In Persona 5 it's tied to fusion mechanics.
Lots of games use tarot cards as a motif. Phasmophobia has cursed objects that can spawn randomly, and a literal deck of tarot cards are one of the items. You can pull individual cards which do different things, like pic related which causes the ghost to immediately start hunting you.
