No one cares about used card prices
No one cares about inflated MSRP

Retail is overflowing with unsold stock but prices are still sky high
S.Korean inventories are overflowing with unsold chips (especially memory) but prices are still sky high

We're nowhere near capitulation yet. The US will announce Q2 GDP (and the recession) at the end of July. It's still way too early.

I'm not buying on the secondary market. I want new cards to fall in price not dead ones.

why does it matter if the card is dead
they are dirt cheap so just buy another used one lol

buying on the secondary market means giving money to miners and scalpers, something that should be avoided at all costs

$50 worth dirt cheap?Because anything above that is overpriced for a miner's used card.

How many dead cards are you trying to sell?

  3. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

As if anyone who could afford a new card doesn't already have one. People with any money are going out on vacation at the expense of electronics. The rest are too busy paying for food and gas. They'll be selling those mining cards for scrap and new cards for half MSRP before people are interested again.

It's been so long since buying a new GPU was an option that I've forgotten why we even did it in the first place.

More FPS? I can barely tell the difference between 80FPS and 144FPS.

      Anonymous

      > I can barely tell the difference between 80FPS and 144FPS
Have to disagree with that. Going from 60 to 120+ fps is a quite significant leap. It also improves gameplay unironically especially for shooters. Cringe reference but, linus reddit tips made a pretty good video about it with Shroud.

        Anonymous

To be fair, it depends on what kind of games you play. Even in a somewhat action game like, let's say, The Witcher 3, the difference between 60 and 120 isn't THAT massive.
Also, the hardware you play those games with matters: a higher framerate isn't that noticeable if you play with a controller; with a mouse, since your hand movement is tracked 1:1, it's way more apparent.

          Anonymous

          >To be fair, it depends on what kind of games you play
True, it mostly applies to competitive games with a lot of camera movements and quick actions. Stuff like FPS, ASShomosexualS etc. And ye, it doesn't only matter for display but also inputs

            Anonymous

For me it applies to everything. Even classic Doom that runs on 35fps logic looks better when I play at 144fps (interpolated), just because of the visual sensation of you turning quickly and having a better sense of movement.
Shooting games in general are much better, even if you play single player and you're not a "god", the relationship of mouse and screen movement just gets considerably better, it's like you've taken a 10 ton weight off your character and suddenly he starts to act the way you want him to.
I recently played Elden Ring and now I'm playing Dragon's Dogma. Elden Ring runs at 60fps but with very serious frame pacing problems that sometimes make it look like it's at 30 fps. Dragon's Dogma runs at a perfect 144fps 100% of the time on my PC. Even though Dragon's Dogma has more obsolete graphics, in my experience it feels like a game from a generation above Elden Ring, just because of the frame rate.

No you wont because by the time 3060tis in any kind of working condition hit that price there wont be any warranty left on them
Even one listed with no working fans would probably sell for like $300 right now, because there'll be like 40 people watching it thinking "hmm, i'll just zip tie some fans to it and save $100

The ponzi scheme nears its end coupled with bad macro economic times ahead (recession, if not depression) and on top of that there are regulatory concerns.

      Anonymous

It hasn't died, hedge funds have forced the price down this far on behalf of their investors. This is the time to buy. After regulation, the hedge funds will skyrocket the price to 100 or 200k. By 2030 it will be at least 1M. Btw, crypto was always a government invention, that makes it much easier to track everyone's spending, etc., but they had to make it look like libertarians initiated the project to get everyone interested. The only really libertarian crypto is Monero, which they will try to ban outright.

There are no games that need anything over a 1080ti unless you insist on playing with meme shadows. Nobody wants to pay $1000 to play with meme shadows.

The true answer is that Bitcoin was used to back another cryptocurrency. Those other cryptocurrency collapsed due to being insecure. This resulted in bitcoin being liquidated en masse in order to keep the other cryptos alive. Everyone else is completely ignorant of the topic, as regulation has nothing to do with it, and neither does the rising depression - both of these will cause the price to increase, not decrease.

tl;dr Crypto let every deformed moron into their phalanx, and someone found the weak spot.

While that *is* true, btc has followed the S&P for a while, I think most retail has been liquidated and we just more stonks now.

When news sites write articles about this they're talking about 2nd hand market aka miners trying to recover their losses by selling their "read to settle down"-cards. The MSRP is still ridiculously expensive.
