Silent hill 1. Everything about the game is great but dealing with enemies and having to make your way around the city when half the passages are blocked isn't exactly fun. The ost, atmosphere, design, and spooks make it a classic though
Great game in nowdays is simply game without major bugs and straight story, which can be played from start to end.
Like, burgers from in-n-out are great, but they can't give you same fun as some unorthodox burger from random diner.
isnt that pretty much all walking simulators/visual novels? the gameplay itself isn't fun, but people can agree that the graphics, music, writing, fps performance, etc are okay.
the only one of recent memory to break this trend is death stranding and they had to literally call it a new genre.

I think RE1 fits that definition. I can tell it's a great game, but it isn't about fun at all
