This has been an ongoing process for years. By this point players must reserve nearly all of their mana with the same setup of defensive auras everyone - EVERYONE - uses to be by default half as survivable as in previous updates.
Picking what auras you run is a thing of the past, you must run defense, because there is no way to get what has been nerfed on items and removed from skill trees otherwise.
Player damage also keeps getting dumpstered. Defense and offense nerfs have killed build variety entirely, now people can only use what the developers handpick to be good each patch.
Trying to play something sub-par in the past still allowed you to kill endgame bosses. Now it is an exercise in masochism to merely get through the main acts.
Every update makes the visual clarity of the game worse, disabling the players ability to see what will oneshot them.
Ground effects cover the entire floor. Enemy projectiles get flashier and flashier to the point you can't tell what's being fired. Content bloat makes this issue worse every update with so many goddamn effects overlapping.
At this point the playerbase feels like the developers are actively sabotaging their game by spitefully implementing changes that fly in the face of what is asked for.
PoE started at being something close to Diablo 2, then got massive power creep overtime and became a lot more focused on clear speed, simultaneously the risk of getting killed in a single hit if not just getting outright buttfricked hard by non-boss enemies also increased. Though, people could experiment with builds a lot more and still do pretty decently if they don't want to meta too hard and so a lot more playstyles were viable as a result. But then for one update last year, the devs at GGG decided to address power creep that by directly nerfing a shitload of things in the pursuit to lower player power. Granted, something that would probably have to happen for PoE 2 but that shit is still quite far away, and GGG made up a completely bullshit graph in trying to present this.
Ultimately, this also meant a large amount of builds would become unviable for those who liked cooking up their own stuff, in a game essentially about build-making autism.

The fact humans are descended from them is the reason why they can't be part of the Alliance, because they absolutely and utterly loathe humans for being their small flabby puny descendants thanks to the Curse of Flesh.
Yet their greatest warriors got beaten by human champions, their leaders, their god king they'd have developed a respect for the fact that their descendants have carved a name for themselves and rule more territory than they do.
Well now they can put their money where their mouth is and be proper rivals to their old enemies. Wouldn't be the biggest stretch in the story and feels like a natural progression.
Dumber reasons were used as to why certain Allied Races join their respective faction. Some could have joined because a Wolfman, though technically still human, saved their asses from being playthings of Helya.
Pretty big downgrade, Nozdormu had one of the best looking models in the game.
Problem is the old model is too gritty for the current clean cute art style. Samwise's art style is losing it's influence overtime as they hire more young women from calarts.

Give me a basic rundown of this, i always hear poe players say this but never what the actual problem is.
PoE is a game about going fast and killing lots of stuff.
Players like going fast and killing lots of stuff. They don't like having that interrupted by oneshots or having to kill slowly.
Every update strips away core defenses the player uses to avoid being instantly oneshot and raises monster HP / time to kill.
This has been an ongoing process for years. By this point players must reserve nearly all of their mana with the same setup of defensive auras everyone - EVERYONE - uses to be by default half as survivable as in previous updates.
Picking what auras you run is a thing of the past, you must run defense, because there is no way to get what has been nerfed on items and removed from skill trees otherwise.
Player damage also keeps getting dumpstered. Defense and offense nerfs have killed build variety entirely, now people can only use what the developers handpick to be good each patch.
Trying to play something sub-par in the past still allowed you to kill endgame bosses. Now it is an exercise in masochism to merely get through the main acts.
Every update makes the visual clarity of the game worse, disabling the players ability to see what will oneshot them.
Ground effects cover the entire floor. Enemy projectiles get flashier and flashier to the point you can't tell what's being fired. Content bloat makes this issue worse every update with so many goddamn effects overlapping.
At this point the playerbase feels like the developers are actively sabotaging their game by spitefully implementing changes that fly in the face of what is asked for.

PoE started at being something close to Diablo 2, then got massive power creep overtime and became a lot more focused on clear speed, simultaneously the risk of getting killed in a single hit if not just getting outright buttfricked hard by non-boss enemies also increased. Though, people could experiment with builds a lot more and still do pretty decently if they don't want to meta too hard and so a lot more playstyles were viable as a result. But then for one update last year, the devs at GGG decided to address power creep that by directly nerfing a shitload of things in the pursuit to lower player power. Granted, something that would probably have to happen for PoE 2 but that shit is still quite far away, and GGG made up a completely bullshit graph in trying to present this.
Ultimately, this also meant a large amount of builds would become unviable for those who liked cooking up their own stuff, in a game essentially about build-making autism.
The devs also want to update all the acts (the 'levelling' phase most ladder players want to burn through as fast as possible) to be harder to match, which I guess is somewhat fair but amongst a lot of other changes like what
mentions the game is a lot less newbie friendly and more annoying to play, amongst some other things like very many melee skills being overall unpleasant to use compared to spells and shit. I will say that the current endgame changes introduced this year are much better but overall it just seems like PoE ultimately turned into a streamer game.
