>gamers don't want things like character stats in their games
Was Final Fantasy 16 director right?
On the one hand I kinda can see him having a point, with how popular cinematic experience always was.
On the other hand, even old zeldas had shit like farming hearts and stamina

He is right we need more true action games, I'm tired of all games these days having stats, skill trees, perks, builds.
I don't want it in something that's trying to be an action game. I want more pure action games, tired of them all being arpgs these days.
>we need more true action games
fpbp my thoughts exactly
>gamers don't want things like character stats in their games
What? No.
I do agree with him that mainline FF is now ARPG, but it should not forget its turn-based roots and strategy.
FFV and III were the only game in the series that forced you to use strategy.
Hes a incredibly ungodly lucky hack who owes it all to others failures.
don't want things like character stats in their games
Given Baldur's Gate 3 selling overwhelmingly more copies than FF16, both as a turn based game and as an actual RPG with stats and choices that mean something, I'd say YoshiP and Square Enix are out of touch morons.
And spider man sold even more than BG3
So did Elden Ring
And Dragon's Dogma will sell more copies too
>spider man sold even more than BG3
What does that have to do with anything? It's a completely different genre, based on one of the most popular characters to ever exist in fiction.
>So did Elden Ring
Elden Ring rode in on a decade of momentum from Souls. Give Larian a decade and they'll have a title that reaches similar heights.
>And Dragon's Dogma will sell more copies too
Maybe. I've never even heard of that game.
>What does that have to do with anything? It's a completely different genre
Ironic considering FF has more in common with Pokemon than a CRPG.
Rogue Trader proved BG3 was just some freak anomaly (due to it being le bear sex game) and not a sudden resurgence of interest in CRPGs or turn based games in general.
>Ironic considering FF has more in common with Pokemon than a CRPG.
You mean pokemon the turn based RPG?
Or maybe Rogue Trader just proved that people don't like playing shit CRPGs.
>due to it being le bear sex game
do stupid people really think millions of people bought the game and played it for hundreds of hours because of bear sex? they really believe this, without a hint of irony?
Cope and seeth bear fricker
BG3 is concurrently the 7th most populated game on steam, over 6 months post-launch.
Why? I like the game and you like eating shit and obsessing about fricking animals, furry homosexual.
Sex was one of if not the main reason of success for BG3.
It's insane how every character ends up fricking you out of the blue and normies love it and eat it like crazy.
Rogue Trader targets a niche in the 40K fanbase. BG3 targets a much wider base of the DnD market with its implementation of a revised version of 5e
Elden ring also has character stats that matter dipshit
DD doesn't have the brand power
Elden Ring and DD have stats, you colossal homosexual. What's your point?
People only bought that game for
>le gay bear sex
Oh please, come the frick down off your high horse with that shit. Let's not pretend FF16 didn't have its share of flaming homosexualry.
Yeah and in FF16 you're forced to watch the gay sex scene. In BG3 it's completely optional kek.
>one panned out kiss that you literally cannot see
Must've been really traumatizing for you to consider that a sex scene
Hey I'm not the one crying like a b***h about the gays in BG3. That shit just flies past me. I only mention the gays at all because the other moron brought it up first.
>t. Bear fricker
People will buy whatever FOTM game is shilled on Twitch and in gaming awards. Look at Elden Ring. It had an insane number of sales but only a small percentage of people buying the game actually continue to play beyond Limgrave. So sales is not necessarily a measure of how popular or appreciated a game is. Neither are awards for that matter.
>People will buy whatever FOTM game is shilled on Twitch and in gaming awards.
Then why did so few people buy FF16? I've never seen a game shilled that hard in my life. Squenix was paying random WoW streamers to advertise it lmao.
>It had an insane number of sales but only a small percentage of people buying the game actually continue to play beyond Limgrave.
You can check achievement completion stats and see that most people don't play through half of any given game, let alone beat it. Moreover, there are still 50k people playing Elden Ring nonstop, every day. BG3 still has 150k concurrent players, every single day. These games have more longevity and stronger communities than a modern FF title could ever hope to achieve. Even the shameless FF7 remake, riding the coattails of nostalgia, has literally no concurrent playerbase.
I think you’re exaggerating when you say you’ve never seen a game shilled so hard. That’s just not true. FF is and has always been a relatively niche game. If you did a poll of gamers, you’d find most didn’t even know it was released.
>That’s just not true. FF is and has always been a relatively niche game.
maybe if you're a zoomer. FFVII was the 2nd bestselling game on the PS1 behind Gran Turismo and FFVIII was 4th behind Gran Turismo 2.
On the PS2 the only games that sold more than FFX were Gran Turismo 3, 4, GTA San Andreas, and Vice City.
Anon, YoshiP himself was at Geoff's moron awards shilling it live. Where the frick were you?
>Then why did so few people buy FF16? I've never seen a game shilled that hard in my life
Didn't see anyone on steam shilling the game
Because the game isn't on steam. Stunning observation, Watson.
So naturally the next logical conclusion is that XVI can't be the hardest shilled game because it was absent from one of the industry's key platforms. Thanks for playing.
You're confusing the quantity of shilling with the number of platforms the game is available on. Those are two completely different metrics. Not sure how you needed help with that, but here we are.
No. Naturally the quantified most shilled game is shilled from the most available communication hubs..
let’s be real, a lot of the shilling was done for free by xiv fanboys who have an unhealthy parasocial obsession with yoshida
ngl the entire game had good gameplay, but need more variety. Like if you added harder difficulty + more weapons sets. imagine having a whip or monk from ff14 or dark knight or like magic role. goat game
>On the one hand I kinda can see him having a point, with how popular cinematic experience always was.
...with normalgays that don't even like videogames.
In a way, FF wasn't that big on stats to begin with. There were no cool interaction aside from just damage go big.
What was done on 16 still was mediocre though.
FF16 is very dishonest. Its marketed as an action-rpg but in reality its an action game.
No way gay, ARPGs are the shit. Pure action games are a small niche just like fighting games.
This pretentious jap will say anything to justify the existence of his shitty ass DMC slop. Imagine having his 7 year first mainline FF game surpassed by a gacha company's first in-house AA premium game
Make a thread with that claim when you have the financial data to prove it
>the first thing he thinks when he sees the word "surpassed" is the sales noomber instead of the game itself
There is no game yet, It's not released
I really hope you’re not talking about stellar blade anon. I’m looking forward to it but the devs just aren’t showing any of its combat besides cinematic finishers. My expectations are on the floor rn between that and the fact they’re gacha devs (gacha gameplay is never good). For all the shit people give XVI, the devs at least had the balls to put a combo mad in their state of play.
