Fatal Frame is fricking boring. Even Crimson Butterfly. I've never met a less engaging series in my life. Everything about it is a flatline. The characters walk around bland empty rooms and talk in bored monotone voices. The "gameplay" is waiting for the ghost to go boo so you can shoot it in the slowest FPS ever. An FPS with one weapon type. What a sick joke. It would put me to sleep except every 15 minutes or so they have a ghost hand grab you with a loud stinger.
It's tense and the combat is fun. If you don't like it you probably have coomer pot brain rot

I actually appreciated what they tried to do with the storylines of three different girls, each with their own stuff going on.
Graphics were really, really great, sound design was good, but could've needed one or two Jamaoka-style BANGERS for the high intensity scenes. This gives me a bad feeling for the future, it felt dumbed down and re-heated in a microwave.
But those fricking real-life scenes were ATROCIOUS and almost made me quit on more than one occasion. They boke up any sense of pace the game had.
Also the gameplay was literally just walking from Press X to Press X, occasionally interrupted by two or three running parts.
Also constantly getting teleported to a different room/setting didn't help anything or anyone. You are always going through completely random corridors.
Oh and ONE riddle? The number lock thing? That was as way, way too easy?
So. One or two interesting ideas, but a handful of really weird and bad ones. For a "for free" game, it was a fun afternoon.
