To be honest a Trial and Error game is not a problem, my biggest gripe its the time it takes to go back to your last save, Dark souls sometimes feel like Trial and Error but its only a loading screen apart, meanwhile IWBTG has instantly respawn and its just a trial and error game.

If you screw up the fight, he proceeds to shove his giant dick up your ass with zero lube (there is a cutscene of him fricking the shit out of you), he then breaks both of your legs and tosses you into a pit with dead bodies.

I would imagine your deadening to the horrors of the dungeon are a good match to the character's slow deadening of horror and acclimating to the evil things that need to be done. If you feel it wearing off, it means that you're becoming more like the other denizens of Fear and Hunger.

This isn't a point to be contentious about. In games where you try and try again and "skill up" the player is getting better, but you don't assume the character in-universe is improving between attempts. In Ninja Gaiden, you don't assume Ryu sucks when you play badly and then over time he becomes amazing. He is able to read enemy cues and defeat enemies because the player is able to do those things and control the situation as if they had spectacular knowledge and practice unavailable to the character alone.
You are playing the game and that becomes part of the experience of the characters. It's CHIM homie.

The first save ( the most important) is guarded by an enemy that is probably one of the most dangerous entity of the dungeon.
Enemy will attack you on the second save point unless you clean the floor.
The only other safe save point is a tower in the middle of local El Dorado.
There are scrolls of saving that destroy themselves after one use. 1 or 2 in total.

is it just me or are the way the endings are structured in Termina incredibly unsatisfying?
I got to the tower and the only way for me to progress is to kill everyone? i literally have no idea where to even find half the people and it's kinda a dick move to just massacre your party after you've spent like 20 hours traveling with them
compared with 1 the only good thing in Termina is gameplay, anything else is massively downgraded (settings, story, lore etc)
I actually love the setting and characters although it feels less horrific than the first game. I also feel like the progression through the game doesn't feel as tightly designed.
I also think F&H 1 just had more SOVL with protecting the girl through the dungeon. If the first game had Party Talk and the improved art and combat mechanics of Termina, it would be decidedly the better game.

Levi is good. I've skipped the backstory and had to heroin withdrawal. Also having the ability to remove limbs with a single pistol shot is really busted imo, so I was able to kill the priest and the woodsman solo without any problems.

I heard about legarde having a 30 min time limit on saving him at some point before I reached a "true" ending though which is why I fully restarted the game sometime halfway through mahabre on my first savefile. Ive used "guard" maybe once or twice in my 30 hours of playing this game, and once you use it effectively even once you basically figure out the exact tell for attacks that "should" potentially be guarded as they have a near identical telegraph for all enemies (a turn that only amounts to a description of them doing something/ preparing to do something)

Just finished Termina, i wish the game had explained better what drawing each god's sigil does and that you can sacrifice heads for skill points. Also wasnt a big fan of saving advancing time because it meant i had to do big stretches without saving which wasnt that bad in itself but not being able to exit the game without all your progress being lost and also not being aware where the non-moonscorched contestants were even with the skill for it really sucked. Besides that i enjoyed the game alot.
You're not supposed to know all that, it's not for everyone but this type of game specifically withholds information so that you can have lightbulb moments when you discover what something does or where a useful ally/item is.
Also time is very much a first playthrough constraint, day 1 morning runs become easy after a while.
The head thing was pretty obvious i feel considering they give you a bonesaw right next to the first sacrifice circle.
The rest is pretty obtuse but I think learning that stuff over time is part of what makes the game so interesting to me.
Suspend saves would be kino though I agree as sometimes you just have to take a break.

To be honest a Trial and Error game is not a problem, my biggest gripe its the time it takes to go back to your last save, Dark souls sometimes feel like Trial and Error but its only a loading screen apart, meanwhile IWBTG has instantly respawn and its just a trial and error game.

