a shitmon”, as if torkoal and pelipper weren’t complete sacks of crap until they randomly got weather abilities. Or worse they try to claim that Scizor isn’t a Johto Pokémon because it evolves from a Kanto Pokemon, which is effectively a reverse of there earlier arguement and would imply that Sinnoh is Wienie Hut Juniors of the Pokemon would gsince nearly all the Pokémon there actually worth a damn (in PvP) would be from other regions.
Idk why everyone hates Johto so much? Is it really just those moronic level curve videos on YouTube? Even with the reveal coming soon, it feels like people are pro Unova solely because they don't want a Johto game. A lot of people seem to not like Johto for some reason.

I don't want archaic gen 2 remakes, if they gonna make let's go formuła, because it is too much faithful to original games, but with XY graphics. Gamefreak will not fix any gen 2 problems, not gonna make better content than HGSS. Johto games are mostly liked because of dual regions. You really want fighting with underleveled Falkner's Pidgeotto again, fighting with three fricking Dragonite's in the champion fight? Johto sucks
From what I've seen people tend to whine and seethe when a Kanto mon gets some love (even if it's not one of the popular), and cheer when a pokémon from gen 2-5 gets something new. I don't think i've ever witnessed what you're refering to here, especially the kanto praising part, it's the opposite most of the time no matter the subject, just look at how hard it is for some people to write Kanto instead of KANTOOOO (le funny meme amirite?).
I would say it's a mixed response, but you're correct. I do see more people whine about a Kanto mon getting something because it gets too much love. Personally was so annoyed at XY getting a bunch of special Kanto mons. I think it's also a bunch of genwunners and game freak pandering to them.
