It is weird that two of the male characters hit on me but only one of the female characters hit on me. However, in either case it happens too soon into the game.
I heard the reason for this issue is that everyone testing the game in early access over the years was into shipping. 'Shippers' are people who obsess over relationships and pairings in whatever media they consume. Doesn't matter if the media is sexually oriented or not. They only care for shipping, basically the devs only got input from those types of people. This is the end result.

When you do, he'll offer you what seems like a completely platonic magic training exercise, where he teaches your character how to use magic.
Once you've started it, he's gonna blatantly hit on your character for about 2 minutes straight in a magic ritual that becomes gayer and gayer every second until your minds are melded, and the narrator describes the scene as "intimate". At this point, you'll be able to lock into a romance or cut the "magic ritual" short and go to bed, leaving him disappointed. (he still wants to frick you tho)

casters scale a lot with level, at the start, the best use for spell slots is CC, especially sleep, and using cantrips for damage
later, cantrips scale a lot (cantrips can be used endlessly) and spells can literally wipe packs of trash mobs or turn fights around
No problem at with gay characters or the potential to have gay reactions with characters if you influence them sufficiently I do think Larian went too far off the deep end with this game though, they tried too hard to appeal to everyone and now the characters feel hollow, sexuality is a big feature of someone’s personality, making everyone interchangeable feels unrealistic and shallow.

The game offers like 5 opportunites to kill him right at the start. You can just stab him immediately, or later. Plus it's pretty obvious what kind of character he is at the beginning and if you expect him to somehow magically change, you're just dumb. There has been mods for years. Some add new spells, cantrips, rework stuff, new hair/faces/armor etc. Bigger stuff will probably take time, and I assume workshop support will be in the near future.

You should definitely give it a shot. Its the closest to a sandbox DnD experience in a campaign. You can make your own party of up to 6. 4 custom and 6 companions. And the companions only contribute certain dialogue options for checks and and battle dialogue. Otherwise they are quiet. Race, class, background, and alignment determine dialogue and nothing is gigacringe "personality" wise. Barebones shit. I miss it.

That's one of the reasons why old CRPGs will always be superior to the nu age of CRPGs.
Those older games, say DA:O and before, basically had romancing as a side plot bonus that could happen if you fulfilled certain requirements throughout the story.
DOS2, BG3, and the Pathfinder games feel like romancing your companions is what the developers think is the main draw for these types of games. They practically throw every single romanceable character in the game at your wiener at every turn, even if the characters despise your actions or your race or your class or whatever. It's also abundantly apparent, at least in DOS2 and the PF games, that there is no "end" to a companion that isn't them being romanced and fricked like there is in past CRPGs. You either dick them down, or they're essentially a nobody that you don't really interreact with.
And don't get me started on the fact that those early CRPGs had actual consequences to sleeping with certain characters, whereas these nu age CRPGs just let you frick the entire cast and no one gets pissy about it or anything.

There was a trick where you start the game four times and co-op with yourself to have a custom party, no idea if it still works.
Never did work. You can't remove them from your party or change around party members if you do it.
