Its a shame Nioh ditched the movement and pacing of ninja gaiden.
Having the camera, magnetic attacks, and jumping around of ninja gaiden but the moveset variety of nioh would be greatest game of all time.
You would be surprised at the sheer speed at which Nioh can move at the higher end. I have no issues controlling the lock on to swap between any target but I can't deny I would be curious to see how it would work with a soft lock-on and am surprised there hasn't been an attempt to mod it in. Adding Wo Long's jump into the game would be very easy to do for an eventual third game as well and I'd like to think they would take what they learned from it and SoP for when the time comes.
People shit on RE because few actually play it properly with the intent to learn it, if they play it at all. But maybe the key is to not assume the absolute bare minimum in some funny epic webm is how any game is played, especially in a genre specifically about learning the breadth and depth of how it can be approached.

Oh I've experimented with the builds enough to know what you mean, but nothing comes close to the kind of magic that is doing a dodge jump into a double wall run into a flying swallow bouncing off a guard and on landing windmill slash. Movement in ninja gaiden was much snappier so while you can go fast in nioh, its not a precise kind of fast, it usually just ends up being very fast demon killing at incredible hihg speeds.

Yeah the only times I really do that is with beyond infinity, otherwise its usually too much trouble. Soft lock on I think would make the group combat a lot more fun.

Yeah I was really excited for WL at first when I found out they were adding jumping mechanics, but it felt kind of bolted on top of the nioh engine.
Yeah Ninja Gaiden's movement certainly has something special to it and is quite a bit more dynamic, I just find Nioh to be no slouch when it comes to raw speed and pacing and it approaches it in a different manner. It's still precise and deep, there's just less interactions.
Group combat is one of the things I enjoy the most in Nioh and while the lock-on system is a step below SoP's which is utterly perfect it's still very easy to switch between after getting in the habit of it, it's worth the practice. Breaks my heart that Wo Long backtracked after SoP because it would be a very fun game for group fights with some changes and even still can be. I have only so much faith that they'll do the right thing with the proposed updates because precedent seems to be cut and dumb down things for slighted people who don't want to learn.
nioh and wo are dogshit, ninja gaiden is their only good franchise
it sucks that the game doesn't have ways to stop you from spamming but you aren't forced to use abuse them, game is still fun without that.
It would be very hard to do that in Nioh. Nioh's controls are already using as many buttons and button combos as possible for it's mechanics
It wouldn't be hard at all. Put jump on Circle, put interact on Touchpad like SoP, put the emote menu on Touchpad+Options or another combination, or have it accessed from the menu.

People shit on it, but Razor's Edge does a really good job to get around all this, and enemies legit can frick you up really fast in later levels if you rely on cheese, and not the parrying system, and really utilizing ultimate technique.

nah it can't lol ultimate technique is useful if you space yourself against enemies correctly so you don't get ganged up on, and the parry is only sometimes available in fights if an enemy makes themselves open to it, but these two things are not that viable in boss fights if at all, and solely rely on skill. it's 100% how I know you never played Razor's Edge moron.

Izuna Drop is overrated, damage wise even XYXXX will kill almost anything and the splash rarely ever hits. The frickhuge recovery also puts you at risk of grabs. Also FS is garbage past normal mode.

At this point Im convinced I am the only person who knows how Ninja Gaiden games work.
NG is better than DMC in every way. I found DMC so fricking boring and lame in nearly every way. NG series stays fun and fresh and challenging, even if at times that challenge is "bullshit" difficulty.
the only thing Id say DMC has a leg up on is the style you can put on everything, which if you watch some combo videos some people really do go crazy with it. But in terms of like an actual game that you play and fight enemies and use the fun weapons/etc? NG beats DMC by miles
