I was forced to play piano since I was 8 and hated it but there was something to the level of expression possible on the guitar that drew me in. Piano definitely offers more possibilities in terms of solo instrumentation and the chords one could play but whenever I played it it always felt like I was sitting down at a machine. Like it wasn't really me I don't know how to explain it. Guitar is also ancient, and although it has gone through different iterations it isn't going anywhere either lol. But hey, to each his own. Well, with guitars you have vibrato (bending/stretching strings), tapping, sliding, etc.; there's more expressive technique available. However, with a piano you have hand independence for play, more octaves, cleaner chord possibilities.

Go to any jazz bar and jam on any instrument for literal free pussy. Back in my uni days I used to go to those places, play any easy rendition of autumn leaves with the same "improv" sections every time. Wood sucks but its cheap and easy to work with. Steinberger made a really nice guitar in the 80's that was graphite and carbon fiber. Its amazing how the guitar industry, and every other one for that matter, seems to show up at NAMM every year with the same shit they had for the last 2 decades trying to say its new and improved. Woah cool someone made yet another fuzzface clone that will cost $200 despite being 5 bucks in parts and labor. The whole industry is really stagnant but I don't think thats the fault of their creativity. Most of everything you can think of was probably made over 70 years ago. Digital has its benefits but most people use it wrong. Any custom made digital stuff is usually just synth nerds either cloning something that exists or using random chance to sequence something because they are too lazy to make it up themselves. Most people are creatively bankrupt and lack the drive to improve themselves in whatever hobby they might take up so everything just sounds like bottom barrel garbage. Most people need to read a book or something.

Does Rocksmith just suck more than usual with acoustics? It worked okay enough with my electric but I recently bought a new FGX800c and it doesn't register like half the notes, it's not the guitars fault because it works just fine with an amp. Also in case anyone in the thread is looking to pick up a guitar I would highly recommend the FG so far. For a $300 guitar it sounds pretty damn good and haven't had to do any kind of set up really outside of slapping on some Elixirs and swapping out the pins with some ebony ones, and really the strings it came with were fine, I just like the Elixirs.

I don't see what the problem is with using a DAW, it's just a tool at the end of the day. It's pointless elitism thrown at people that want to seriously make music but probably aren't so lucky to play with a group, and that's one reason why rock music has died tbh.. Wood guitars are a bad fricking joke, wood is one of the worst materials you can make a guitar out of, and yet 99.99% of guitars are still made out of it. The instrument hasn't progressed past the 50s in any significant regard. The reason? Because it's not a fricking instrument. It's a boomer status symbol.

Wood sucks but its cheap and easy to work with. Steinberger made a really nice guitar in the 80's that was graphite and carbon fiber. Unfortunately gibshit owns that company now so all their quality products will never be remade and if they do its the cheapest chink wood plank they flip for $500. Its amazing how the guitar industry, and every other one for that matter, seems to show up at NAMM every year with the same shit they had for the last 2 decades trying to say its new and improved. Woah cool someone made yet another fuzzface clone that will cost $200 despite being 5 bucks in parts and labor. The whole industry is really stagnant but I don't think thats the fault of their creativity. Most of everything you can think of was probably made over 70 years ago. Digital has its benefits but most people use it wrong. Any custom made digital stuff is usually just synth nerds either cloning something that exists or using random chance to sequence something because they are too lazy to make it up themselves. Most people are creatively bankrupt and lack the drive to improve themselves in whatever hobby they might take up so everything just sounds like bottom barrel garbage. Wrong on both accounts. As someone who makes music digitally it's an absolute chore compared to using a real instrument and requires far more intricate knowledge than simply picking up a physical guitar, drums or bass.

Does Rocksmith just suck more than usual with acoustics? It worked okay enough with my electric but I recently bought a new FGX800c and it doesn't register like half the notes, it's not the guitars fault because it works just fine with an amp. Also in case anyone in the thread is looking to pick up a guitar I would highly recommend the FG so far. For a $300 guitar it sounds pretty damn good and haven't had to do any kind of set up really outside of slapping on some Elixirs and swapping out the pins with some ebony ones, and really the strings it came with were fine, I just like the Elixirs.
