He never sleeps. He says that he
will never die. He dances in light and in shadow and he is a great
favorite. He never sleeps, the judge. He is dancing, dancing. He says
that he will never die.

RE4 remake
Now maybe FF16 too but unsure
Is this even possible with modern games? I thought it was a childhood only thing but then I played some old games I missed for the first time as an adult and it brought me back, there were even 1-2 modern games like that but most are absolutely devoid of that dreamy charm that hooks you.
For example BOTW was my first 3D Zelda (I played ALTTP as a kid but didn't have 3D Nintendo consoles for a long time after) and I didn't care about it at all, I played OOT after it and it made me feel like in the OP.

Happened to me a couple months back when I played Fortnite for the first time. Now it's happening to me as I'm playing through the Witcher 3, also for the first time.
Fricking Fortnite? Really?
Yep.
I resisted playing it for years until a friend finally convinced me to play it, and it's been the most fun I've had in a long time.
one of the most popular games of all time is actually good. what a surprise.
FFXI Horizon
I quickly burned out

Great Ace Attorney made me stay up until 3 AM cause I wanted to see how the case ended. Other than that, Persona 5 on launch week.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team. God I want to go back.
Blasphemy, anon, but yes, me too.
>the menu theme
>the team base song
Good examples? Factorio, Cultic, one or two puzzle games.
Bad examples? A few games that I play impulsively and have played way later then I should to grind up to the next level or achievement. Path of Exile, Dota, a few others- I play these less now though, I want more well designed single player games nowadays.

System Shock remake, fantastic game
total shame it crashes on launch now but I had a lot of fun till engineering
Diablo 2. Maybe League back in 2010. I think video games reached their end peak around that time, along with nearly all media and civilization in general.
Keeping me up latenight to early morning is an achievement enough. waking up to immediately play more is addition levels.
FF16
last time before that was DMC5
mario odyssey which i just got around to this month
I'm 34 and I still do this. Thought I would grow out of it. Can't tell if I'm cursed or blessed.
Starting FF14.
No kidding I really liked the ARR part of the game . You can't tell me the overworld isn't soulful in ARR.
