I don't understand what that means. I mean "it doesn't sound like a game soundtrack" what does a game soundtrack sound like? Do they all have a specific sound?

It's pretty easy to tell game music apart from the rest most of the time.

      ggxrd, ggxx, ggx
      all much better than strive

Mostly lifted riffs for XX and Rev. This time out he's just straight playing some alternative universe version of Queen songs.

I already listened to the XX soundtrack and this is infinitely better other than blue water blue sky and simple life

His best riff is Still in the Dark and it's like a basic Maiden riff.

I don't believe you. What are you talking about. What are the signifiers to you? Really I'm curious I don't want to shit on you I just wanna know what you listen for to spot "game soundtrack" vs "anything else".

some combination of chiptune, minimalism, not using real instruments (or at least not making it sound like real instruments), lack of vocals, lack of riffs or memorable melodies, short, atmospheric. just some examples.

Strive OST is pretty much a metal album although some might not like having vocals all the time.

X and XX are literally just stolen songs from real musicians. Of course they're better.

This, a single track from XX blows out anything from strive

That's... pretty bad. At least post one of the good ones.

Dmc, strive, and plenty of other games have shown vocal tracks can work if the composer understands what they're doing

    >all vocals
    >most of the ost is takes a bit to start up, which is awful because strive matches are too fricking fast
i didnt even think xrd was that great either but frick man what a downgrade.

      >all vocals
That's part of why it's so good, homosexual. And I don't care about the other point, I'm listening to it while doing other stuff.

yeah i figured because you post like a secondary rather than someone who would listen to it both ingame and outside of the game

I bring up Michael Giacchino every time this question comes up
For a long time he just did vidya soundtracks, but the medal of honor soundtrack was fricking amazing
He went on to do the soundtrack for early Call of Duty and then went on to go do actual movies
He won an Oscar for the soundtrack to Up

I've heard this one before, lovely tune