One of the first enemies you encounter in this game is this ogre-like prison guard, with a GIANT FRICKING SCHLONG hanging between his legs. If you screw up the fight, he proceeds to shove his giant dick up your ass with zero lube (there is a cutscene of him fricking the shit out of you), he then breaks both of your legs and tosses you into a pit with dead bodies.
And that's just the first opponent you encounter.

All the characters are horrible, vile people who experience and do miserable, disgusting things so I don't really see the draw of self-inserting here. I like F&H for the aggressively challenging and punishing gameplay. Dying is a slow and painful process, until it suddenly isn't. It's probably the best horror game I've ever played, and some shit was hard to sit through.

In games where you try and try again and "skill up" the player is getting better, but you don't assume the character in-universe is improving between attempts. In Ninja Gaiden, you don't assume Ryu sucks when you play badly and then over time he becomes amazing. He is able to read enemy cues and defeat enemies because the player is able to do those things and control the situation as if they had spectacular knowledge and practice unavailable to the character alone.
You are playing the game and that becomes part of the experience of the characters. It's CHIM homie.

If you don't have enough meat grinders then just give them the wrench for a stun chance.

You need to kill Needles in his second spawn location (inside the city) before going down further into the Bunker if you want him to survive

Recruit Abella and immediately leave the bunker. This will ensure Tanaka is not killed there, but you must kill Needles in town before progressing to the next day or exploring the bunker.
It is kinda power gaming but if you don't go any deeper after getting Abella, you can get her and save Tanaka since the flag for his death if deeper in.

The first save ( the most important) is guarded by an enemy that is probably one of the most dangerous entity of the dungeon.
Enemy will attack you on the second save point unless you clean the floor.
The only other safe save point is a tower in the middle of local El Dorado.
There are scrolls of saving that destroy themselves after one use. 1 or 2 in total.
Trannies.
It takes time and effort to develop a successful game, but no effort is required to play and talk about it.

I got to the tower and the only way for me to progress is to kill everyone? i literally have no idea where to even find half the people and it's kinda a dick move to just massacre your party after you've spent like 20 hours traveling with them

I actually love the setting and characters although it feels less horrific than the first game. I also feel like the progression through the game doesn't feel as tightly designed.
I also think F&H 1 just had more SOVL with protecting the girl through the dungeon. If the first game had Party Talk and the improved art and combat mechanics of Termina, it would be decidedly the better game.
compared with 1 the only good thing in Termina is gameplay, anything else is massively downgraded (settings, story, lore etc)

Levi is good. I've skipped the backstory and had to heroin withdrawal. Also having the ability to remove limbs with a single pistol shot is really busted imo, so I was able to kill the priest and the woodsman solo without any problems.

I heard about legarde having a 30 min time limit on saving him at some point before I reached a "true" ending though which is why I fully restarted the game sometime halfway through mahabre on my first savefile. Ive used "guard" maybe once or twice in my 30 hours of playing this game, and once you use it effectively even once you basically figure out the exact tell for attacks that "should" potentially be guarded as they have a near identical telegraph for all enemies (a turn that only amounts to a description of them doing something/ preparing to do something)

Just finished Termina, i wish the game had explained better what drawing each god's sigil does and that you can sacrifice heads for skill points. Also wasnt a big fan of saving advancing time because it meant i had to do big stretches without saving which wasnt that bad in itself but not being able to exit the game without all your progress being lost and also not being aware where the non-moonscorched contestants were even with the skill for it really sucked. Besides that i enjoyed the game alot.
You're not supposed to know all that, it's not for everyone but this type of game specifically withholds information so that you can have lightbulb moments when you discover what something does or where a useful ally/item is.
Also time is very much a first playthrough constraint, day 1 morning runs become easy after a while.
The head thing was pretty obvious i feel considering they give you a bonesaw right next to the first sacrifice circle.
The rest is pretty obtuse but I think learning that stuff over time is part of what makes the game so interesting to me.
Suspend saves would be kino though I agree as sometimes you just have to take a break.
